Completely incompetent older black female employee. Said she could not tell me whether she had my type of contact lens "until I paid for them." I asked why I'd pay for something she might not have and that seemed to confuse her. I then asked if she'd give me some samples if she in fact did not have my contact lenses and she said she could not ASK the optometrist if she could give me samples until I paid for contacts lenses that she may or may not have. I went last week for an eye exam. I called the day of to make my appt and they had openings. That was a convenience for me. I didn't have to wait to long to see the doctor. The ladies what work there are overly nice and have a lot of patience. The optometrist was sooo nice and was very knowledgeable. I was probably there about an hour which isn't long for an eye exam visit! Will definitely go back and also recommend. read more

I went in for an appointment today and I left more than satisfied with the service I received. I got a new pair of glasses and an updated contact prescription, and the staff was very helpful throughout the entire process. I would've had to wait over a month for an appointment with my usual doctor, but I was able to walk in and handle everything immediately with Visionworks. I'll be returning in the future because the convenience and quality of my experience were both great. read more

I was disappointed in the customer service and professionalism at the Visionworks on Perkins in Baton Rouge. The receptionist and the retail manager didn't show interest in helping me get the right size for my new glasses that weren't fitting well. When the receptionist told the retail manager she needed to assist me because she was the only employee who could, the retail manager told the receptionist, in front of customers, "I'm at lunch, I'm not on the clock." The receptionist then told me to come back the next day or wait 30 minutes for the retail manager to return from her lunch break. The Perkins location exhibited poor customer service and poor professionalism. I left this location, drove 15 minutes to the Florida Blvd location where I received impeccable service from the staff at the Florida Blvd location. read more

Customer for almost 20 years! This place has become the worst place to visit. Few staff are still nice but omg, the new manager lady is HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. She has no customer service skills at all. I'm in line to get reimbursed for something she mistakenly charged me for and this women literally walks off from the counter after waiting on the person in front of me. Didn't even acknowledge me at the counter. She left me standing as she went and fit another customer for glasses. Then, totally overlooked me and started saying out loud who's next to be waited on. Another worker notice what she did and asked me to just call back to get refunded after I had been there over and hour already. So yeah, I got to call back now, wow!! I loved going to Visionworks based on their selection of eye glasses, but I do not think I'll be back. My eyeglasses costed $300 even though I chose a bargain frame for $60 and used a 50% off coupon I received in the mail. I also have vision insurance, but it seems to not cover anything for eyeglasses here. The lady said that I had lost my prescription (that I brought in from a different optometrist) while I was looking for my frames and she gave it back to me... I no longer had my prescription sheet at that point. This could've been an honest mistake. She ended up giving me the copy she made of my prescription to keep. When I left after initially paying $300 and picking out my frames, she told me I could use my insurance for my lens to be replaced on my old pair another time. When I went to pick up my glasses she told me insurance did not cover it and I WILL be paying out of pocket no matter what. She then told me if I wanted my lens to be like the glasses I just got (the $300 glasses) it would need all of the same upgrades. I wasn't aware I upgraded my lens to have UV protection and scratch proof and blah blah. I do love the glasses I splurged on, but a clearer and more genuine sales approach would've been nice. She also asked me for my prescription sheet again and was inquiring that I saw a different doctor than theres. I'm not sure if they get bonuses here based on how many upgrades they do on lens and glasses BUT they make it seem like it's this huge hassle to get a new pair of eyeglasses... when in reality it just isn't. read more

I came up to her with a tray overflowing with frames and she expertly helped me drill down my selections. The staff is very friendly and patient. They will lie and tell you that insurance does not cover you and that it would be better for you to purchase using their 50% off deal, but in reality after checking with insurance it was actually covered and the price was significantly lower than their alleged 50% off deal. Awesome Optometrist BAD Support Staff! Upon entering the building, I was told to stand at a counter and fill out information. While my head was down, and I was writing, the sales lady pointed a temperature gun at my head. She did this with NO warning. As someone with PTSD, this startled me!! I confronted her about it. First she denied it, then she gave a cold apology. (older African American with short blonde hair). Problems trying on my glasses (same lady): I wanted a frame, but in a different size. She said they can't make special orders (I used to sell glasses. I know this is not true). I also watched them fit another lady for glasses. Her glasses needed an adjustment in the back of her ears. The sales lady said they can't adjust plastic frames... That is also a lie. Outrageous Pricing: The glasses at Vision Works are marked up by 60%. You can go to the Kate Spade or Ray-ban website and order THE SAME GLASSES, AT A FRACTION OF THE COST; and be reimbursed by your insurance. I mentioned this to the technician, she said "she didn't want to hear it,because they don't make the rules". I would love to know what the office manager has to say about this. The optometrist at the Perkins location is a joy to be around. I will continue getting my eyes examined by her. However, I WILL NOT purchase glasses here. read more

I've bought THOUSANDS of dollars at this store in the past and they refused to replace one nose pad because I didn't know if I had purchased that particular pair of frames from them. I even went in looking to buy a new pair of frames and lenses (expensive lenses) so it's not like I wanted something for nothing. But she wanted to charge me $50 more than an independent mom and pop store and said she couldn't (or wouldn't) fix my missing nose pad on my every day glasses. I will never return to this store again. This company miiiight want to rethink some of their current employees!! read more

