They were very meticulous and detailed and true craftsmen. They listened to what I wanted and went above and beyond to deliver beautiful floors. No detail was overlooked. I was particularly impressed with how they sampled several stains side by side on the new floors so that I could see the color accurately in the actual setting before choosing. I also loved the way they gave me history lessons along the way to know what was under the tiles they removed and to see the original Douglas fir subfloor. They showed up on time and ready to work hard. They also cleaned up after each day's work so that there was as little disruption as possible. They were knowledgeable and intelligent in figuring out how to make things work in difficult areas and willingly made minor adjustments to stain and finish as requested along the way. I couldn't be more thankful for their kindness and for the quality of work they did. I have had so many compliments on what a huge difference this has made in my kitchen. It ended up being a very difficult and challenging project. Carolien (who has taken over the business from her mother, Cynthia) rose to each challenge and found a way to make things right. Once we moved in a few unexpected issues arose and Carolien was there to make it right. A large project like ours always has its challenges (we have gone through another major remodel 30 years ago in Phoenix), especially in an older home that is in need of care. It really matters to have someone with a great reputation who cares about the project and has great sub-contractors working for them. Extremely unhappy with the service here. We purchase Italian tile from this store several years…read moreago for a deck project. We then recently decided to use the same tile for an adjoining room. My wife brought in an extra 24x24 piece of the tile from the deck project and asked if we could order more. My wife told Roberto that we had purchased the tile several years ago and asked if he could identify it. After examining the tile, Roberto told my wife the tile was Tailormade Grigio, and that it was discontinued. He then (in front of my wife) called the vendor and determined that they still had some leftover stock on hand. We then had our contractor order the tile through Roberto. Our contractor was supposed to pick up the tile at Granite Center a couple weeks later, but every time he called, the tile was not in yet. Eventually, and as the delays were stalling our project, our contractor agreed to pay a $150 delivery fee to have Roberto's people fetch the tile from Roberto's vendor in Compton. The delivery was five hours late, and when it arrived, it was the wrong tile!! Wrong thickness and wrong color. I immediately called Roberto and he lamely said it was just a normal variation between lots. After I sent Roberto a picture, he admitted that we had received the wrong tile for our project. He told me that we should have ordered Tailormade Negro. However, Instead of apologizing for his error (mistakenly misidentifying the tile my wife had originally brought in), Roberto blamed my wife. He said that my wife had come in with a "sample board" for the Grigio and asked if he had more. When I told Roberto that we had no sample board, just a piece of unmarked tile, he said that she must have brought in "a picture of the sample board." (She did not.) Roberto told us that he would charge us a 25% restocking fee to correct the error and that we would have to pay another $150 delivery fee to have him deliver the correct tile. I eventually loaded the 400lbs of Grigio tile into my car trunk and (looking like a low rider) drove it to Compton, where Roberto's vendor very courteously made the exchange for the Negro with no "restocking fee" or any other charges. After making the exchange, I asked Roberto to refund the $150 delivery fee that he charged us for delivering the wrong tile- as I ended up doing the delivery. He refused, and instead once again blamed his error on my wife. Really a shameful way to run a business. Mistakes can happen, but when they do, you own up, apologize, and you make it right. You don't try to make additional money from the mistake, and you don't make up a story to blame your customer.

I think your experience can greatly vary depending on who assists you. We had someone assisting us that seemed to not want to deal with us at all. Several of the existing tiles on the floor were apparently no longer being made (so why still have them on the floor?), the store stopped doing custom tiles with specific colors (which sadly were the exact colors we were looking for). We finally ordered custom tiles, which cost a lot of money and took some time to deliver. We ended up not liking how they looked so we put them elsewhere on the property. The overall experience was so poor that even though Mission Tile West is *THE* place to go for stunning tiles for your special project, but try to pair up with recommended service people from other reviews here.

This was a custom Spanish tile that cost over $100 for a box, and there was 1 box that she procured for me within minutes of the vendors opening hour! I picked it up that afternoon for my installer to have the next day. It was absolutely magical and the most amazing experience I have ever had with anything on this project. Anyone that has lived through a renovation knows that things go wrong all the time, but this experience and Alexis' professionalism, accountability, and abilities are bar none the best! I recommend Mission Tile West and will always recommend them. They literally saved us from a major bathroom renovation nightmare.
