I ordered a pair of glasses in July and they gave them away to another customer. They were suppose to reorder and expidite the order. They called me 8/21 and informd me my glasses were ready . I went to pick up the so called reordered frames and they weren't the correct frames. At this point I cant trust the Rx is even correct because they cant even order a pair of glasses correctly . It's been over a month and I still dont have my glasses. At this point this is insurance fraud and I dont recommend anyone going here. read more

Everything about this place works for me. I moved to another state and I make the hour drive because the customer service and knowledge is absolutely top notch. It's with Dominique at the door and continued with Wanda who worked with me on both frames and promotions that met my specific needs. I was so happy and I saved money. This is my second visit and I love this location! The staff is always prepared, willing to assist and the flow of the appointment time is considerate! The staff that supports the doctor are knowledgeable, kind, patient and inviting. I am always nervous during check ups - no one likes bad news. I've seen several bad reviews for the Catonsville Visionworks but I've always had a good experience here. I had some issues with a new prescription for progressive lenses and the staff reached out to my doctor and got the lenses corrected for me. I would give 0 stars if I could. I had an appointment here today, and arrived a little early. When I walked in there was no one at the front desk and three women wearing casual clothes at a fitting table (you know, the half circle table used for appointments). Without standing, they asked how they could help, I said I had an appointment, and they directed me to sit down. While waiting, one of the girls were singing "Never Say Never" by Justin Bieber, louder than necessary, incorrectly, and badly might I add. I just thought they were having fun but also thought this was unprofessional at the time. A different girl rolled her chair across the waiting room to me and starts asking me questions while tapping on the iPad. I'm a student, on my parents insurance. Now, rolley chair girl took my medical insurance, saw that my family had been to VW before, and ultimately came to the conclusion that I am not listed as a dependent on the insurance, and must pay almost $200 for my contacts appointment. This didn't seem right to me- I've been coming to a different location for 10+ years and they can always find my insurance through my parents. So I get on the phone to sort this out, and eventually walk outside so I wasn't being rude. I was out there for 10 mins on the phone with another vision works location (Bel Air, MD) where the lovely woman on the phone told me that she easily could see my insurance plan. So I go back inside. The girls are still sitting down at a table together, she tells me to have a seat. Rolley chair girl asks if I've been helped (as if she didn't remember me from 10 mins ago) and I say yes, I have a new insurance number. She asks what it is and I give her the name of the plan. She immediately found it... without my ID number or anything. Because it was already in the system. Then she tells me that the doctor has another appointment in 15 mins and cannot see me. I informed her that my criticism is nothing personal, but that I've been coming here for 10 years with similar insurance and there has never been an issue so bad that I had to handle it myself like that. I told her that I felt like if she had tried harder and paid more attention to my situation that I feel like she could have figured it out (like the lady from Bel Air did) she tells me it's a new system, and that next time I should have my insurance ready. I tell her that may be so, but it doesn't make sense that it was in the computer already (mind you I didn't give her my policy number), someone else figured it out, and NOW I've missed my appointment. She says she can make me another one for next week, and I decline and say I won't be back. I tell her that I'm sorry, but this is the worst customer service that I've ever had at a VisionWorks and I feel like if they hadn't been goofing off she could have helped me. This is when her attitude went from 10% helpful to -500% helpful. She tells me that it's my fault and all three girls start yelling at me at once, and telling me to leave. I tried to explain my frustration again, commenting on how rude they were being. And basically said no worries because I just simply won't be back-- as I'm walking out the door one of them says something like "girl bye, what kind of 25 year old doesn't know her own insurance". I swing back around, clearly frustrated and say "you can't even wait for the door to close before you start talking about me?" More yelling happens. Eventually the doctor comes out and I try to explain the issue-- except one of these horrible girls won't let me speak to the doctor and is yelling over me. Eventually I leave, almost in tears (I cried in the car). Not once did the doctor apologize to me. Customer Service Fails: 1. Not one person stood to greet me 2. They asked me insurance questions from across the room, before rolling herself over to me 3. She gave up on helping me once she thought I didn't have insurance. I told her it was a mistake but all the girls were talking at me at the same time in a very confusing way trying to explain why I would need to pay $200 for a contacts appointment. Absolutely no effort. 