I have previously posted a review about Visionworks Pompton Plains NJ not notifying one of my insurance companies that I returned eyeglasses and was issued a refund. I had to go in person to the store to straighten this out since they refused to answer the phone. I had a pair of sunglasses made same time as regular glasses. I used benefits from 2 different insurance companies. (I had returned both pairs at same time) I just found out they never notified the other insurance company about the returned sunglasses. Seems they want to keep the payments from both insurance companies hoping not to get caught with fraud. read more

Bad customer service, whatever happened to being courteous and friendly and greeting customers. First time here you walk in to two people sitting at the desk no greeting just a look up and down. No smiles nothing. I mean pick a job you like if this isn't it. I didn't make the job choice for you. Anyway, no can I help you no type of welcome she barely looked up so I announce our names. She says to me(still not customer friendly no smiles nothing)I don't know if he'll be able to see you the last two appointments are here. So she's staring at me I'm staring at her I say well I called to inform we were running late(ran into traffic on parkway) why not just tell us not to come at all that's the part that pissed me off could have just said on the phone to reschedule. So she says it's a 10 minute grace period. I mean I was 14 mins late not 10 but the attitude sucked. If I could give 0 stars for customer service I would. I found the lack of customer service to be quite annoying. Glasses, as in two pairs were ordered, and upon the retrieval process was treated with less concern and respect than that of a fast food restaurant. Should I begin with the rude service or optometrist who seemed confused by my questions? Staff was rude and very slow, I went in on a Saturday, which I was told was their busiest day, I understand. However, if Saturday is your busiest day why do I only see 4 employees? I can be patient, and I was. Staff was rude and seemed as if everyone was an inconvenience. Now, lets talk about the optometrist, Skinner, I have not been back to this Visionworks since 2005. In 2005 Dr Skinner told me I had astigmatism and gave me my first pair of glasses. Fast forward to 2018, she seemed confused when I told her she told me I had astigmatism her response was 'o ok,' she could not answer my question of why does my left eye feel swollen all the time, she brushed it off. Then she tells me if I had not been wearing reading glasses for 13 years, she would not recommend me getting them! Very unprofessional, I am ready to dispute this with my insurance company. They were no help and now I do not even trust the prescription she gave me. I'll stick with Warby Parker as they have not let me down. read more

If I could leave 0 stars to this place I would. This is the WORST VISIONWORKS IN THE AREA! I should have known from the first time i called to make an appointment. They were extremely rude! But i figured Hey! maybe she was having an off day, happens to everyone. Boy! was I wrong! The appointment was for my daughter, i was her first time going to get her eye examined and fitted for glasses. We got there and 2 ladies were in the front. One of the ladies was just sitting there on their phone didnt even acknowledge me and 3 other customers had walked in. I had to wait for the other woman to finish until she asked me what I needed. Another customer walked in, a woman who didnt speak english, and these workers chose to speak about this woman in english knowing she wasnt understanding them. AND LOUDLY! Everyone sitting there was listening how this woman didn't speak English and these "workers" annoyed they had to translate. SO UNCALLED FOR. My appointment was at 5, they finally called me at 6 to examine my daughters eyes. It was a younger girl, who just seemed she hated her life. was soooooo rude to my daughter left us in the dark room for 15 minutes!!! while she left and spoke to another co-worker. I was already heated! I thought hey the Dr is here and im sure she will be much better than these worker....I WAS WRONG! The Dr was just as rude or worst than her coworkers. First of all she looked me up and down and asked who I was to my child, I told her I was the mother and she looked at me like she had seen the devil himself. Mind u im 30 years old. Like I said it was my daughters first time at the Dr's and she has really light colored eyes and is very sensitive with light. the Dr was annoyed at the fact she couldn't stare at the light long enough when conducting her exam. My daughter was in tears and she was being extremely rude! when doing the eye exam she was asking what letters she can see and what not, and in one instance she goes "can you see these letters" and my daughter in her innocence goes "wow is so small" and the RUDE DR RESPONDS WELL I DIDN'T ASK U THAT! I gave this Visionworks so many chances but honestly the WHOLE STAFF IS NOT MADE TO WORK WITH CUSTOMERS. the 2 receptionsit in the front extremly rude the younger girl who takes everone back for the mini exams SOOO rude and sloppy! and the Dr was the worst of them all! Optometrist that works the weekends is rude and fitted me with the wrong size lenses which just delayed the process longer - she went on to blame me because I didn't provide her with my past contacts measurements. This location is absolutely a mess and rude! Even before covid they were not organized. I figured I would give them a try again thinking since covid they wouldn't be making appointments right on top of each other. I waited over an hour for my appointment and when I asked about it I was told I was next no estimated wait time nothing more. They didn't even explain the reasoning or apologize for it. One of the workers was even being rude to another employee. And let's not mention as they were "cleaning " the touched glasses it was more of just a spray on it no wiping nothing. Second, I requested them to send my prescription to another facility since I decided to switch providers due to the terrible service and I had to call them 3 times to have my prescription faxed and it actually never happened. I have never left a review over any type of business, ever. But this spot is one of the worst places that I have ever been to. I'm not writing this after my first visit, which was terrible. I didn't get angry over that because everyone has a bad day, and I put up with the BS of my first visit hoping it was just a bad day that the staff was having. Nope. I left after waiting TWO HOURS after my appointment was made to see the doctor. Came back for my second appointment to pick up my contacts, and was told that whoever called me to pick them up was wrong and that they were not ready. Ok, cool, not a big deal. I come back the third time for them, and I have never worn contacts before, it took a lot of practice to wear them. The entire time that I was trying to put them on the manager I assume, was walking past me huffing and puffing that I was taking too long to put them on and wanted to stop me and reschedule my appointment to COME BACK and try them on again. Finally, I put them on. And guess what? They weren't my contacts. They were someone else's prescription. I had worn someone else's prescription , by then the doctor wouldn't allow me to try my own prescription on because my eye was too sensitive. The manager? She didn't even apologize, she looked pissed and annoyed and gave me so much attitude as if this was my fault. Mind you, I was laughing the entire time that this was happening because I'm not the type to cause a scene in a place of business. I didn't even file a complaint or anything at all, I just ignored it all and walked out hoping that my FOURTH time in there would be a better experience. I finally received my contacts and felt like I thankfully, wouldn't have to deal with them again.. But of course, another situation occurred so I had to contact them for help and boy was that a mistake. Do yourselves a favor, find any other Optometrist and go there. Find a local and go to him/her, better to help them out then this place. Never going to go here again. The worst experience I've ever had with an optometrist's office. The staff is highly unprofessional. After I waited more than one hour after my scheduled appointment time, I was rushed through my eye exam and almost charged for a contact lens fitting I didn't receive. After speaking with the optometrist, she told me the fee (which wasn't covered under insurance -- aka a hidden fee for them to make money off of services that are covered by insurance) was for her to "okay" my current prescription. I ultimately got that charge removed, after making a big deal, but had I not brought it up, I would've never known. Be careful if you do end up going here. It's not worth the trouble, in my opinion. I went to the Paramus location the following day and was in and out, with no problem and absolutely stellar customer service. Take the extra drive and head to Paramus. read more

