With all the rain this season I knew things would continue to worsen and I assumed it was a problem with the flashing. I contacted my insurance agent for a referral and he recommended KC Roofing & Restoration Solutions. This company was more than accommodating and promptly visited Mom's home to review the situation. The hard truth was that the company that had put the existing roof in place had used the incorrect flashing and it had pulled away. The flashing was not meant to be used on masonry. Charles was great to work with and explained what needed to be done with a quick turnaround on the estimate. He answered all my questions and now that the work is completed I am more than happy. During the process today, Charles provided me with photos of the different stages of the work - even found a good match for the existing roofing shingles and used waterproof membrane (like an honest roofer should!) before replacing the shingles and finishing with lead flashing (which is what should have been used previously). Oh, and I also had them replace the chimney "cap" as it was also contributing to the leaking issues. Highly recommend - did not want to have a mold remediation sometime down the road! Great value and peace of mind!

Their driver was swerving in and out of their lane for a long stretch of the road, and several times it looked like they were intentionally trying to hit my car. When I finally honked to alert them, they responded by accelerating to at least 15 mph over the speed limit. At the next red light, they refused to move when it turned green. Then, right before it turned red again, they suddenly took off--only to continue driving just as recklessly. When I rolled down my window and told them to stay in their lane, they sped up to around 60 mph, which is over 20 mph above the posted limit. This kind of dangerous, irresponsible driving is completely unacceptable for anyone--let alone someone operating a company vehicle fully branded with the Ramirez Roofing name. If this is how their employees behave on the road, I can only imagine what kind of care (or lack of care) goes into their work. I would never trust a company that allows this level of recklessness to represent them. Absolutely unacceptable. Edit to my original review: I want to clarify a few important details. The drivers this company spoke to are not being honest -- they were driving recklessly and nearly ran me off the road. The person who answered the phone refused to actually speak with me about what happened. No one yelled at her. I simply asked if she understood what I was saying, which for some reason she took as me asking if she spoke English. Instead of answering or discussing the situation, she refused to engage, so I told her I would escalate it to the police if she continued to shut down the conversation. She was the one refusing to act like an adult. When she asked if I got the license plate and I explained that it was dark and I only saw the company name on the van, she hung up on me. I have not received a call back -- only an aggressive public response to my Google review. My "creative version" is actually the truth, and it's disappointing that they would rather dismiss concerns than address reckless driving by their employees. Based on other reviews, poor communication and a complete lack of accountability seem to be an ongoing problem with this company.

The communication that had been so key early on had faded, and I honestly didn't know if we were on the schedule or had been completely punted. I had to follow up to ensure things were on track. It took multiple weeks to have someone out. I think it's because of the frequent rains throwing off the schedule, but again it felt my messages were sort of going to a void. They gave me about an hours notice when someone was coming out, and he did a really nice job. I was very surprised when I got the bill and it was $125 more than it's ever been in the past. Especially surprising because the email thread we had been going back and forth in had our prior invoice at $275, not at $400. When I asked what was up they cited that it took their employee three hours and my gutters were more clogged than before. To me, nothing has really changed, if anything we have had more trees trimmed back, and more importantly, I didn't know that would affect the cost so dramatically. It had been under a year and half since I last had them out. Had I known, I absolutely would've gone with a more reasonable option. I also felt like their response was a bit off-putting, and I'm surprised because again we've hired them at least three times and I've had such positive interactions up until now. I'll be looking elsewhere moving forward; they do a nice job, and are a professional enough company, but the lack of customer service and shockingly high bill will have me finding a new go-to for my annual gutter cleanings.

He came out, reviewed the issue, ascertained that the leak was likely due to flashing issues around vent pipes, and said he would send out his best worker to fix the problem the following week. After one additional follow up call (the following week turned into a week and a half), the roofer came out and fixed the problem. (We hope.) I'm still not impressed with how long it took to get in touch with Gentry. Their answering service has very nice people working for it, but they're basically useless when it comes to scheduling. They need to work on that. I also didn't enjoy having to get the former contractor involved. I'm not interested in working with them again, and every time I contact them for any reason, they want to know when we're going to be updating our kitchen. ::sigh:: But, hopefully, our roof has been fixed. Original review: Gentry installed our new DaVinci Bellaforte Shake 50 yr tiles back in 2012. Great product, seemingly great company...we were very happy with their work and product. However, here we are in 2017, and we have a leak. We discovered it a couple of weeks ago after several rounds of heavy rain in the Kansas City area in early/mid August. I contacted Gentry immediately, the day we discovered the leak, which was Tuesday, August 22nd. I left a message with their delightful receptionist, Edna, and waited to hear back. Friday, August 25th, I followed up with a phone call to John Howard's cell number that I have, and had to leave another message. I still hadn't heard back by Tuesday, Aug 29th, so I contacted Edna at the office again. She took my information, said she would make a note that this was my 2nd time calling (I told her technically it was the 3rd, since I'd left a message on John's cell the previous Friday), and apologized for the delay in someone getting back to me. It is now Saturday, Sept 9th. I left another message with what sounded like an answering service on Weds, Sep 6th, and also tried reaching John again via his cell phone on Thursday, Sep 7th, hoping that due to the earlier hour, I might be able to catch him before he got busy during the day. Friday, I left another message with the service, who was apologetic again about my lack of response, but...still no call back. We love our new roof, and the only thing we would do differently is to install clips to help with ice and snow sliding issues at the time of the install of the roof. (Although, to be honest, I don't know if the issue is with the type of product used, or the installation, or what, so maybe I don't love our roof? ::sigh:: ) But at this time, I cannot recommend Gentry Roofing, until I hear back from one of their representatives who can help us with the leak in our roof. I'm worried that, since our 5 year warranty on the "workmanship" is about to expire in October, I'm being ignored due to that. (p.s. my husband and a contractor that we were working with at the time hired Gentry without doing any background checking on them. Their webpage has all of 1 former client "testimonial" on it, and there are literally NO REVIEWS anywhere on the internet about the company. They aren't a member of the BBB, so that's not a route that can be taken to file complaints. It's concerning.