4. They blamed me missing my appointment on me! When they easily could have called the Bel Air office for me, or simply looked harder and asked more questions 5. Three adult women started cursing me out over contacts 6. These women were so unprofessional and casually dressed that I didn't even think they worked there at first 7. The doctor was no help and did not apologize for my experience (I mean that's what the customer service lady's should be there for right?!) I will be more prepared next time. But those women need a lesson in smiling and nodding and allowing a customer to vent about a bad experience. I tried to be nice but my frustration mixed with being ganged up on my three extremely unprofessional women almost had me in tears. Today was my most recent and last experience. Had an eye exam 9/28/2024 . Took my own brand new frames ( Tory Burch). Paid the fee for my lens. Employee told me it would take a couple of weeks to get them back. I called to check the status 10/23 and was told they were not delivered yet. I called back 10/25 and checked the status the automatic recording said they shipped and allow 3-5 days. I waited 5 days I called the automatic number it said the same thing it shipped allow 3-5 days. I called today the employee put me on hold, came back to the phone and said they don't have the glasses and someone picked them up 10/8. I said that's impossible , who and did y'all ask for ID. She put me on hold again then said she found the glasses. That's BS i feel like she was gonna take them until I pressed the issue. Similar issued happed December 31, 2023 I ordered contacts. Checked the status January 28th they can not find my order. Employee place SECOND order. I called back February 28th to check the status the employee said ONCE AGAIN she can not find any order. This place is the most unprofessional, incompetent establishment I have ever seen. Only 1 maybe 2 people here know what they are doing. It took them 4 attempts to give me a correct contact lens prescription. I ordered 1 box of 30 contacts from them and it took over TWO WEEKS. I just ordered 2 boxes of 90 from Sam's and I got them in 4 days. Save yourself a headache and don't go to this location for vision care. The turnover rate at this site is high. Things have progressively gotten worse. The staff are incompetent , overwhelmed and unprofessional. Simply getting my contact lenses has become tasking. I called and was guaranteed a call back by "Wanda" b/c they were busy. Two hours later I Called them back. Manager "Kesha" was unavailable. An hour later "Val" placed the order, but it will be two weeks before my lenses are in .... after inquiring, I'm also unable to get free trial lenses in the meantime due to "new policy ". Unacceptable. I've been coming here for years and I've witnessed the decline. New management, "Kesha" is a huge part of the incompetence at this location. Three months ago "Kesha" & an associate explained an entire contact lenses rebate and all the information was incorrect. Enough is enough. My entire family of four wears glasses and we always come here for all our needs. i wanted to write this review to show my appreciation to ms. WANDA! She is the definition of customer service, she is the main reason why i make sure we come here for everything we need. She is personable and courteous. She makes spending money not hurt so bad! Lol we all know how expensive eyewear can be for the family. She has always gone the extra mile to service us and answer our questions in a timely manner. She's such a pleasure to see always. If every store had employees like ms Wanda they would never be out of business. This store is clean and all other employees thus far have been nice as well. I made an appointment for last Saturday but I had rescheduled because I was feeling so sick after my second Covid shot. I just showed up to my scheduled appointment (confirmed via text message and email) and the woman up front told me (a) I was wrong, (b) that it must have been a glitch in the system and (c) that I can return in 10 days when the next available appointment was open. This is the worst customer service I've ever experienced and I work in customer service: no apology or attempts to make up for their mistake. If this is the closest Visionworks to you, do yourself a favor and drive a little farther to literally anywhere else's. read more

Bad service ever . Went there as it was near to my home, as soon as walked in all the employed had their AirPod in and was on phone . When giving a service they were still talking on their personal phone with someone . And later when finally did the eye exam just for trail contact tools literally 1 and half month to arrives . Had to call them least 5 times in that period of time and even stop by 2 times just to make sure . I made an appointment for an eye exam with a confirmation email in hand on my cell phone, completed the check in process online prior to my "confirmed appointment." A ridiculously unprofessional woman at the desk mumbled "you here for an appointment" to which I said yes, after asking my name and date of birth twice she mumbled I was "not in the system" for an appointment today. Upon providing my phone with the confirmed appointment date, time, location, she could only say that she didn't have me listed and continued to stare. I was so flustered by her complete and utter lack of professionalism and customer service that I didn't argue as I wouldn't trust anyone after her to try to figure out anything close to an eye exam. .The staff is wearing masks and gloves and take your temperature. Unfortunately they didn't look at the temperature reading after they took it. By appointment only during crisis. They took me anyway. That was nice. I needed a glasses arms adjustment. They have gotten too wide for my face now. THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T DO THAT KIND OF ADJUSTMENT. I asked where I could get them adjusted and they did not suggest anyplace. These glasses are still good, under 2 years old, and now I need new ones? My only negative is there's always a wait time when I go which is difficult because the glasses are for my young son and it's not exactly kid friendly, so if you have children, be prepared and bring something to keep them busy. I bought in a pair of frames more than a week ago and was told that the lens would be ready