Open from sunrise to sunset, the park features a lighted basketball court, two lighted tennis courts, a large picnic shelter that has grills and a water fountain, a quarter-mile walking track and a playground. The playground is quite large and is on a sand base. Swing set, climbing frame, monkey bars. All the stuff you need for your toddlers to burn off some energy. There is street parking. This is great for those of us on a budget. The pro is very friendly and they over many clinics during the week. They have both ladies' and mens' nights round robin play. The pro shop inside sells drinks and racquets, balls, mostly basic things. It's not like some of the private clubs that have tons on merchandise. The pro shop is elevated in the middle of all the courts, and has a large wrap around porch. It's nice to be able to see what's going on from that vantage point. As a tennis player I don't love some of the courts that back up to Wrightsboro Rd. The traffic is noisy, and makes it hard to hear scores and other calls. Daniel Field is across the street as well, and occasionally you get a plane landing or taking off during match play. I've found that every tennis facility has its own noise issues. You get past it and keep playing. A couple local high schools have matches here as well as the local college. Newman hosts lots of tournaments so if you are just looking to see some great tennis you maybe in luck.

The boat ramp can get pretty busy on the weekends but there is a nice loop you can do that let's put into the river and then back. There is a rope swing at one point of you don't mind getting in the murky water. It is a peaceful kayak route.

I am quite frustrated with my experience with the tennis pro. I was playing a USTA tennis match…read morethis morning out on the courts. The pro comes up and disrupts our match (in the middle of play) asking questions as to why we were out there, how we knew the code, etc. We continued to play and he and his players walked behind us to the court right next to us feeding balls, they were flying everywhere. I returned a ball back to him and he started talking to me like I was a dog, threatening to kick me off the court. My opponent and I came to the decision to suspend this match as he was a MAJOR distraction I was so frazzled I couldn't continue to play. As we were leaving, he comes up and continues to be one of the most disrespectful men I have ever encountered. I will not tolerate a man speaking to me in that manner and will never ever step foot back at Fermata. I could not believe the disrespect and complete rude person. He even went as far to insult my mother. I have played tennis for a long time and quite literally have never experienced this type of unprofessional, incredibly disrespectful, and hateful behavior. He should be truly ashamed of himself.

Great place to run in Aiken! During my most recent visit to Aiken, I was looking for a place to…read morerun. We found the track at Odell Weeks Activity Center, and I was very pleased. It is a 1 mile track around, and they have markers every quarter of a mile. This made for the perfect place to enjoy a quick run! Now, I can't speak for the inside of the activity center, but the outdoor public facilities are really great. The track is well maintained, and I liked that there were emergency call boxes on the track, although I felt that the area was pretty safe. They have a section of the park with some outdoor lifting equipment and there are tennis courts on the backside of the park, which are totally free to use. I really enjoyed running here. We did a quick 2 mile run on a Saturday morning, and there were a few other people, but it wasn't overly crowded. I enjoyed the scenery, and there was plenty of parking. I would definitely recommend!

Several ellipticals; lots of bikes, one stairmaster, and some rowers in basement. They got some new weight machines and a small selection of dumbbells that go up to 50 lb. So no lunks here. The indoor track is big plus too, but the Greeneway is right there so why not just run outside? Also several basketball courts, racquetball, and activity rooms. Even craft room. But just $50/year. Can't beat that :)
