One of North Augusta's hidden gems. It's been under our noses for years! Right beside SRP Park, this pond has bat boxes, solar panels, man made waterfalls, snake birds, and alligators. But one of the best things is that you can fish out here!

Dont drop people off at this entrance.

This is such a pretty place in North Augusta. This place has great scenery and well groomed gravel trails with lots of shade. A perfect place to walk. Watch out for alligators.

That was as close I was getting to it. But the pond was beautiful.

It is seldom that on your first visit to a location with an alligator warning sign you actually see a alligator. But such was the case as I took a walk around Brick Pond Park. Let me rewind and make sure you know where this is. If you know where the Greenway in North Augusta is located or SRP Park then you are there. If you prefer, you can park by the Bark Park and walk through a short tunnel to get there. Walking into this space is surprisingly relaxation (again, in relation to how close you are to everything). The pathways, benches to sit on, a turtle sunbathing on a tree trunk. If you are a writer and/or photographer, this is a perfect place to spend a few hours. But now back to the alligator. It was nearing sunset and the yellow signs whispered at me with the "Alligators MAY be present". But then I saw it. Just along the edge of the pond, on the land with a few toes touching the water, it laid there. I don't know if it was sleeping or waiting for someone/something to get close enough for it to attack, but one picture was more than enough. I was out! That said, I will return soon and hopefully will do so in the morning. I would love to see the sun across the land/waterscape. Stop by and check it out soon!

Stumbled across Brock Pond thanks to Yelp! when looking for something "nature" based to do while in Augusta, GA. I love wildlife and this was so great for that. Being from the northeast it was quite a pleasant surprise to see alligators just sunbathing along with all the other wildlife. I've posted some photos of the Blue Heron and Anhinga that were just propped out right along the walking paths. It's a short, easy walk but very pretty and interesting. We returned for a second visit prior to our vacation ending and both times were equally as interesting. If looking for a nice, non-strenuous outside activity to do, this place is perfect!

This place is a lovely spot in the middle of town! Great for a stroll or run or taking pictures, the wildlife is so interesting! I'd definitely recommend stopping by and enjoying an afternoon.

While my family was in…read moretown bike riding the Greenway in South Carolina we decided to cross state lines and ride in Georgia a little bit. That's when we stumbled upon the Riverwalk. It's a fully brick walkway along the Savannah. My family enjoyed our time here while we took a break from bike riding. Along the path there are numerous picnic tables that offer spectacular views of the river, but the path does not offer a lot of shade. However there is an amphitheater that has a canopy with a couple of benches, if you are looking to get out of the sun. Although my family had a good time at the Riverwalk there is some maintenance that needs to be done. The trellises that are in front of the amphitheater were withered; there was noticeable deterioration of the wood and visible rotting of the wood. Even though the riverwalk path needs some maintenance, I had a wonderful time enjoying nature and relaxing near the Savannah River. I would definitely recommend going to the Riverwalk in Augusta Georgia, if you want to get some fresh air while enjoying the scenery and the sounds of nature.

I assume it's about 3 miles as you can walk at the top level or the bottom level. What was really nice was that along the journey was the water where you you saw the different level measures of flooding in the area that occurred like in 1908, 1928, 1990 and other eras. There were beautifully crafted artwork either bought or on loan to the city of Augusta. Also there were a lot of historical plaques of which one was a paper mill in the area at one time but I'm not sure of the actual location. There was a photo of Moody 1946 which was interesting. I was really sad to see so many fallen beautiful trees which showed how the ecosystem is changing and impacting Mother Earth. I would definitely be going back to this place again.

Granted I moved right as the first lockdown occurred and society was cautious concerning human interaction, but I should have taken advantage of this resource sooner. I will start by clarifying that the community center attached to the Park has not been open since at least 2020. I was told by one commissioner that it is unable to be reopened until structural repairs are made to the building. This, much to the dismay of my neighborhood, includes the adjoining swimming pool. But hopefully that will all be taken care of soon. Also, the children's area is not particularly where I find myself enjoying time here. Instead, the baseball field, walking track, and basketball court are where I have recently found respite. The baseball field is mostly grass at this point so it serves as a almost completely secure space for my three dogs to run around. I know that's not the original purpose, but for now that is how I use it. The walking track is not quite a quarter mile, but close enough that 5 laps will get you there. I am sure parents/guardians appreciate that it encompasses the playground so they can watch their children play while getting in some exercise. I prefer mornings if I am putting in a few laps, due to the quiet and the lower temperature. The basketball court is technically four, all parallel. This provides an adequate number of hoops for those who want a full game and those who just want to work on their free throw. As for me, it serves as a spot to work on my three pointer (ugly, but effective). I have yet to use the pavilion, which is covered and has two grills with tables and benches, but the next time I plan a larger gathering of friends that will be the spot. Parking is ample and the Parks & Rec Department does a great job keeping the area clean and mowed. Also, it is only three blocks from downtown! So if you are ever in the area, stop by and unwind. That's what it's for.
