I've been going to Southern Eye for over 5 years and have always found their customer service excellent with no issues whatsoever with changing insurances or complicated plans. They have a good selection of glasses and Dr. Pickle is great taking time and always providing a thorough exam. read more

The location on Jefferson is unprofessional and doesn't follow through with their prescriptions. They don't send in your refills and not good on promptness. read more

Dr. Ann, the entire office staff, Stacy, everyone, exceptional care and service and I wouldn't go anywhere else for eye care. Highly recommend. I have difficult eye fitting for contacts and Dr. Ann truly is wonderful in handling it! I've never, ever, ever had any situation that even remotely resembled rudeness. Nothing but care and kindness from Dr. Ann and the entire office. They do their job, they do it well, they do it kindly and are professional at every single aspect of every single appointment and I've been seeing them for almost 20 years it seems. Don't trust negative reviews of rudeness. Kindness is always paramount in this office. read more

The optical portion of this practice is terrible. They never answer the phone and they never have a person working on a daily basis. Every time I call she is either on vacation or off. I cannot purchase glasses again with this group. read more

This is by far the optometrist I have been to. They never answer the phone and can be suiting right by it. They take forever to have your glasses ready and then have the nerve to have an attitude with you when you're trying to find out when they will be ready read more

I'm sitting in my office going over my expenditures and receipts for the day, and guess what I discovered? Today I had an eye exam and purchased progressive lenses and frames using my VSP benefits. At check out I was told one amount and the employee charged my card for nearly 50% more. This was no accident. She literally counted on me tossing my receipt...WTF. Apparently, I looked poor and stupid, but somebody should've told trashy Barbi that I'm a former revenue agent who counts everything (and soon to be licensed as an attorney in Louisiana). Her scam didn't last 24 hours. Probably running a refund fraud overcharging customers and stealing the difference (amateur). I sent email canceling my order which is sure to get the owners attention. This comes on the tail-end of a situation at Wal Mart on College where I was denied a refund when I had the receipt (of course I have the receipt, lol) simply because I didn't have tag. Went to Siegen and got refund in under 60 seconds. Called 1800WalMart and confirmed policy. Now, I'm waiting on a call from store manager as if he has nothing to do with his store ignoring corporate policy. Jatangy gon' learn today. WTF kind of name is Jatangy, anyway. Everyone hates corporations these days, but it's really the corrupt first line supervisors trying to impress their overlords in middle and upper management. I have two more stories from just the last 48 hours. The world is unbelievable... read more

Awful customer service and patient care from assistants, though Dr Pickle seems knowledgeable and good with kids. My daughter, who is a patient there, was running out of contact lenses. She was close to being due for eye exam so I scheduled it and asked for a few days worth of trial lenses until her exam. I asked on Monday and kept being promised an answer every time I called or stopped by until Friday, I called and got a hold of assistant who REFUSED to give some contacts until eye exam because of "policy" I've never heard of such bad policies and I've been going to eye doctor for over 25 years!! Usually, offices do not pay for the trials, the vendors provide them as courtesy. Why so nasty and stingy?! I don't understand. I cancelled her appointment. Will look for new eye clinic for two kids and myself. read more

This place has a great selection of glasses and Stephen helped me pick out a pair of glasses that look amazing on me. Also this is the first pair of glasses that fit my ears correctly as I have one ear higher than the other. They have this great machine that takes photos of your face to ensure a great fit. It's awesome. I was also worried about getting bifocals for the first time, and he calmed me down and explained why I should go with the progressive lenses. He was spot on!! I love being able to easily read and switch to seeing distance in a snap. They also have done a great job of taking care of my daughter's glasses too. Very happy with their services!! read more

Dr. Ann and Dr. Adam have helped me out for both regular check ups and twice in emergency situations, one of which turned out to be a pretty serious staph infection. Dr. Ann made me feel calm and fixed the problem. The frame selection is awesome, too! I have purchased at least 4 frames there over the years, sunglasses, too. read more

Staff is awesome, so funny and easy to work with. Minimal wait. Pleasurable experience from start to finish. Will definitely be back.

I could not be happier with Southern Eye Center. I was a regular client here in college (9 years ago at LSU), and they were always nice, welcoming, and accepted my insurance :) Last month, after not having been in for YEARS, I called in a panic once I realized that (a few days before my wedding) I didn't have any more contacts and my prescription was WAY expired. They were so nice and fit me in to their fully booked schedule on about 15 hours notice, and even hooked me up with an extra pair to get me thru the honeymoon. These amazing people have always been great to me, I cannot recommend them highly enough. read more

Front desk staff was very friendly but Ann Shaw is the worst most unproffesional doctor I have ever come across. She was RUDE, snappy & seemed extremely irritated by having to do her job. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! read more

I have been going to Southern Eye Center since 2011, never had a moments trouble. So when my 17 year old daughter needed to go to the eye doctor I sent her to see Dr. Shaw. She did not receive the same service that my wife and I have gotten in the past. The Dr. she saw was rude and made her experience there miserable. She asked me to never send her there again. They changed the brand of contacts she was wearing. Then when she went back to get the brand she has been wearing for years was only given a few as a trials. Then when she went to pick her order up she was told she had to pay for contacts that she did not have. I have taken off of work more than once to deal with this because the office manager Krystal will not return phone calls and can not make a decision on her own. Has to talk to Dr. Shaw about everything. She needs to get a watch because she does not return phone calls in timely manner. If Dr. Shaw wants to improve the office, needs to find a better office manager. The receptionist is very friendly and helpful. Just like a previous reviewer I too had to pay for contacts that I do not have. I hope the 75.00 dollars extra really comes in handy to buy the office manager a watch and a new attitude. I will never go back and I will make sure that I tell everyone how my daughter was treated here. Hope it was worth it. read more

What I like about this place is that I switched insurance providers but my prescription was still good and they let me go get new contacts without making an appointment as a new client. Other places I had called told me I'd have to have a new exam before they'd order me contact lenses. The only thing that I didn't like was that the lady at the front desk told me I had to use my whole entire insurance allotment (125) because she said I wouldn't be able to use my remaining funds next time if I didn't. Well, I went ahead and ended up using my entire insurance allotment for the year only to find out from my insurance company that wasn't true and I could've saved some funds for next time. Also, it took 8 days for my contacts to come in and I had to call twice to check on them. They were in, thank goddess I called myself to find out because no one has called me. I've ordered contacts from 1-800-Contacts in the past and had my lenses in a couple days. Other than that, I'll probably give this place a shot again next time I need a new exam. read more

I have worn contacts for 30 years. This place does not carry Acuvue lenses. They measured my eye wrong and I was really inconvenienced. Caveat Emptor. read more
