Great service competitive pricing family owned. Was able get another pair of glasses with the same frames as my existing ones.

(She has a very cozy house) The Optomitrist Dr Hertz was very nice and thorough and very talkative.

So I come in and tell them I had an appointment and was told this is not an eye exam but medical exam. I was like okay that's fine because I needed to be seen for the infection. Since I needed the treatment I paid $150 office visit but I had medical insurance. They said they don't work with medical insurance? I was confused at this point so I didn't argue with them since I needed the service. When I came home I called my medical insurance and was told that I should be just paying my co pay and the vision office should be putting a claim with the insurance. At this point I was upset this place is one lazy to file a claim because the insurance has a pre-negotiated rate with providers. Or two the office does not know the procedures for medical treatments and just wanted to charge everyone. On a positive note, the front staff person was nice and the doc treated me for visit I came in for. However, never again I will come here knowing what I know now. Just be careful and ask questions if you are coming in for a medical purposes and have insurance. Now I have to file a claim through my insurance in hopes I get some kind of reimbursement. That was my experience at this location.

So if star rating the doctor, definitely a +4. But the rest of the experience is a different review. The owner comes off very nice especially when trying to sell glasses. Make sure the importance of fitting them and marking them is done. If you don't find something you like at the time of your exam, make to ask for your script and go where you matter. Where the people take the time and care about their patients and customers. If you call don't bother to leave a voicemail, calls are not always returned and when you call again after no response or stop in, you're given lame excuses. The owner Jamie and the one whom answers calls are both extremely rude and could benefit from a course of customer service.

We have excellent eye care coverage and every year I always take advantage of it by getting a new pair of eyeglasses. I tend to abuse the ones I have by leaving them in the car. I only need eyeglasses for driving and going to the movies. So to my surprise I was excited to see Warby Parker at Menlo Park Mall. I know of this stylish and afforable brand but I was too lazy to deal with the hassle of them shipping me sample frames to try on and sending them back. With eye frame names like Fletcher (the one I got), Keiko Esme, Caleb, Tilley, Blakeley, Yoojin, expectant parents can get some cool ideas for their baby's names. Lol. There are many styles to choose from and each one comes in medium or wide frame. There are sunglasses and accessories as well. All the associates in the store were extremely helpful and patient with our questions. Within a week, our new eyeglass frames arrived to our home. I look forward to adding a new one each year to my eyewear collection. I love how stylish these frames are. If Warby Parker does not accept your insurance, you can do out-of-pocket and just have your insurance company reimburse you. Note: you can also download their app where you can try on their frames virtually. Super fun.

Negative Review - Sterling Optical…read more I had an appointment at Sterling Optical yesterday and, while I was greeted kindly at first, the experience quickly went downhill. Immediately upon arrival, I noticed staff eating food directly on top of the counters where glasses and cases are stored--the same items patients are expected to purchase and wear. There was no visible handwashing or sanitizing, which was extremely concerning from a hygiene standpoint. During my exam, the doctor never introduced himself. He began reviewing my medical history and asked about my occupation, which was clearly listed on my intake form as an X-ray tech. When I corrected him after he referred to me as a "technician," he brushed it off with "potato, potato." As someone who works in healthcare, I found this dismissive and unprofessional. Titles matter, just as there is a difference between a medical assistant and a physician. The exam room was left open to the mall, and my personal medical paperwork was placed on an exposed counter ( right next to their food) The patient seen before me was standing directly over my paperwork, and later walked into the room during my eye exam because the door was left open. This was an extremely uncomfortable and unacceptable breach of privacy and confidentiality. The situation worsened when the doctor asked if I was wearing contact lenses (I was). He poured saline out of a used contact lens case, refilled it, and then asked me to place my contacts inside it. I refused, as this is completely unsanitary. Only then did he offer me a new case. It was also clear that the room had not been cleaned or wiped down between patients. Despite the obvious lack of sanitation, I was asked to hold a spatula up to my face, which I declined due to the overall dirty condition of the office. I also received attitude from the doctor when I expressed concerns. I only learned the doctor's name after refusing to purchase their ridiculously overpriced contact lenses and requesting my prescription, which should never be the first time a patient learns who is treating them. To make matters worse, the pricing at this facility is completely out of line with the level of care and professionalism provided. As someone who works in the healthcare field, this was one of the most unsanitary, uncomfortable, and unprofessional medical experiences I have ever had. If I could give negative stars, I would.
