Dr. Lee is an Excellent doctor! Never want to see another eye doctor again. Although since this merge at the avondale location I feel the front staff are far from desirable. The young man who was there when I originally became a patient was excellent and needs to be brought back. The new women who have been different every time I have gone in are clueless and the blonde who seems to be running the front is rude. Never acknowledged and treated like I am bothering them when I check in or am picking up contacts. I use to recommend this place to my colleagues but after this years visit and 3 check ins with the rude front staff I will be on the search for a new office. Making the appointment and office hours were great. However, from the moment I walked in the office to the moment I walked out, it felt rushed and uncomfortable and EVERY single staff member seemed so damn annoyed to be there. The doctor's body language and facial expressions while doing my son's exam was so uncomfortable. Picking out 2 sets of glasses for two different people was rough and I didn't even end up get any for myself because I wanted to hurry up and leave. I also called today to see if I could make a change to the order for my child's glasses and the response I get is "you won't be refunded if you make changes" I get that, clearly, but that wasn't my question, then I'm told she will let the optician know.... so I'm left wondering if she even heard my question. Every interaction I've had has been rude and made to feel that I am a nuisance. I went with Vision Wellness because they are the preferred vendor with my insurance, I will not be returning, besides to pick up my sons glasses. read more

This place is awful! DO NOT GO!!!! I am very unhappy was all of my glasses. Dr. Lee gave me an incorrect lens, therefore putting off my glasses for two months. After wanting a refund, he asked if he could do anything to make it better. After agreeing to let him do my script again, my Gucci lens fell out of frame, and office manager would not replace. Then after receiving other glasses, lenses appear to be cheap. I don't trust them. Sun glasses are terrible as well, so is office manager. Not a friendly office. read more

I have been advising people who ask me about where to go for their vision to NOT go to this place!!!!! The only good part was the doctor/exam. Everything else was a sorry excuse for a vision practice. Wait time long, and after paying $170 for my glasses (after insurance) my frames were in need of repair when I got them. IReturned 4 days later to find that my glasses no longer look new (I have not worn them yet!), and now have a bright shiny silver screw sticking out, which shows in the red frame. Thats what I got for $170. Never again!! BAD service!!!!! read more

I really don't like this place at all. I saw the reviews and decided to give it a try but I have had better experiences at Walmart Vision Center to be honest (and that says a lot because it's Walmart :-/ ). I feel rushed through the exam after having to wait 30 - 45 minutes just to see the Dr. I don't know the person who did the preliminary eye testing maybe his name is Adam all I know is that he is rude, never says hello never smiles and really could care less that you are a patient. Dr. Lee is okay but I still feel a coldness while I am there like I am wasting their time or something. I will not be going back. I did not give 1 star because I've actually had worse experiences so I don't think they deserve a 1 but in my opinion they are less than average. Front office staff is useless! I arrived at the front desk for my appointment and had to wait until the girl popped a hard candy in her mouth before she addressed me. Mouth full of candy she rattled off a bunch of check-in stuff and had me look over a form and sign it. No friendly smile or nice greeting....just doin' her job. The other girl asked her if she checked my insurance eligibility (which is something you do BEFORE the patients appt!). The candy girl said "No, but I'll call now". While Im waiting to hear if my insurance is going to cover this, Im called back to start the eye exam. Before we start I tell the tech that I need to check with the front desk because they said they were checking my eligibility. I return to the front desk and ask if they checked. Candy girl, still with a mouth full of candy says "Yeah, you're eligible every 24 months". I said "It should show in your records that I was just here last year so I need to cancel this appt. The other girl says "Well let me call again just to be sure". So I wait while one girl is on the phone checking again (mentioning all of my personal information over the phone while people are lining up...so much for HIPAA!) while the other is smacking on candy and fiddling around with the paperclip holder. It was confirmed again....every 24 months. But for $75 I can keep my appointment. No thanks! If you can get past the front office staff you'll find that Dr. Lee and the technicians are very pleasant and thorough. I'm not sure if I'll return to this location. read more

