VIR has become one of my favorite tracks. Always a great time, amazing establishment and feels like a home, and the Suites/Rooms on pit lane are an absolute dream of an experience 10/10. Absolutely brilliant. I'll always look forward to coming back to VIR raceway. read more

Great track. Asphalt is mostly great. Lay out fantastic. Facilities within the compound are the envy of most others. Such a fine setting to play at speed. read more

An elite road course in the U.S. Great staff and always improving to provide better amenities and customer experiences. The IMSA Sports Car race that I attended was a wonderful weekend. Hope one day they can get more world-class spectator events. read more

I recently visited Virginia International Raceway for the very first time while I was traveling as part of the Pirelli World Challenge Series tour, so I wanted to post some feedback for others who are considering visiting the track! My photos from the track: http://motormavens.com/gt4-and-touring-cars-battle-at-pirelli-world-challenge-vir-virginia-international-raceway/ My video from the track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmAWOehSwdE THE LODGE If you plan to attend a multiple day event at VIR, I really really recommend staying at The Lodge (unless you're ballin... in which case you should book one of the Chalets. The Chalets are basically like a full townhouse with garage and carport, situated right next to the uphill esses. You can watch racing right outside your townhouse!) But back to The Lodge - it's a hotel sitting right on the racetrack premises. We stayed on the 3rd floor during the race weekend, and I definitely recommend that people consider booking a room here if they're attending a race at VIR! You can literally watch the race from the big chairs out on the hotel deck, right outside your room! So awesome. THE LODGE DOES NOT HAVE AN ELEVATOR though, so keep that in mind if you have big heavy bags full of camera equipment like I do. Getting my gear up and down the stairs every day for 4 days was DRAMA after a long day at the track. If we were on the 1st Floor, it wouldn't be an issue though. THE RACETRACK Situated right above the Virginia-North Carolina border, the lush greenery and rolling hills at VIR make this track stand out as one of the best looking racetracks in the United States. This place is gorgeous! You really NEED to visit if you can. GIFT SHOP Don't forget to stop by the VIR GIFT SHOP, operated by TMI products, the people who make the Ariel Atom. Most racetrack gift shops are lame, but VIR actually has a bunch of different cool stickers, shirts, hats, and other stuff to buy. You can actually get race stuff here too, like fluids, brake pads, helmets, racing seats, GoPro and ReplayXD cameras and accessories... super legit. read more

We went here to participate in there Holiday Laps for charity. This is a very well ran road coarse race track that hosts several events a year. Everyone we meet and talked to was super nice and everything went very smooth. The charity if the event was the Salvation Army and it was 25$ for a 4 lap session that lasted about 15 minutes but it was loads of fun for all. It looks like they raised about 35 thousand dollars last year at this event. There where a lot of cars there but they got us in and out quickly. If you have a chance to drive your car on a racetrack this would be the one. Just be warned that it's a very curvy track and you are on your own when you pull your car on the track. They do make you sign a waver when you come through the gate. read more

If I could only give this place 10 stars! If I'm not on a mountain snowboarding, there is no other place I'd rather be. VIR is the reason why I still have a car in Virginia and travel 3000 miles just to drive on this amazing 4.2 mile track. The track is so large, they are able to run it in 5 different configurations. VIR host some of the premier car and motorcycle races in the world, as well as driving schools sponsered by clubs like mazdadrivers, audi, mercedes, skip barber, nasa, car guys, etc. pics to come..... read more

As a race fan I have been driving here since 2002. I have seen the many changes it has gone through and can't help but to be so grateful that this is my home track. The facilities are well maintained, the runoff room rather "healthy" and best of all, it's fast and fun. I have visited many tracks across the country and can honestly say that this is definitely one of the top ones around. If you've been considering tracking your vehicle, go here first - you won't be disappointed. If there is anyone interested, I'd be happy to direct anyone (message me) on ways to get on track! :) read more

Just got back from 4-days driving on this track and I'm impressed. I stayed at The Lodge and will try for one of the garage rooms next time. The ability to stay on the facility makes all the difference in the world for those 7AM tech inspections! Had a good dinner at the Oak Tree Tavern. The service is a bit slow as they seem to get overwhelmed with the amount of people that show up during track events. Internet service is the room is FAST. I was able to upload videos from my runs easily at the end of each day. The track itself is a great combination of technical turns (climbing esses) and high speed straights. Go as fast as you dare but be careful. A couple of cars bit the dust during my event, not a pleasant sight and you're miles from civilization. Better have a tow vehicle and trailer if you're serious! read more

