The company who'd replaced our roof didn't replace the flat part. They said it didn't need to be replaced. It was a rainy day when they collected the check. As soon as they were gone, our family room ceiling opened up and gallons of water poured in. The roofing company agreed to replace the flat roof but they did a sloppy job. I had someone on my roof who was screening off areas where critters could access our attic and they told me that flat roof needed to be replaced, sooner than later. I contacted several companies recommended by people on the Nextdoor app. One company came out to give me a quote but never returned my calls. Another company told me they were only doing roof replacements. I appreciated their honesty. I was very specific when I called roofing companies; I didn't need a new roof. One guy came out and told me he could contact my insurance company and tell them my roof had been damaged from a storm. We'd not had any damage to our roof from storms and that's bordering on insurance fraud. I decided to check out Yelp recommendations and saw that Easton had a lot of good reviews. When I called, they were very nice and told me they'd send someone out. The guys from Easton were there on time and they gave me an estimate. The estimate was very reasonable so I called to schedule the repair. The workers were very nice, professional, timely and they were there everyday until it was finished. They cleaned up after the repair so I wasn't finding random pieces of roofing material. Everyone, from the woman who answered the phone to the guys who did the repair was very nice and the whole process was seamless. Easton completed the repair and after years of checking ceilings, I can finally relax. Another contractor I'd used to remodel our house often needed access to the roof. I didn't ask him to check the flat roof but while he was up there, he wanted to check it out. He assured me they'd done a very good job and then asked for their info so he'd have the name of a good roofing company if one of his clients was looking to replace their roof. When an outstanding contractor is impressed with the work done by another company and asking for the company's info, that says a lot. If we have to replace our roof, we'll definitely use Easton and if anyone needs a roof replacement or repair, I highly recommend them. They've earned those 5 star reviews.

My husband and I knew it would be a huge project as we had a 40 year old wood shake shingle roof that was not insurable and needed to go probably 10 years ago. We ended up having three different companies out to bid, one we had used before for a smaller project that gave a competitive bid and two unknowns to us. The first unknown wanted to charge us twice as much as what we ended up doing, so it's certainly worth asking around and getting quotes. 1A was the most unknown as it was the only one that came with no Yelp reviews and no feedback from others online. Turns out they are a new company and when Danny came out to quote us on the roof he was really friendly, answered all of our questions, and gave us a price we just couldn't beat. Before we settled the deal we had at least one more call with him and talked through even more questions that came up and felt assured they would do a great job on this project. It took them around 3.5 days to complete our roof and I will say it was a ton of work. Pulling wood shake off of a 3K sq. ft. home is not an easy feat, especially in early June humidity in KC. The crew got to work, and my husband and I got to know Roberto, who with Danny, are the two owners of 1A. Roberto is young, but an honest, kind, and talented roofer. He did a great job leading his team and getting us a solid and nice looking roof in a good amount of time. The thing that probably shocked me the most was just how quickly they were able to clean up and get our yard back to looking normal when they were done. I had an appointment for an estimate some time in November. My wife was about to head to work at the appointment time, the estimator ended up talking to my wife like she was an idiot, and he was making comments about how he did not know why he was even at the house. He had access to the property and all the areas I wanted checked out. He ended up leaving without starting the job. I later called to explain that the estimator did not do his job and how he treated my wife. Then, a few weeks later in December, a different person came to do the estimate. It is now February and I haven't received an estimate. I had two people out to my house, one treat my wife poorly, and both failed to send the estimate to me. He made the process of working with my insurance company very simple and was very familiar with the adjuster who was assigned. When it came time for the team to show up Luke was there to put up protective equipment around all of our garden essentials and the crew was very mindful of our belongings while constantly loading the roofing trash into the trash trailer. Even though the crew is Hispanic there was an English speaker who communicated the daily plans with me at all times of the project. I ordered a designer shingle which is less common, but the crew told me they have many years installing several dozen projects with the same shingle and have had plenty of experience with how to install it. When the project was completed they spent a considerable amount of time cleaning the yard to free it from nails and the smaller debris. I will be happy to recommend JR & Co to as many people as I can for as long as it is relevant.