I used to love going here. They used to be so helpful when they were under different ownership. Now that the practice has been sold, the staff's attitudes have changed completely. The doctors are great but in order to see the doctors you have to deal with the front office staff. They lost my husband and my glasses and blamed it on our insurance (I've had the same insurance for 7 years and never had an issue before). They didn't come out an tell me our glasses were missing. I only found out because I called them every day for a week after they should have been in until they would admit there was a problem. They hurried and covered their butts by having me pick out new glasses (they didn't have the same frames anymore) and sending it to their lab. So for a while I thought I thought it really was a lab issue. Until I wanted to change contacts. My vision changed significantly in about 3 months (I had two eye exams in three months) and I wanted to change contact brands (which would have been my third exam). Since I had already used my vision exam for this year, I had to pay out of pocket. They insisted I needed to give them $70.00 to just change brands. I explained that didn't even need an eye exam and they said it's $70.00 take it or leave it. I had made the appointment for 6:45 and it wasn't until the day of when I received a phone call stating my appointment was at 6:30 and they wanted me to come in earlier. I was at work on the other side of town and no way I would make it by 6:30 and I surely wouldn't make it earlier than that. I begged them to let me be a little late, and they told me if I was any later than 6:40 I would have to reschedule and come on another day. I made it to their office (after calling them twice on the way to tell them I'm almost there) at 6:42. They told me they might not take me. (Seriously, I was early for the actual appointment I had made) They decided to take me. I had a very short exam and the doctor told the girl up front to only charge me $40.00 which was much more reasonable for the 30 second discussion on new contacts. I ordered contacts and they stated they would be into their office in about 3 days. Two weeks later and running out of trial contacts, my contacts had not come in. When I called to ask where they were, they said they had to call me back and never called. When I finally spoke to someone they claimed they were back ordered. I finally got them after a total of two and a half weeks. Today, my husband called with an actual eye emergency and they refuse to work him in for a whole week. The person he spoke to was such a jerk about it also. I understand it's busy but this is an emergency. Thankfully we found a new doctor that will see him first thing tomorrow. It's sad how they don't care about patients that have been going there for five years especially when they have a very scary eye situation. read more

I just recently went in to see Dr. Lee and i didn't have the best experience. Overall the tech was vey sweet and friendly and was perfect. When the doctor came in he seemed very distressed. I don't know if he is the only one there during the time I went or what but he seemed very rushed and they forgot to do one of the tests and the doctor ended up doing it because the tech was busy. He was literally running around me. He kind of assumed that I wanted to stay with the same contact brand, but I didn't and before he ran out again I told him that I didn't and he changed the type of contact. I'm still feeling very unsure about the prescription he gave me with the powers of my eyes since he switched one of the powers 3 min before me leaving. I feel my eyes dropped a lot more then what he said. I paid $120 full for a doctor that was on a rush and seemed very nervous and uneasy and the worrying feeling that the powers of your eyes are not accurate after paying so much money. I don't know, I don't think I'll be back. On top that ordering from 1800 contacts is a better option because if your contacts get ruined you can actually call them or IM them and they'll ship it free for you and you don't have to save the damaged contact. I recently found this out and it's a lot cheaper! Plus free shipping and handling. Very satisfied with 1800! Not completely satisfied with this doctor though. I just needed a prescription and that's all I needed. Whether or not it's correct idk but I have no more time left and didn't want to go back to him just out of comfort. read more

I have been coming here for awhile now and this was the first and last time I will have an issue as I will not be returning, neither will my kids. I have never had to pay for anything and have never been billed. I checked in just fine, my daughters began their exams. I opted to do the dilation since my insurance covers it and I was told the machine would not be covered. When it came to me, the lady told me the machine would be better for my type of exam because the picture would stay on file. I said ok because all overages that my insurance doesn't cover is paid out of a health savings account. All exams are finished and we are heading out the door only to be told I owe $75. Apparently I DO have a $40 copay and a $35 copay for use of the machine. None of this was told to me prior. I do not just have $75 laying around. I tried to ask for assistance, making payments or being billed to which the front desk lady said all copays were due at time of services with a cold voice. She didn't even look up at me. As if having my two young daughters there was not stressful enough, but now I have to find out how to pay the $75. Thanks a lot, and not thanks. I am glad the dr said none of us really need to come in anymore unless we notice a change in our sight because we will not be coming in. I was coming because it was free to me, all billed to insurance and health savings account. So now you are losing 3 patients and any potential referrals in the future. read more