The optometrist was very knowledgeable and welcoming, the 1 star is for her. The customer service gets a zero from me. I went in a little over a month ago for my annual eye exam, and could have ordered contacts and two sets of glasses from them. They were not knowledgeable with the services my insurance provided, and I get that it may be hard to know the ins and outs of each insurance company, but "I dunno" is unacceptable. I had already contacted my insurance company, so I was aware of what my coverage was but the lady (I forget her name) tried to convince me that I was wrong. After going back and forth with her for at least 5 minutes, she pushed some buttons on the keyboard and found my detailed coverage. They were very unprofessional, condescending and made me feel like they were talking bad about me in Spanish. Who does that in a professional place of business??? So rude! Fast forward, I called the other day to have my contacts shipped to me. I asked the lady who answered appx. how long it should take for me to receive them and her response was again..."I dunno". What is the point of taking online appointments if your company can not follow the concept of appointments? No one should have to be in your facility for 1.5 hours when a customer takes time to make an appointment. Time is important to all. Was called to pick up glasses. Went there the next day to pick it up, waited half an hour only to be told that the glasses had to be sent back out because they damaged it. Got a "sorry. We'll call you in two weeks." Got called again two weeks later to pick up glasses and now contacts have come in, too. Called prior to going to confirm both are actually there and not damaged. Got the NASTIEST receptionist with THE most condescending attitude. The doctors are great only to be sullied by such deplorable customer service. read more

My wife and I scheduled an appointment here because their website had the frames we wanted. 3 hours later when it's time to choose frames they tell us they don't carry Ray Bans even though their website has it so very misleading. Front desk people are a mess. Literally taking 2, 3, 4 people at a time instead of who's next in line. Everything was a joke and they were all unprofessional. Our doctor, Dr. Moreira was good. The most unprofessional medical facility I've ever come across. I've reported them to the AAMA and BBC. My kids have been patients there and last year when I was treated unprofessionally by both Doctor and staff I let it go. After making an appointment and not being informed that I had to pay out of pocket ! Receptionist today was rude! Couldn't even look at me I the eye! Walked away from me ! I hope they read this ! First appointment was going right in no issues BUT beware those eye glass prices will shock you!! Buy one get one yea with my bill coming out to $489.95. They charge for anti-reflective $100.00, for the lens to darken $105.00, it just went on. Finally picked up my daughter's glasses on October 31. November 1, 2016 she told me the glasses were giving her a headache and felt it was too strong for her eyes. Fast forward to November 5, 2016 appointment to see doctor for my daughter's complaint mind you we stood there over an hour waiting. Scenario, teenager 15 years old constantly bickering "Mom is almost an hour." "Mom it's over an hour." I finally stormed out. That's when they finally saw her but mind you I stood in my car. Anyhow, the moral of my story the doctor did not do anything told my daughter she has to deal with headaches to get use to it. No way. Getting my money back for both and will get a second opinion. Please be prepared to spend a lot of money. That day total with me paying co-pay and insurance covering with glasses was $660.00.. I will at least get the glasses refund.
