This is the best dental office I have ever been to. My friend recommended it after she had botched dental work elsewhere, and the office here has been helping her through the restore process. I have never found a nicer, more accommodating front desk. They also will do quotes for you with your insurance so you can figure out how much things will end up costing. Between the positive attitudes of the staff and the kind dentists and hygienists who make sure you feel comfortable, even someone who doesn't like going to the dentist like me actually looks forward to going now! Sadly, I was misdiagnosed by Dr. Lee, which led to a root canal being done on the wrong tooth and a lot of pain and suffering. I was referred to Dr. Lee by another dentist because I was in significant pain and my other dentist could not figure out why. My dentist told Dr. Lee he thought a lower molar which already had a root canal and crown, was likely the source of the pain. Dr. Lee did a redo root canal. However, it didn't help and I was still in pain. I also suffered from bloating and pain from the multiple rounds of antibiotics. At this point, I had gone to these dentists so many times that I gave up and managed my pain with opioids and pain relievers. A few months later, I was referred to another dentist by a trusted friend. At my first appointment, this dentist immediately identified the cause of my pain this whole time was a rotten wisdom tooth which was located above the one that got a redo root canal and was rotten and needed to be extracted. Dr. Lee failed to capture my rotten wisdom tooth in the x-rays and failed to identify it during examinations. This other dentist extracted my rotten wisdom tooth and I was immediately relieved of the pain I had been dealing with for so long. Dr. Lee focused too much on what the other dentist had told him and failed to do a more thorough evaluation of his own. He missed my rotten wisdom tooth on the x-rays and his evaluation and misdiagnosed the source of my pain, which led to me dealing with months of pain and suffering, having a root canal and dental work done on the wrong tooth, and antibiotics which led to painful side effects. read more

My family and I were referred to this practice. I have been going to them for several years. Every time we try to make an appointment there is always some sort of complication in terms of actually getting an appointment. They are always stating that they are full and there will be months before actually "getting in" for regular cleanings. Unless of course there is a cancellation from someone else. This usually results in a call that is made the day of the opening, asking if you can get in that morning which is usually impossible. Today I had a regularly scheduled cleaning in which I had forgotten my phone and had to run back to my car. This resulted in me being 13 minutes delayed. I walked in and started to fill in the form for my name. When I was then asked my last name by one of the receptionists. When she heard my name she immediately stated that she would have to check to find out if they could still see me. I told her that I understood and sat down. Several minutes later she walks out into the main area of their receptionist area and loudly says, we will not see you today because you are late. I replied that I understood. She spoke to me like a child that was being scolded. In a very loud voice. I proceeded to walk over to reschedule my appointment with her and she rudely states to me that they are still dealing with post-Covid appointments and that it would be months unless there is a cancellation. That seems farfetched but I proceeded in waiting for an appointment. She looked at her computer screen calendar and then announced to me again in a terse tone that it would be not until August 16th. At that point, I told her, no bother, that I will go and find another dentist. This has been repeatedly the narrative from this particular dental office's front staff for some time. If she thinks that she can humiliate and bully a patient to make herself feel better, I do not, nor does my family deserve that type of treatment from any sort of establishment. Ever! I do not write reviews, however, this was such an unpleasant experience, I felt that I should. No one deserves to be treated like this. When there are other dentists with a front office staff that would not treat a patient like this. I am a mother and forgetting my phone can be distressing, should someone need me. Great practice from A to Z. I've been going to Virginia Dental Solution, Reston location, since 2002 at least. The front desk staff is amazing . They are super organized and always a step ahead of me in planning my next cleaning visit for me and my kids. I tried most of the dentists at the practice. All of them are good. But no doubt Dr. Martinez is more than good. The dental care he provided raised the bar for everyone. And once you get a treatment with him, it is hard to consider any other provider for your next dental work. I was impressed with Dr. Martinez specialty and his ability to focus on the dental health while paying special attention to the esthetics. He cares to perfect the tiniest details that many dentist before him missed and didn't think much of. Also, all the hygienists are great. I have been going to Virginia dental solutions since I graduated college and the dentists are always very good. I have seen most of the dentists in this office for checks or fillings etc and they are all great in my opinion, so it doesn't matter who comes to see me or do procedures. Dr. Hall is the best. Been seeing him for years. His hygienist is wonderful. I pay out of pocket because my insurance sucks, but I don't feel this practice's main goal is money. I see other reviews disparaging the office staff, and I have nothing but great things to say about those wonderful ladies, not once have I had a bad experience. And when I come out of the office declared cavity free, they are genuinely happy for me. They always are warm and welcoming. I've seen other dentists, and they are all good, but Dr. Hall is my personal favorite. He's professional, on time, cracks some cheesy jokes to relieve my nervousness, and during the times my teeth have needed work, he treats me with kindness, patience, and understanding. read more