First eye exam since moving to Phoenix. I had high expectations after seeing the same, great optometrist since I was in high school. I would say that my expectations were met, I just wished they had a better selection of glasses. They can special order frames, but glasses are too personal of an item to order sight unseen IMO. Dr. Wong wasn't as entertaining as my old doc, but can't say anything bad about her. They are utilizing some new gadgets/technology that I think may lend to a more thorough exam than I'm used to. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I didn't feel rushed through, nor did I wait long (maybe 10 mins after my scheduled time). All in all a positive experience. read more

I went to this office based on the reviews. I spoke to Sarah on the phone and requested an evening appointment for myself and my husband. She said that she could get us in much faster, on a Saturday. I thought that was great, since I was calling on a Wednesday and getting in that very Saturday. She told us it was a 'walk-in' process and had been working really well, with positive patient feedback. I told Sarah that while that sounded good, I didn't want to wait a long time, as my husband especially wouldn't like that. She said she completely understood and assured me, the wait wouldn't be long. She told me to be there by 9 am and said we would be seen quickly. She even said I could come at 10 am...I chose the 9 am. She told us to fill out the paperwork before hand, so it will be even faster. Sarah also said that families are seen together, so my husband and I would be in and out at the same time. The day of the appointment, we arrive just before 9 am, all paperwork done and are told that we can't be seen until at least 9:45 am! The office was so busy, with people filling the waiting room. Sarah didn't even look up at us to give eye contact as she spoke and we didn't recieve a well reception. Felt like cattle in a huge heard. We spoke to the other person at the desk, (Jay, I believe), so said we could wait or come back at 9:45. We went for coffee and came back at 9:35. We sat until 10:20 when I got up to ask what was taking so long. A woman was shuffing the charts around and happened to have mine in her hand. She seemed peeved that I was at the counter as she and Sarah talked. She aburptly asked if she could help me, and I asked how much longer....she showed me the chart and asked if that was me, I said yes, and she walked me in a room...left the door open and then finally came back to me in 10 min's! She never addressed me by name or told me who she was. I still don't have clue to who she was...she wasn't a doctor, but she did do a bunch of assessments on me...in a HUGE rush! My husband went to ask why he wasn't called next, and Sarah said she had to go in order of how people came in...(uh, we came in together!). She also told him , "I told your wife to be here at 8:30" This boiled my blood, as it was a complete lie...she offered 9 or 10 am. I have the email for proof that she said 9am. I felt she lied on purpose to him, thnking I wouldn't know and it would save the office face for treating people so bad. I really felt that they tried to squueze as many people in, making us wait for 90 min's to be seen, plus the time of the appointment and being left in rooms for 10 min's at at time as people came in went and shuffled us around doing tests. Dr. Lee seemed nice, he is the only one who finally used our names and introduced himself. He left us in a room and came back and asked if I was taken for the 'puff' test. I just looked at him. He seemd upset, shot out of the room, and then the lady came in to take me away for that test. I am sure that the doctor's are good. But in the end we felt like it was all about collecting the most money that day and nothing about patient care or customer service. We are done, and will not be going back. There are plenty of other eye doc's in the area and I'm sure someone else will make us feel welcome and address us by name and give eye contact and not lie to our faces like Sarah did. Had I know they opened at 8 am...I would have been there. Good luck....but please do avoid Saturdays! read more

