I have been wearing progressives glasses for 25 years and buying new glasses every 1 to 2 years. during those 25 years I have never returned a pair or been unhappy with the product. however, Visionworks was the absolute worst experience I ever had getting glasses. The following summarizes my basic issues. 1. The customer service was the worst i have ever experienced. The agent working with me basically said my Expectations were not reasonable. She refused to work with me. She walked into the back room. Our entire encounter was less than 5 minutes. I will say that one of the original agent's colleagues gave me a card on my way out. She said to call that number to complain. 2. The glasses were not fitted properly and i got received no help from any staff member. 3. I wanted progressive reading glasses. for distance I do not need glasses. I could read better with the $20 reading glasses I got from Amazon. I was told my expectations were above visionworks standards. the only good thing I can say is they made it very easy for me to return both pair of glasses for a full Refund. Please do not waste your time with this establishment. it seems that there is very little quality control or customer service standards. read more

We ordered new lenses for my husband following cataract surgery almost two months ago; they were promised in two weeks. Cannot get a real person on the phone to tell us what the holdup is. When I check the status of his order online or by phone (recording) we get "Pending" or "Has been shipped, will be available within three days." Still waiting; don't know what to do. Rude receptionist. Glasses are not right, been on hold for 1/2 hour trying to reach them. Worst experienve ever, $400 for useless glasses that I can't see out of and the staff in Chambersburg, PA is rude. If I could give ZERO stars I would! We ordered contacts and paid $500 in the store for them. Then when they were supposed to be delivered they never showed up. Just like everyone else is saying it is impossible to get a hold of anyone, when we finally got a hold of somoone they said they dont even have us in their records of being in their store!! But we paid for the contacts already. Finally someone followed up and said they found our order. In that time we moved and told them 3 times you need to change our address before the shipment goes out. They left us a voicemail that the contacts were delivered to our old address 5 hours away at our old address... Get this, it gets better... We called our friend who lives at our old house and he said nothing was ever delivered! Now we can't get a hold of anyone to figure out what the heck is going on!!! If you have to pay money to go somewhere else, I highly recommend it! read more

Got contacts here for the first time. They made no effort to tech me what to do, just handed me a set of contacts and that was it. I had a follow up appointment today (which they rescheduled so it's two weeks later) so I figured I'd use YouTube and ask questions then. They refused to show me today, saying I had the wrong kind of appointment. Scheduled a third appointment for two weeks from now. I'll have had my contacts for a month before they do the basic training they were supposed to do on day one. read more

I waited over a month for the frames, I called and only to find out that they had to reorder them because they were not in yet. I assume the frames were never actually ordered. I was told they would take 2 weeks to arrive and that they would contact me. That's very inconvenient when your current glasses frame is broken and have to be without them for that long. I recently had a contact lenses and eye glasses exam here. I was given the prescriptions or eye glasses at the end of my appointment. When my trial contact lenses came in, I was instructed to wear them and see how I like them. I was on a time crunch and had to travel for work out of the country. When I called them just a few minutes ago to ask them to email me my prescription, they said they will not do it, it has to be faxed or picked up in person? In this day and age, what sense does that make? Now I cannot get contact lenses in order until I get home from work and back to the USA in a month. I need these contact lenses for work. This is absolutely absurd. Anything positive that came out of my experience there, has been wasted and completely overshadowed by this archaic and ludicrous policy. Thanks for nothing Vision Works. Edit: I've being told this is because of HIPPA policies. I've dealt with this before at various doctor's offices and eye glass centers. They have always told me that HIPPA regs allow communications via email when requested specifically by the patient. The way this is done is by sending me an email to the email address I provide. I click a link or reply to verify the email address is correct. Then my prescription is sent. I've done it this way for the last 5 years. HIPPA does not recommend email communications, but they also at the same time do not forbid it, when done in the manner that I mention above. It has never been an issue until I visited this vision center. read more

