We went here to participate in there Holiday Laps for charity. This is a very well ran road coarse race track that hosts several events a year. Everyone we meet and talked to was super nice and everything went very smooth. The charity if the event was the Salvation Army and it was 25$ for a 4 lap session that lasted about 15 minutes but it was loads of fun for all. It looks like they raised about 35 thousand dollars last year at this event. There where a lot of cars there but they got us in and out quickly. If you have a chance to drive your car on a racetrack this would be the one. Just be warned that it's a very curvy track and you are on your own when you pull your car on the track. They do make you sign a waver when you come through the gate.

If I could only give this place 10 stars! If I'm not on a mountain snowboarding, there is no other place I'd rather be. VIR is the reason why I still have a car in Virginia and travel 3000 miles just to drive on this amazing 4.2 mile track. The track is so large, they are able to run it in 5 different configurations. VIR host some of the premier car and motorcycle races in the world, as well as driving schools sponsered by clubs like mazdadrivers, audi, mercedes, skip barber, nasa, car guys, etc. pics to come.....

Cool place I was there just recently for a motorcycle race and had a great time with friends from NC.

Just got back from 4-days driving on this track and I'm impressed. I stayed at The Lodge and will try for one of the garage rooms next time. The ability to stay on the facility makes all the difference in the world for those 7AM tech inspections! Had a good dinner at the Oak Tree Tavern. The service is a bit slow as they seem to get overwhelmed with the amount of people that show up during track events. Internet service is the room is FAST. I was able to upload videos from my runs easily at the end of each day. The track itself is a great combination of technical turns (climbing esses) and high speed straights. Go as fast as you dare but be careful. A couple of cars bit the dust during my event, not a pleasant sight and you're miles from civilization. Better have a tow vehicle and trailer if you're serious!

I went to VIR for my first time participating in a track event and it was phenomenal. Everything was clean and nice. We stayed in the upper villas. It was totally worth the extra money to have a full kitchen! The view out of the upper villas is just indescribable and the sound is even better. ;) By the way, VIR is Virginia country gearhead decorating goals...

This racetrack has become a beautifully maintained facility from the track itself, which is newly paved, the Pro Shop, paddock area, lodging, dining and yes, there is a spa! They have truly transformed VIR into a racetrack resort, and it is gorgeous. The track itself is challenging- 3.24 miles of turns (the full track), majestic esses (that will jack you up at high speeds!), and just all around difficulty, even people who have some experience but who do not know VIR may have a learning curve when they first come out. This track has 5 different configurations. Everyone is very friendly and the atmosphere is great. Definitely one of the best ones in the Southeast/mid-atlantic area.

Believe it or not there are people who do exist out there that race something other than a dirt bike or an old crashed up car on a dirt track. And yes, some of us don't even like (yes I'm going to say it and I hope I don't make anyone upset) NASCAR! Wow I really said it! But there are a few who race MotoGp Bike and this track was a nice one. They have nice garages you can rent, Plus above the garages the have small apartment to rent. But if your a camper kind of person you can pay for electric hookup.

Make sure you stay on the paddock if you have a chance- having a garage and lodging on the front straight is absolutely worth the extra few dollars.

And the Berglund Performing Arts Theatre in the Center, with 2,150 seats, is one of my favorite places to go for entertainment in this City. Some might call it old, and some might call it small, but to me it's just perfect, since like wine, I feel its gotten better with time, and the community has gotten to know and appreciate it, as well as love it, because the performances played their have enriched their lives. This Holiday Season, as soon as the tickets to the Nutcracker went on sale, I made sure to purchase one ticket, for a front row center seat, to better appreciate the performance, since this year it's the 35th Anniversary of the Nutcracker being performed at the Berglund Center by the Southwest Virginia Ballet. This year it was being presented with a live orchestra, the Virginia's Blue Ridge Orchestra conducted by Dr. Wayne Gallops. And would have new choreography from the new Artistic Director, Laurence Blake. Sometimes when we talk about the Berglund Center, we don't realize that it is more than just the building structure, and we don't give enough credit to the employees and volunteer who play a great role in all of the performances there. They are one of the most welcoming, friendliest, and helpful group of individuals you can think of. This year I also got a VIP tour of the Center and since the day of this performance they were also having the parade downtown, I ended up receiving a personal tour and had the privilege of chatting on the stage with the founder of the Southwest Virginia Ballet as well as with the new Artistic Director of the Ballet. The Arts, in whatever form, is the soul of the people in the community. I highly recommend that you attend the performances here and give the Center and all those groups that perform here throughout the year, your total support. Because they enrich and bring joy to our lives, and by doing so, it gives meaning and a sense of satisfaction to theirs.

The bathroom was in another building. I had a ticket taker checking bags and he stopped me to ask if I had any guns or knives or weapons. He didn't ask anyone else. That was rude. Everyone else inside was super friendly.. the show was great. I managed to get a photo with JoKoy.. the only food are pretzels and popcorn. Eat and go before you come in. The seats themselves were comfy. They need to fix the bathroom situation and be better accessible for disabled patrons.

Yes, that was the team I played on, mind you, I had about 4 pretty tough guys playing with the two of us ladies that were on the team. I managed to "dodge, dip, duck, dive & dodge" the ball as the pre-training from the movie "Dodgeball" emphasizes. It was a fun time with a great group of people, if you're so brave as schedule yourselves in there and play dodgeball or anything in a team atmosphere, go for it, its an awesome place.

There's ample parking, a snack shack, and courts to the right and left. When I've attended, pretty much every court is in play -- soccer, hockey, and volleyball. You can register a team for a fee and they organize the match-ups for a season's worth of games (a few months). But be warned that some of their games can be scheduled as late as 11pm.

When I went to University in Virginia I did come out here once and thought, ooh, this is a big high school stadium. Which is really all it is, with 7,000 seats and not much happening here beyond High School football. First-Hand Experience: Info on my personal visit to this stadium - I don't tend to visit high school stadiums, but I had a friend that went to school here years ago, so I came to see her team play with her. Then very recently I came back just for the sake of memories. It hasn't changed a bit. It's a nice stadium, nothing too amazing. Pretty small. That's what she said. I've been to every cool stadium in the UK & North America, due to my obsession with travel & sport. I've toured America as a musician for 7 or 8 years. In that time, I've seen sports games at, or visited when empty (and usually both), at almost every major stadium in US and Canada. I have pictures of most which I will upload at some point. Also, on future travels, I plan to take new pix, and add more stadia! Watch this space! ***back to regular review*** It has turf and opened in 1985. The Virginia Swarm did play here but I've been swarm to secrecy about that and I've swarm not to even mention it. The Stagg Bowl is hosted here every year, so that's the claim to fame of the stadium. That's the championship game for NCAA Div III schools.