I've been going to Virginia Dental Solutions on a regular basis for the past ~20 years. In the past 2-3 years for cleanings, I have been seeing Molly in the Ashburn office. From the moment she greets you with a smile for your appointment-- to the gentle cleaning and finalizing the next 6-month appointment, she is very friendly and efficient! As one can imagine over the past two decades, I've seen nearly all of the dentists at one point or another. Recently, when I needed to have some work done and adjustments made, Dr. Svechota was excellent. He takes a non-invasive approach whenever possible and is consistently very friendly and positive. Having retired from the military, where dental care was readily available and provided, being able to select my own dentist under my employer's plan, was both a new and anxious filled experience. It didn't help my anxiety any that the last two dentist offices I had picked were total flops. But I guess, like the old adage goes, the third time is a charm; and that is what VA Dental Solutions is. My wife and I went for our first visit together and we both walked out of the Ashburn location VERY pleased. The staff was friendly and very professional. If you are interested in a dental office more concerned about money than the goodwill of its patients, feel free to choose this practice. When I had gone there, I had always considered the dental care to be adequate - not outstanding, not very personable, but fine. They were in the habit of performing a service, submitting it to insurance and then whatever insurance wouldn't pay, they would bill you for it months later. No big deal. Well, it became a big deal when I had a procedure done a couple of months before moving out of the area. At the time, I didn't know the exact address I'd be moving to, just the city, so had I had no forwarding address. Their office (this was Dr. Novick) apparently heard back from the insurance provider, sent the bill to my previous address and had the bill returned to sender from the post office. Rather than use my emergency contact information and send a polite letter to this contact to inquire about my current address and send me the bill (it was maybe a hundred bucks), they decided to send it straight to court where a judgement was made against me, a court cost of several hundred dollars tacked onto it, and a fat mark put on my credit score and then sent to a collection agency who couldn't find me. I didn't even know this was going on. I always paid my bills on time for everything, had perfect credit and then this happened. It was only a few years later, as I'm trying to get a car loan, I discover this huge ding on my record from this dental office who... apparently considers it unethical to send a letter to an emergency contact to ask for my new address but has zero problem destroying somebody's credit. You do not want to get involved with these people. You have options in Northern Virginia for good dentists other than this office. I advise you take the other options. read more

I already reviewed once before but here we go again. This place deserves all the credit and as a yelper myself, I want more people to find this place. I have been a long term patient here ( over 3 years). Going to dentist is not something you feel excited about but I don't need to drag my feet here. All my routine cleaning needs are met by Dana. She is super sweet, caring and remembers all my problem if there's any. Doctors here are also easy to talk to and don't try to rip you off for anything extra. It is behind the metro station and has enough parking. Appointment is a little tricky cause people usually make appointment 6 months ahead . But hey you can tell it's a popular spot due to its service. I highly recommend! read more

I've been with them since I moved to Virginia. I meet the same people all the time and their always consistent with the procedure. They are also very honest with you about your oral health and they don't rip you off by scaring you to get surgery, something many doctors and dentists are notorious for. They also give you good advice on how to take care of your teeth and gums and will recommend specific toothbrushes and mouth wash to help you take care of yourself. read more

Since 2005, my wife and I have been coming to VA Dental Solutions for bi-annual cleanings, occasional fillings, restorative work and whitening (Zoom). I've personally been seen by Drs. Hartz, Martinez, Bhide, and Kendra and they're all fine dentists. Terri is an incredible hygienist. She is the only hygienist able to workaround my very sensitive teeth and with and without braces and make it a very comfortable 45 minutes. The Drs. have seen us through braces and my jaw surgery and now that our kids are getting older they see them as well. The office space is new, modern, well-equipped and comfortable and the office staff are courteous and friendly. VA Dental Solutions has strategic partnerships in place with Apt Orthodontics and Fairfax Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The coordination of care is excellent as nothing falls through the cracks. Apt Orthodontics has put braces on me, my wife, my son and coming up next is my 10 year old daughter. Dr Peter Smith, now retired from Fairfax Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, performed a mandibular extension (lower jaw) and being that I was in braces at the time, all three groups were involved in my care. I want to recognize Dr. Martinez for going above and beyond the call of duty to attend to my son in an emergency, after hours situation. Just a couple of nights ago my 14 year old son had four of his his front teeth knocked out/knocked around in a HS basketball game. Since he's in braces we got a hold of Dr Apt and an hour after leaving the HS gym, we walked into Apt Orthodontics (again the importance of partnership) and there was Dr Apt and Dr Martinez waiting for us. They immediately went to work on my Son and then briefed/coordinated the oral surgeon and ensured that my Son would be seen the following day (day before Thanksgiving). The Oral Surgeon concluded that their "stat" work likely saved three out of the four teeth and gave the fourth tooth a fighting chance. As a parent I find it hard to express my gratitude and I can't say enough about Dr. Martinez and VA Dental Solutions. I highly recommend them. read more