I will give the one positive first: the eye dr was very nice and as long as you don't order glasses or contacts, you will do ok. BUT... if you have to call? Just don't bother. They don't pick up the phone, they don't offer the ability to leave a message, basically, all you can do is drive in to ask. (Yeah, waste you're time and gas money, they really don't care) and when you come to get your glasses, you are left to wait and eventually an employee gets to you. They make you feel uncomfortable for taking up their time, look absolutely miserable, and make you feel rushed and an absolute bother. It is very awkward. That is, of course, if they even remember to let you know your order is IN(my husband's order was there 9 days already, I had to drive into town to the office to inquire if they knew when his badly needed contacts and glasses would arrive-see note above- BECAUSE NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE) They just are like oops! Here ya go, and handed me his eyeglasses and contacts. No fittings or schedule to get them properly fit, just handed them to me and done. I spent a ton of money here and left feeling like my husband and I are just huge inconveniences to this company for wanting the simplest little bit of customer service. To management: try hiring a few more employees so your two overworked ones can actually breath and do a better job. Consider an answering machine or a receptionist. Your satisfaction is not a consideration for them. Tried to get a replacement pair of glasses. They wouldn't talk to me until I scheduled an eye exam. I don't need one, I have my prescription in hand, I just wanted to replace the VERY EXPENSIVE glasses that I bought from them. I was treated very poorly and ultimately decided to take my business elsewhere. If you don't mind being overcharged and treated rudely, you will enjoy this business. read more

I had been a long time customer of Allegheny Optical before it was purchased by My Eye Doctor. I was in need of a vision check-up and new glasses, and decided on Visionworks. I'm glad that I did! I can not believe the level of unprofessionalism I have had to deal with. I have had to have my glass's done 4 times before they were kinda ok. Now I am finding out that my husband is still not able to see out of his glass's. I have put in serval tickets for a complaint to get a call back no one calls. I have gone into the store and either i hear the doctors have left or we are over booked ect... That is suppose to be the whole point of this place is to be able to walk in and get help. I waited for one of my appointments for over 2 hours to see the doctor. NOONE is calling me back to fix these glasses and I know I am now going to hear it is to late to do anything and we paid over 600 for them. DONT GO HERE it is a waste of time and all you do is wait and get no where. I should not have had to have my glass's done so many times and now I cant get my husbands fixed because noone will return my calls...............DONT go here first time ever using them and it has been a absolute nightmare!!!!!!!!!!! read more

I had a bad experience at a different VW store so I traveled roughly 100 miles round trip to the next closest store which is the one in Chambersburg, PA. Well worth the trip, problem solved, great customer service. Glad I made the trip. Most unfortunate that the original store that I went to (the one in Frederick MD) could not solve a simple problem. Totally screwed up my glasses. The sight line of my trifocals were totally off and I find myself always adjusting the position of my head to stay focused. Didn't really like the cocky attitude of the staff but at least thought they seemed to know what they're doing. Visited my ophthalmologist this week who confirmed the volume of patients they see with issues from getting their glasses at Visionworks. I won't return. read more

Right, so in the 26 years I've been wearing glasses - I started using them when I was three - this place provided the worst glasses I've ever had and went "Oops, our bad but we can't do anything about them now." Last year, I went to get a new pair of glasses because my script changed, which since my script is already heavily specialized due to my lazy left eye, the price almost immediately tripled from what we were initially given. That said, you're fine if you have a "normal" script but forget it if you're like me and nearly blind in an eye. Secondly, I went back for an adjustment and the technician - while I know it was an accident, that's beside the point - broke my glasses by applying too much pressure to the arm she was adjusting. Third and finally, the protection plan that comes pretty much standard anywhere else is an additional $50-$70 here. So since my craptastic glasses are still posing problems and literally losing their finish in flakes, I was told pretty much, "Sorry, sucks to be you but you gotta dish out $50-$70 for the protection plan so we can do something about it." I love paywalls! Not. Save your money, time and effort. Go someplace else. Meanwhile, I'm stuck with shoddy work and I can't do anything about it but I guess I got what I paid $450 for. Which anywhere else would have gotten me glasses that aren't going to bits after a year. read more

I have used VW for my last several eye exams. The doctors are very good and the staff is extremely kind and competent. The glasses selection is great and features all different price ranges. Yes even with insurance my bill was high, but I bought high end glasses and I chose options which increased the price. I recommend this VW! Be careful when you ask how much the exam is. They will tell you $45 up front but later, possibly in the exam room, they will tell you there is an additional $69 for contact exam. I questioned them three time what the exam cost was, and I was told $45. However, later when in the exam room the doctor Susan said with her back turned to me and talking very fast there was an additional cost for contacts. I felt that did not apply to me as I had already questioned the exam cost and I had that covered in my mind. This kind of business is called "bait" and "switch". Be very careful.
