A friend of mine suggested this place to go for a stroll and look at the beauty around us. My mother has to be in a wheelchair and she doesn't go outside much and if I mention a garden of any type, she lights up. The only negative thing I have to say is that it was difficult pushing a wheelchair through some places. It has been a couple of months ago, I've just forgotten to leave my review. But it was Labor Day and we got there and left just before it started raining. It was beautiful out and the scenery was absolutely gorgeous. We saw some huge Koi fish and a bunch of turtles. Thankfully my friend who suggested this place came along and she shared her knowledge on most of the plants and trees. She also knows about Quarter Horses too which made me feel like she was our tour guide. We plan to come back next Spring. There was no charge for entry and parking was free.

I came here while on vacation in Aiken and I was so worth the stop. It is very close to downtown and worth walking over. The grounds are stunning and there is a lot of shade that comes in handy on hot summer days. This is a must see if you are in the area.

One of my favorite places in Aiken to relax and do a bit of reading, meditating, slow walking while tree bathing. You can bring a a blanket, your dog, and friends to take a break from the day. Several musical and children's events happen throughout the year. Definitely check it out!

Wow, the Hopelands Gardens are absolutely beautiful! I decided to do some wandering around Aiken, SC this weekend, and it didn't disappoint. Aiken is a welcoming small southern hospitality city! They were crowned the #1 small town in Southern Living Magazine, south awards in 2018! A 14 acre estate turned into a public garden, century old oaks, horticultural labyrinth, a few ponds with fountains, and a theater that the US Marine Corps uses yearly. I will have to go back for the Christmas Lights in the winter! They were not overcrowded and the trails were paved for the most part. User friendly for all, and especially for children! Lots of space to roam and not be in contact with others. They do have a few small gardens houses that were closed. All kinds of flowers were in bloom all over the gardens. The Horse Race Hall Of Fame museum is located toward the back, so don't miss this free museum. The bathroom is also located in the same area. This lovely free green space is free to all! Face mask are required inside the bldgs. I really enjoyed my time here yesterday! Enjoy!

A nice place tucked away in Aiken, SC. I unfortunately came at the end of the season. I can imagine how vibrant this place must be in Spring. Even though, I saw some lovely flowers as well as water. This is a nice spot for photography and a calm date. It is also nice to take a healthy walk. There is something relaxing about being in nature. Go out and smell the green Earth!

This was one of the first places my wife I visited when we came to Aiken. We visited during the Christmas season to see the lights - beautiful! They even offered a shuttle the made parking a breeze. Hot cider and cookies made the experience all the more memorable. We've visited a couple of times since moving to Aiken and every visit has been wonderful.

Redcliffe is one of the hidden gems of the CSRA. There are so many different things to enjoy here,…read moreand everyone can find something they love and a reason to keep coming back. There's a museum, house and grounds tour, natural trails, big fields for kids to run around in, and beautiful gardens to enjoy. The house tour was great and our guide was extremely knowledge. They did a fantastic job of striking a good line between not white washing history but also not painting all historical figures as purely evil people - that's a hard balance to achieve but they did it. The house is really a spectacular architectural achievement and you should absolutely do a tour if you come here. The library alone is worth the entry fee. There's also several original outbuildings which are even more unique since many of those are not preserved on other plantations. The nature trails and grounds are also great to just walk around in. Our kid had a great time running around, and we saw several birds of prey and even an owl!

It makes me sad that I had time only for a brief stopover. One has to drive down a dirt road to get…read moreto this, but it seemed quite worthwhile. A visitor center was open, though it was surrounded by what the park ranger called "garden spiders", which are not aggressive towards humans and whose bite, if provoked, is painful but not deadly. I've seen Australia-level spiders and lived to tell the tale, but these were definitely no joke; arachnophobes beware. The site includes a mansion, a cactus garden for some reason, and a variety of other buildings. Notably, the slave quarters housed extensive exhibitions. I'm not sure if this park was always so given the way history is treated in some parts of the south, but at least now it has a thorough historical take. I did not have time for the tour, but one can reasonably hope that whatever tour guide you get it will be worthwhile.