Racing Great place to kill a day watching races, camping, hanging out and just enjoying various motor sport related activities. VIR is home to three different track layouts and the best part is that everything pretty much accessible - you can get right down there at victory lane and walk among the cars and talk to the teams and drivers. Moderately priced concessions and and plenty of activities for the family outside of racing makes this a great weekend place to get away: there are places to stay beyond the camping: like the villas, and track side suites, which put you right up on the track for up close and personal viewing. Plenty of food choices scattered around and golf carts are available to rent so you can get around. Definitely worth a trip whether to watch a race, or to take your vehicle out for a run. Give it a try! read more

This racetrack has become a beautifully maintained facility from the track itself, which is newly paved, the Pro Shop, paddock area, lodging, dining and yes, there is a spa! They have truly transformed VIR into a racetrack resort, and it is gorgeous. The track itself is challenging- 3.24 miles of turns (the full track), majestic esses (that will jack you up at high speeds!), and just all around difficulty, even people who have some experience but who do not know VIR may have a learning curve when they first come out. This track has 5 different configurations. Everyone is very friendly and the atmosphere is great. Definitely one of the best ones in the Southeast/mid-atlantic area. read more

I went to VIR for my first time participating in a track event and it was phenomenal. Everything was clean and nice. We stayed in the upper villas. It was totally worth the extra money to have a full kitchen! Just spent the last several days here for the 2019 SCCA Runoffs and it was just a beautiful complex. If you have the opportunity to visit this raceway as a spectator or as a driver, do not miss it. The course is beautiful and challenging, the areas for spectating are plentiful and well placed. The facility is so well maintained and the people are super friendly. We had a wonderful time. read more

Believe it or not there are people who do exist out there that race something other than a dirt bike or an old crashed up car on a dirt track. And yes, some of us don't even like (yes I'm going to say it and I hope I don't make anyone upset) NASCAR! Wow I really said it! But there are a few who race MotoGp Bike and this track was a nice one. They have nice garages you can rent, Plus above the garages the have small apartment to rent. But if your a camper kind of person you can pay for electric hookup. read more

My uncle drives in vintage car races here...but I never visited until last year for the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series. I'm planning to go back this year for the entire weekend so I can catch all the action. It's fun to watch the cars and see the cars everyone else is driving (last year I saw 3 Lotus'). It's a beautiful course too. read more

What a great place, a country club for car people! With an outstanding track and on site facilities, like the villas, and track side suites and the lodge at VIR, as well as Connies Pub, once on property, you really don't have to leave! Great driving course, and super accomodations. This is a place that a car guy can bring his best girl and she will even enjoy herself! read more

This is an awesome place to see a race. Large, open, viewing areas and they hold a lot of events. I only wish there was more of a viewing area from the pit/start to see some of the great starts. I really enjoyed just about everything about this place. read more

This is one of my favorite places on the face of this earth. The uphill esses are an absolute blast and nothing more puckering than losing brakes going into T1. Attended the MotoAmerica Superbike Championship of Virginia today and was very impressed and how well kept & organized the place was. Out access was amazing as well! Made a very long trip from New England to meet friends here, and we loved it - we will be back next year! read more

A phenomenal track. Make sure you stay on the paddock if you have a chance- having a garage and lodging on the front straight is absolutely worth the extra few dollars. We've been coming up here for a few years now with BMW CCA, and I would recommend their HPDS to anyone who's interested, no BMW necessary! They're continually maintaining the track surfaces to ensure smooth and even pavement, and the elevation changes are great. A technical course that is recommended for any level of driver. read more

Have only been to VIR once, and absolutely loved it. We visited VIR as competitors in 2015, and camped in the paddock. The showers were extremely nice, my wife hates camping but actually enjoyed our time at VIR. VIR is best described as a country club for motorsports, and that's exactly what it is. Between Oak Tree Tavern and the Spa, there's plenty for my wife to do in between sessions on the track. The racing surface itself, very high quality and technical racetrack. Plenty of run off room, and one of the racetracks I feel the safest at, as a driver. Our next trip, we are staying in the Pit Road Suites and will provide an updated review. read more

Went to VIR on a Sunday to run go karts. When we arrived around 2:30. we saw dirt bikes using it. An ominous site when you've driving for an hour to get there. We inquired with the attendant who told us the dirt bikes would be using it until at least 5:00. We waited around for 30 minutes and asked again, hoping to get a different answer. No luck. So we drove an hour back home. 2 1/2 hours for nothing. Their web site says karting is open from 9am to 6pm Wed-Sun without any mention of the track being closed for private groups. If you scroll down on the kart page you see a calendar with several times with No Subject beside it (ie 1pm No Subject). Having been there I can only surmise that No Subject indicates a private group has rented the track for an hour but that isn't stated anywhere. I asked the attendant if we could check the web site in the future to check for private parties. He said we should just call. Long story short, VIR karting isn't really open from 9am-6pm Wed thru Sun. They are open Wed-Sun when the track isn't rented to a private party. Very irritating. read more