I was not fortunate enough to have a great experience described by some of the other reviewers. I made an appointment at the Avondale office because it is close to my home and advertised extended hours. The latest appointment I was able to get was 5:20 pm. I left work early to make the appointment. I was five minutes late due to an accident that shut the freeway down to one lane. When I arrived at the office I apologized profusely for my tardiness and asked if there was any way I could still be seen. The front desk representative I was speaking with asked her colleague if it would be possible. Her colleague glared at me and said I would need to reschedule. The representative I was speaking with followed-up with her colleague asking if it would be ok if she checked with the Doctor to see if they may be willing to take me. This time her colleague turned to her and said in a raised voice "I said she will have to reschedule". Needless to say, I did not reschedule. While I understand I was a bit late to the appointment, there was definitely a more professional way this could have been handled. My overall rating is low due to the rude woman at the front desk who was completely unwilling to attempt to help however, I do give credit to the young woman who attempted to be helpful. read more

Dr. Lee is a great eye doctor! I've been going to Vision Wellness for years and always receive excellent care and customer service.

I took my 6-year-old in for an exam because she was having trouble seeing the whiteboard in class. We don't have vision insurance so the cost was $75 for the eyeglass exam. That seemed a bit high to me but it was the only place that was nearby that could get her in without me having to take off of work or pull her out of school. When she had her exam I could see why the price might be higher than other places. All of the machines were super high tech, and they took a photo of the back of her eyes, which I think was used in place of dilation. The tech had a hard time doing it because my daughter can't sit still so the optometrist came out and helped. The exam itself was very thorough and age appropriate. The dr was super patient with my daughter and with all of my questions. We ended up purchasing a cute pair of juicy couture frames (I guess my kid has expensive taste) and the basic lenses. The salesperson who helped us with the purchase wasn't pushy at all - she did mention the more expensive lenses and add-ons but didn't argue with me when I told her they were unnecessary. I did notice in other reviews people said the glasses selection wasn't very big and that's true (in comparison to a place like LensCrafters) but they had a surprisingly large selection of children's frames - more than the Target optical store where I buy my own frames. I will not be returning to Vision Wellness in Goodyear, nor will I recommend them to anyone. Maybe the Avondale location is better? The only staff that I saw that wasnt rude was the blonde girl up front and Susan, the Drs assistant. The lady up front was so kind and helped me get in to see the Dr quickly and on somewhat of short notice. The drs assistant was very friendly, seemed to know what she was doing with the machines, and made me and my son feel as though we were the only patients in the office. The Dr interupted her twice to help other patients when clearly her assistant was helping me get through the machines. How inconciderate to not only me, but also to her assistant! When the Dr finally did get around to seeing me she didnt seem confident with the informantion she was telling me, and couldnt even tell me the price of the contacts I needed. It seemed like a big run a round when it came to the contacts. The Dr talked to me about which ones, then she had her assistant come in to talk to me about pricing, and then the Dr came back in to talk to me again. I think the Dr could have told me everything and I could have not had so much of my time waisted waiting around in the exam room. When I told the Dr I was just going to do the contacts,and not the glasses she acted as though she was disapointed and like I wasnt important to her anymore. I thought Vision Wellness was about customer service, but apparently they just want that dollar. Ill be going elswhere next time, as will my family and friends. read more

I have not had good experiences with this vision center. On my first visit went in for my appointment and was told I did not have an appointment. The lady in the front told me she was going to put me in told me to have a seat and will come to tell me how long to wait. Looks like they simply schedule way too many patients in too short a timeframe. How disappointing! I had a dreadful experience with Vision Wellness. They made my glasses and then had to remake the lenses, twice. It was a nightmare getting them to admit the lenses were not right. The eye doctor told me he was not going to absorb the expense of remaking the lenses because when he rechecked my vision it was the same. Well, the third time, they didn't even let the Dr near me, they brought in their problem solver,who was very nice and got to the bottom of the problem and finally I had glasses that were right. This took up too much of my time and exhausted my patience, they don't get another chance. read more

