This is a small dog park, and a little out of my way. But my dogs do seem to enjoy their visits. their are nice paved walking trails, and plenty of shade for the hot days. The dog areas are fenced off in sections for dog sizes and each has water and little obstacles for the dogs to play on. Mine were having nothing to do with the obstacles, but they were having fun just walking around sniffing everything. I'm not sure what all the video surveillance cameras were all about, but their seemed to be quite a few mounted up high. Might be a shady area after dark, who knows.

    Large dog side.

I love it here. Plenty of shade to sit in and plenty of room for the dogs to run around and play. Everyone I've met here is really nice.

But it's a great park to picnic at along the water or take a walk around the lake. I've ran a couple 5k's here and they were fun as well. The is also the Julian bbq pitt which is an "hut" like building available for events. I'm most often here because it's a gateway to the Augusta canal trail. Just a short hike to aqueducts or you can take bike ride all the way to Savannah River rapids. You can also kayak and enjoy the lake too. So plenty to do to enjoy the outdoors here :)

This is an awesome…read morefacility--gives you a simple, old-school ball park feel without the "extra" that so many state-of-the art facilities have today. The food was cheap, and everything was right beneath the stands (food, restrooms, etc.) Great location next to Lake Olmstead and the trail head which is located behind the stadium. NEGATIVES: 1. Parking is ATROCIOUS. There is very minimal free parking. The lots are made of dirt and gravel, no defined parking spaces. It's quite common to get parked in and be unable to leave until the others nearby come to get their vehicles. Frustrating is an understatement! Some people would walk all the way from parking off Broad Street. 2. Neighborhood not the best, not the worst. Safety at night is definitely more of a concern. 3. Ticket line is always lengthy. The stands can get crowded and there is little room to move around comfortably if you need to stretch your legs. Otherwise, this is a fun facility. I miss it often, even when at current Green Jackets games across the River. I hope it stays around and gets good use!

If you are not an Intermediate skilled rider I would highly advise look before you leap. Literally!!! At this entrance, past the sign about 10 meters is a triple stairstep like hill going down which converges to a singletrack line in the woods then a sharp curve to the left. You can go with speed to the next obstacle or choose a very technical line because it opens up to a massive rock garden under a bridge followed by mini grand canyon of wash outs in the dirt before converging back to a single track. Note!! pay attention to the directions of the day (Clockwise or Counterclockwise). There are many little feeder paths running parallel to the railroad so stay on the path well worn (no pun intended). About .4 miles from the Canal Singletrack South Trailhead there is a storm water waste project currently being worked on. Do not make my mistake and follow the hay and dirt on the right side on the pond, it is not a trail!!! Stay to the left of the pond closest to Riverwatch Parkway and it will open up to the stormwater project area, but look for a well worn dirt hill and that will be your connection back to the trail. Had a wonderful cool ride in the forest, but lesson learned for the day was set your rebound and compression after your initial loop for a better ride.

I wish the park system would add-on a playground or a contained dog park area...that would be a wonderful addition to this system. Sometimes, like people, it is the places right in front of us that we often overlook. For me, it…read morewas a city park just two blocks away. Granted I moved right as the first lockdown occurred and society was cautious concerning human interaction, but I should have taken advantage of this resource sooner. I will start by clarifying that the community center attached to the Park has not been open since at least 2020. I was told by one commissioner that it is unable to be reopened until structural repairs are made to the building. This, much to the dismay of my neighborhood, includes the adjoining swimming pool. But hopefully that will all be taken care of soon. Also, the children's area is not particularly where I find myself enjoying time here. Instead, the baseball field, walking track, and basketball court are where I have recently found respite. The baseball field is mostly grass at this point so it serves as a almost completely secure space for my three dogs to run around. I know that's not the original purpose, but for now that is how I use it. The walking track is not quite a quarter mile, but close enough that 5 laps will get you there. I am sure parents/guardians appreciate that it encompasses the playground so they can watch their children play while getting in some exercise. I prefer mornings if I am putting in a few laps, due to the quiet and the lower temperature. The basketball court is technically four, all parallel. This provides an adequate number of hoops for those who want a full game and those who just want to work on their free throw. As for me, it serves as a spot to work on my three pointer (ugly, but effective). I have yet to use the pavilion, which is covered and has two grills with tables and benches, but the next time I plan a larger gathering of friends that will be the spot. Parking is ample and the Parks & Rec Department does a great job keeping the area clean and mowed. Also, it is only three blocks from downtown! So if you are ever in the area, stop by and unwind. That's what it's for.
