Gardner Family Eye Care - Dr. Maliha Asadullah

    Gardner Family Eye Care

First of all I have been going to Gardner Eye for annual eye exams, for several years, every time I…read morego you get a new optometrist. I assume they are straight out of college with little to no experience. Here's what happened to me, 3 weeks before my scheduled eye exam I experienced pain in my right eye, I thought it was dry eye, I purchased over the counter meds. When I had my eye exam Dr. Maliha Asadullah she agreed it was dry eye. She said continue with over the counter meds and if it gets worse make a appointment to come back. It did get worse so I made an appointment right before Christmas 2025. She prescribed prescription dry eye meds and a steroid drop. Still my eye did not get better, by this time I could not keep my eye open. I finally got a appointment with a ophthalmologist, my eye was infected. So I was misdiagnosed, told I had dry eye, when in fact my eye was infected. Worse part is the cost, $40 copay to see Dr. Maliha Asadullah, and the prescriptions cost over $150.00. Good luck if you go to Gardner Eye for anything but regular eye exams. I suggest you go to a ophthalmologist.

The issue was remedied and rectified and Audrey delivered well beyond my expectations. Gardner Eye Care has state-of-the-art equipment optimizing health for eye care. Their ophthalmologist Dana De Vito was sweet, very professional and explained my exam procedure in great detail. She was stellar. It was my first visit there but will be returning for my annual from here on.

I have gone to JC Penny's optical, a place in the mall and another franchise optical location frequently advertised. *Nothing compares to Dr Days service. I give Dr Day 5 stars The prices however are on the high end. I pay out of pocket - no insurance. I usually get an eye exam for contacts and 1 pair of name brand glasses and spend at least $800-$1000 not including any contacts. Where as at Penny's for the same brand I'm around $600. Dr Days frames & lenses ARE high quality. So if you have the funds &/or insurance, I HIGHLY recommend him. For children's glasses, I'd save the money and go to Pennys. That's what I do for my 3 children. The staff there now.....is sadly not even what it use to be. I miss Gloria. She was amazing, kind and always a joy to see. Last time I was there I was informed she passed away. The 2 youngest ladies are not a good hire for being the face of the office. There was a financial issue with one of them (which I won't call out on social media) but now I'm in collections. Gloria would have NEVER handled the situation as these 2 did. I was considering contacting Dr Day himself when the issue happen, but who am I? A divorced mom of 3, paying out of pocket, trying to see.. Only Gloria was considerate to our personal situations. 2 STARS for the 2 front desk gals that were not pleasant.

I went in to Dr. Gardner's office (same location) about a year and a half ago for new glasses, they could not get my progressive's correct. The top portion for distance is virtually useless and they told me that technology was not there to get my particular case correct. About 3 weeks ago the lenses experienced what is known as "crazing," that is where the protective coating will spot then fracture and peal off. At first Dr. Gardner's office would not address it but when pressed they called the lab who agreed to redo my lenses and guarantee them for 2 years. Great turn around - 2 days, however.... the left lens had no prescription on it and the right lens was not my prescription - back to the lab. 1 Week goes by, no return calls from Dr. Gardner's office to my messages, rude behavior from staff, and the office manager instructed everyone to not take my calls or help me according to "Denise" who works both the Hickory Hills office and the Homer Glen office and they refused to give me the name of the office manager. I had contacted Dr. Gardner's associate, Dr. Day's office and they could not have been more compassionate and courteous to me. In fact... I was headed down there when I decided to call Dr. Day's receptionist back to ask if I could have my files transferred over to them and she informed me that she overheard Dr. Gardner's staff say that if I showed up to the Hickory Hills location, they would have me arrested!! Can you actually believe that!?!? So... my glasses supposedly have been on some fictitious UPS truck for a week and I have no idea if I will ever see the $600 designer glasses I paid for ever again!! I am currently using an old pair (8 yrs old) of single vision glasses; I cannot see my keyboard and I have to have my face now up close to my computer screen in order to use my computer!! The staff at Dr. Day's office, upon my request, is going to graciously walk over and have all my records transferred over to them and when and "if" I ever see my glasses again, if there are still any problems, they will do what they can to help me sort it out. So to rehash.... Dr. Gardner's office.... UNPROFESSIONAL TO THE EXTREME!! (I was told that they have at least 5 patients arrested per year)!! Go see Dr. Day and you will be treated with the kind of respect any person would appreciate to be treated by. Just say NO to Dr. Gardner and say YES to Dr. Day....

That is part of an Advocate Health Care office building and it is adjacent to a surgicenter just off the intersection of I-80 and LaGrange Road, very easy to find for all to find including Uber and Lyft drivers. There is ample parking. This was a yearly follow-up non-emergency appointment in a new setting for my ophthalmologist which included a new pair of glasses for me as I wanted to replace my older ones. My ophthalmologist is a provider at the practice and it was great to see her in her new setting; they are state of the art equipment and computer applications utilized. The staff are excellent. Part of the staffing include an optician who really knows her field. We found a suitable glasses frame very easily. The orientation of the practice accommodates all ages including pediatric care. As I came into the practice via Medicare, supplemental coverage and out of pocket, I do not know their insurance details. When making an appointment, I would ask about insurance coverage including optical. Note: if you wish bring your own coffee; there are vending machines in the space between the office complex and the surgicenter which is near the main entrance to the building.