This place has some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced I don't normally give reviews but this one really took it for me. When I fist did my exam the lady up in the counter kept trying to argue with me about my second vision plan as if she paid my bill for it and I didn't know what I had and that I needed a card and I told her I have the card on my phone on the application for the insurance but for some reason that wasn't proof enough for her eventually she figured it out after the insurance people told her the same thing I did but anyways the doctor was the only good service I got from this place because afterwards the customer service just sucked. They said that my glasses would be ordered and that they would take 15 days to arrive I was like ok. I wait 14 days and I finally call and see what's going on I speak to some girl up front she informs me that my glasses have been ready for almost 2 weeks and that I should have received an automated call so I was like ok maybe I gave them the wrong number I asked her to check it and turns out they had the correct one so I tell her I didn't receive any call maybe you guys should check your system she says it's not a text message it's a call. I was like no one said anything about a text message I said I didn't receive a call you guys should check your so called automated system if I hadn't of called I probably would have never known that they had my glasses ready for pick up. I read so many bad reviews from this place and almost all of them have to do with the girls up front and their customer service. Hello Jessica. I would like to apologize in advance for the sarcasm with which I will reply to your comments. Since you were not in the exam room with me nor were you even in the building when any of this occurred and you have chosen to comment on matters you have absolutely no knowledge of, you have, unfortunately, put yourself in this position. Please allow me to begin by stating there was no exaggeration of anything. Had you been in the exam room during my exam, you would have witnessed THE FACT that the Dr. didn't "answer all questions presented", since I had no questions whatsoever. It was not until my exam was OVER that I asked if she was going to check for my reading prescription. It was not until that moment that she put those funny looking glasses on me and gave my a card to read. You also stated that doing a "trial frame" is uncommonly done. I believe you are mistaken since that is the way to test for reading close up and which is why it is part of a ROUTINE EXAM. I have nothing derogatory to say about the Dr.only that the exam was a bit rushed and not as thorough,....which is simply A FACT AND NOT AN EXAGGERATION. In addition, you stated the Dr. mentioned my difficulties with getting glasses in the past. Maybe the FACT that my exam was rushed is probably why the Dr. misunderstood. This would have been my first pair of prescription glasses. I had a previous prescription from last year and just needed an updated exam....but have never had prescription glasses. Again, FACT AND NOT EXAGGERATION. Next, you failed to address or acknowledge the FILTH in your display area so I will assume you wanted to avoid the subject altogether. The reality is your displays were FILTHY....period. For you to say it was not to my standards is calling the rest of your customers dirty pigs, since only a dirty pig would enjoy and compliment those DISGUSTING DISPLAYS. You also mentioned the optician heard of my preference and pulled some glasses from the back to show me. THAT IS A BLATANT LIE, since the only preference I stated was to see the entire display. I guess you feel I should have been happy sitting there hours while your optician DECIDED WHICH GLASSES TO SHOW ME, as if I had nothing else to do. Maybe you should keep your entire display in the back and only bring out a few at a time for each customer. Maybe then you will realize how ridiculous that is rather than continue to state "BUT THAT WAS NOT TO YOUR SATISFACTION". What a stupid thing for you to say. As far as patient privacy and denying me access to the glasses.....I simply do not believe you. Your staff was adamant about refusing any kind of access and made ZERO EFFORT to even attempt to bring out the display. I am sure, had they wanted to help me, they would have tried to figure out a way to do so. I can only imagine the disaster in that back area. If your displays for the public were that FILTHY I can only imagine how many "other health code violations" are kept in the back...and, by the way, there is no patient privacy....your front office person calls the insurance and communicates what appears to be privileged medical information for the entire waiting room to hear so you might want to check that too, since you say I have given you much to discuss. The bottom line is that YOUR STAFF IS RUDE and there are a few other reviews suggesting the same. What happened to me should not have happened and you have done absolutely nothing to acknowledge the manner in which I was treated. YOUR STAFF HAS LIED ABOUT THE FACTS AS THEY OCCURRED. No worries though....as you probably know I have awesome vision insurance so, in the end, your office lost out. I am sure the owner doesn't care to see money walking out the door as a result of something so trivial and completely avoidable. I am glad you called the insurance for a new display....I doubt, however, anyone will ever see those glasses that "I was entitled to"....your optician FAILED TO MENTION THEM OR OFFER THEM AS AN OPTION ON MY ORIGINAL VISIT so I can only imagine it is just part of what appeared to me as fraudulent practices.