The reception area was efficient and friendly. Billing with my insurance was a snap. Unfortunately, my two daughters had opposite experiences with the dental hygienists. My 4 year old had a very positive experience and can't wait to go back to the dentist. My 7 year old was about to cry and never wants to go back to the dentist after being berated by her hygienist several times. We didn't see either dentist for more than 2 mins, but after talking to several parents this seems to be the norm. Not sure yet, if we are going back even though they have Sat. hours. read more

I have mixed feelings about this business, but let me state first Dr. Brian Lee is OUTSTANDING, and my rating is in NO way reflective of him or his work. He has a very gentle hand when it comes to applying novocaine, and one time he even reimbursed me for a shirt that got a small bleach stain on it while I was working. I will rate him separately on his own office, which is in Chantilly. My initial experience with this dental office was positive; I went there for several years, starting I believe in 2013. My problem began when I was told I needed a root canal. I had the root canal but the office failed to tell me that I was also going to need a crown, but a) I wasn't told that until after the fact, and that b) the expense after what the insurance was to pay was somewhere in the neighborhood of $1000. I told them that I couldn't afford that, and it would take me many months to save up enough for that. I had a temporary, which broke. Dr. Hartz, to his credit, did apply a $300 credit to my balance, bringing it down to about $600, which I agreed I could pay over time (the number of months between the installments was never discussed). A couple of months later, they sent me a letter telling me not to come back. I paid off the bill and found another dentist. read more

I'm very happy to recommend Va Dental Solutions. I'm particular about my dentists (who isn't) and am very comfortable with the level of professionalism and quality of service I have received here. I saw Dr. Hall, who suggested that I could replace a very old filling with a new tooth-colored filling. I was unsure because for years other dentists have been telling me that filling needed to be replaced with a crown. I decided to trust his recommendation and happily, everything went perfectly and instead of a $$$ crown, I have a healthy new filling. My family has been going here for 20+ years. I recently had a bad experience with another dentist, so I came to see Dr.Kendra Novick. She was honest and gave me a solid second opinion. Her approach is reasonable and I'm very confident in her ability. They have late hours (open until 9pm) and weekends -- so it's convenient to not have to miss work to make an appointment. I've been afraid of dentists and have had experiences with overly aggressive preventative care -- but Dr.Novick is about her patients not her bottomline. Highly recommended. read more

If I could give them a negative rating - I would. My wife made appointments for my 3 kids and after the service they said they did not participate with our dental insurance and we had to pay cash. I'm saying - after x-rays, cleaning, and sealants for three kids. NO discounted solutions were offered and they actually filed papers with the courthouse for payment when I refused to pay (wanted to negotiate a discounted rate cause that's what the insurance companies do). They would rather hire a legal team to take 40% of the collectable than discount the patient 40%. ANYBODY can clean teeth, x-ray, and take care of your children's dental maintenance & needs so look somewhere else for an honest practice that doesn't schedule you without regard for your insurance until after they service you. All their smiles on their website must be from them laughing all the way to the bank. I certainly give them a negative review for their business and customer relations practices. If this sounds like a rant, it is because charging over $894 for three kids is ridiculous especially when you had already explained you are living paycheck to paycheck and the $894 was going to lump on a tremendous hardship. read more

I've been a patient here for almost 6 years. While I do adore Dr. Sharma the reception and billing staff are incredibly rude. I try to avoid speaking with them unless I have to, but today was the last straw. I called about a bill I received that was drastically higher than the pre-service estimate. I was transferred to Linda in Billing, who rudely told me that the office was out of network and that's why I was billed so high. This was after telling me "Well you must have good insurance; your insurance covered a lot." I know for a fact that I called at the beginning of the year to ensure that my new insurance was accepted and in network. Who has ever known of insurance being so good with out of network providers? That's the whole point of going to in network vs out of network doctors!! She continued with, "Maybe you should know your benefits. I mean, we don't know your benefits; that's your responsibility." I had to get off the phone because I was dangerously close to saying some 4 letter words not appropriate for this conversation. If I could rate the doctors separately, I'd give them 4-5 stars but the staff is so rude they negate any positive qualities. read more

We switched to this dentist office several years ago and have had nothing but good experiences so far. The staff is usually very friendly and the billing is MOSTLY correct. There was one bill where we were over charged, which we noticed, otherwise we would have given 5 stars. The hygienists are always very thorough and courteous. We recently started bringing our children too for their dental appointments. The kids have had very little work down on their teeth and have had no issues with going back regularly. Check with the billing department to see what insurances offer the best coverage otherwise I'm sure it could get expensive. read more