for my frames within 7 to 10 business days, which was perfect because I was going out of town in two weeks. We've been going to this location since 2015. Never really had a problem until today or I would've given this place 5 stars. The person at the desk was a little rude when I said I only wanted to get my frames and not necessarily have lenses made. My insurance covers up to a certain amount for frames. Anyway, I had to insist multiple times that I only wanted the frames, to the point that I felt she was questioning me...which I really don't get. I mean my insurance - which I pay for every two weeks - covers it, it's not like I'm stealing or asking to get it for free. It's not for any staff to tell me where to have my lenses made. Good thing Ervin stepped in to help me out. Look for him if you're ever in this location. We go there because they have good doctors (for the prescription), and we do find pretty decent frames. The lenses are a different story because they can get expensive so we go somewhere else for those...which apparently is problematic for one of their staff, so maybe I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

Being a clinical professional I understand how overwhelming a hard days work can be. However ,never forget customer service. This is you're greatest defense. with that being said,I recently visited the Baltimore National Pike location. When I walked in it wasn't customer friendly. A gentleman working with a customer acknowledged me standing at the front desk for more than 10 minutes before anyone greeted me .or asked how may I help you. Giving them the benefit of doubt I had an eye exam. A few weeks later I returned for lenses. I purchased them ,I waited to hear back for a pick up call. I was told that I should have received a red folder with a receipt and description of the lenses that I purchased.I asked for a receipt with an explanation of care for my new lenses as well, a receipt of purchase. At check out I asked for sample cleanser and a new cleaning cloth, I was told that I had to purchase these items,yet as I looked around the store there were small packages of your cleaning solutions in boxes. My old lenses were returned to me in a Nine West case wrapped in tissue, TISSUE !. This experience was horrible. Your ENTIRE STAFF ,needs customer service classes. I am livid beyond belief. I went to have my eyes examined over a month ago for contacts. I was given samples but the new prescription gave me headaches. When I returned a week later, I was given another prescription and samples. They only had enough for a week. I explained my concern about not having a sufficient supply before I came back for another appointment to check my eyes. I came back and placed my order for lenses and requested additional samples. They asked if I could wear my glasses. My glasses are not only extremely thick, they're old and they don't fit properly. So my answer was no. I called for 3 days before I was approved for samples. They gave me extended wear contacts although I told them I've been wearing daily lenses for years because of an eye issue I had previously. I called last week only to be told only 1 eye came in and they were out of the other eye because my prescription was strong. I've been getting daily lenses from this distributor for years and I've NEVER had them tell me they didn't have my prescription, which was actually higher than the current prescription for that eye. I called back today to be placed on hold for over 10 minutes. I called back and I spoke to someone who was "checking" on my lenses. I was on hold for 5 more minutes before I was advised that I had to be placed on hold again while she finished with a customer, and THEN she would check on my lenses. Now I'm waiting for that elusive call back that's never happened since this ordeal began. The extended wear lenses are extremely uncomfortable and I don't have a clue when I'll get my lenses that's been paid for. I will NEVER return to this place. It's the worse. read more

The manager was courteous and professional, and the eye doctor was fine, but the person who sells you glasses/contacts after the exam completely ruined my experience. First, she tells me things that contradicted what the doctor told me, then she got annoyed when I didn't want to order contacts from them (their prices were too high). But the final straw was when she tried to charged me a separate eye exam fee for each eye! She insisted that because I had a toric prescription for one eye, she had to charge me for 2 different prescriptions. I explained to her that this differed from what the manager told me on the phone, and had written on the paperwork which was right in front of us, but she insisted that he was wrong and she was right, because he couldn't have known over the phone that I would require different prescriptions. It got so heated that the other person came over to see what was happening (unfortunately the manager had stepped out for a minute or else I'm sure he would have corrected her), but the other person explained to her that this was not how this worked. You charge the higher fee, if they have astigmatism, not both fees. Seems like common sense, doesn't it? The first employee didn't apologize or anything or acknowledge she was incorrect, just continued as if she didn't just spend the previous 5 minutes giving me incorrect information and trying to overcharge me. They didn't have trial lenses in stock so I have to wait for those to come in and go pick them up. Then I have to go back again wearing those in order to get my prescription (even though I've been wearing these same lens for over a decade) so this whole process is going to take me 3 visits to get the prescription for the same thing I was already wearing. And in all the confusion, she also didn't give me the eyeglasses prescription I asked for. This would have been a fine experience if it wasn't for this rude employee.