Do not go to this Visionworks. Even when using your insurance the cost will be over $500. You will sit & wait for over 45 minutes - 1 hour. I waited weeks for the order to arrive at Visionworks only to find out it was the wrong contacts. They will smile & be as nice as possible.....Until after you pick up your contacts & eye glasses. My contact prescription was changed and they make my eyes water. They also cost a total of $178+. If this would have been explained to me when I initially purchased them, I would have kept using the brand I had. To make things worse this Brand of contacts is very difficult to find. I will wait the 1 year to be eligible to use my insurance so I can find an optical center that actually cares after you pick up your order!!! I will never enter another Visionworks especially this one at 9757 Perkins Road. If it was possible to rate them a ZERO I absolutely would! read more

Do not go here! Over two hours and not even finished with eye exam! Appointment was for 11:15 not even taken to the back till 11:55. Then dilated eyes said will come get you in 20 minutes it has now been 40 minutes and still waiting because they took another patient back. This is the worst customer service I have ever had for eye exam in the 30 plus years I've been wearing glasses. I now have to go elsewhere to get my glasses because God only knows how long it would take and what BS they would give me. So over 2 hours no glasses and eye exam not even complete. Very rude workers! They talk about customers while customers are right there. I had an appointment at 2:00 but came about 1:00 to see if they could take me early. I was willing to wait I was just checking. They were so rude about not taking me early and saying why would I even think they would? I was talked about twice while waiting. I've been a customer for several years, but will never return! I went in for an exam on Tuesday, which started off by the receptionist being very condescending and rude to me for not having received an email to do paperwork beforehand. After checking in, she came over to inform me that the doctor had actually left "and they didn't know".... I rescheduled hesitantly, but ultimately decided to go elsewhere for better service. I called to cancel my appointment today, and the same receptionist (a blonde woman, not sure of her name) yelled at me on the phone and spoke above me, instead of patiently waiting for me to reply to her original question. I have never experienced such rude or poor customer service from any establishment, and will certainly caution everyone I know to steer clear! I still cannot believe this place employs someone to talk to their customers in such a way. Truly a disrespectful and unprofessional environment. read more

My experience when I picked up my contacts was not great. First of all, when I called to order my contacts, the woman on the phone said they would rush order them and they would be in the next week. They were a week late. When I picked up my contacts, the lady who assisted me (I wish I remembered her name), asked me to verify my first and last name and address. I gave her my current address and she looked at me with a confused look. I then said "Is it ___?" stating my old address. And she replied, "I don't know! You tell me." So I tried to explain to her that I had moved within the last few months and the address on there could be my old apartment's address. I repeated both addresses to her and she scoffed at me. She had stopped listening to me at this point. I offered her my driver's license multiple times to verify that it was in fact my prescription. She denied taking my license saying "no we don't need that," to which I would respond, "it may be easier if you just look at my license, though." The back and forth of trying to get my contacts took far too long. The woman was extremely rude. She had a major attitude with me. I told her "I have never had so much difficulty trying to pick up my contacts," and she raised her voice at me, "well we have to make sure we give them to the right person!!" I once again suggested she just look at my driver's license but she was so stubborn and rude that she refused. Eventually, she listened to me re-explain that when I originally came in for an exam I was living elsewhere and that is the address they have on file. When I ordered the contacts, the woman on the phone did not ask me to update my address or ANY of my information, so I didn't think it would be a problem when I picked up my contacts. She finally just gave me the contacts after she asked me to verify my phone number. Ultimately, this was the stupidest interaction I've ever had with a person and she was incredibly rude. She scoffed and laughed at me as I was leaving the store. Also, since when are a name, address and phone number the best identifiers for someone when picking up a prescription? At least, ask name and DOB. And for goodness sake, if it is causing that much of an issue, just LOOK AT MY LICENSE. My business will not be returning to this particular location or Visionworks chains at all. read more

I just had the most unprofessional experience with Visionworks, or any company for that matter, over the telephone. As I called into the store to find out information as to how to go about getting my old glasses prescription, I was rudely greeted with an employee who ,first of all, hung the phone up on me twice, and ,second, lied about her name to me so I could not report her. First name she gave me was Denise, followed by an abrupt hang up on her end. The second name she gave me was Pat, I believe this is her actual name. I will be calling customer service to file a formal complaint, but everyone else at this store was very helpful and kind. Pat needs to find a new job that's NOT in customer service. read more

I went here last year for an eye exam. Everyone was lovely and funny. The optometrist was a black woman who made jokes and took care of me in a timely manner. Yesterday I called to make an appointment. It was scheduled for today at 3. I jokingly asked if it would take an hour and a half, because I had work at 4:30. This is an optometrists office; I've never had an appointment take anything remotely this long. I was told that it would not take an hour and a half. So I showed up today and waited an HOUR. I saw the last patient leave the exam room probably 15+ minutes before I peeked down the hallway to see the doctor, this time a white male, sitting down in the exam chair reading a novel. I'll say that again. The doctor was sitting on his butt, in the chair where I was supposed to be, reading a story book while at this point I had been waiting over an hour and would be late for work. This is not a "we got busier than we anticipated" situation. This is not a "unexpected things happened" situation. This is a "screw the patients, their time is worth nothing, so I'll just sit here on my fat ass and dick around instead of doing my job" situation. I'm not paying $80 out of pocket to be jerked around like that. I'm never going back. If you have any self respect, I'd go elsewhere. read more
