I mean, it happens at every clinic. Overall, I find that the staff at this location are much more laid-back than the ones at Mililani. Definitely a comfortable country vibe. I find that wait times here are much shorter too. A caveat is that an online patient system is nonexistent (okay, I mean it is, but they don't promote it), and appointments can only be made over the phone. I'm hoping that should change when they start implementing their new electronic health system in July 2019.

Located on the third level of the Mary Savio Medical Plaza, Dr. Harada's Office was clean, bright, and decorated with sakura (cherry blossom) stickers! The staff were efficient and professional! The doctor was very helpful and intuitive! He went over the medications, treatments, and suggested practical things for aunty to do... plus, he sent her to the lab for bloodwork. There is a code to get into the building, which they give you, and the waiting area is a good space nice cool and quiet. They offer services like facials, hair removal, etc. but they also are an internal medicine practice so you can come for normal PCP stuff. It's pretty great. The wait is quick, the front desk is friendly and the office is clean. So far it's been great with this clinic and I'm glad we found it.

Doctors like that are hard to come by nowadays. In fact, I decided to leave my last PCP when she stated her preference for two patient visits per year and the use of urgent care and the ER. She was candid about HMSA's reimbursement switch to a capitation plan as the basis for her preference. I empathize as I think this new payment system is detrimental for the patient too. So that wasn't going to work for me so I found paying the MDVIP fee a good investment. Dr Okimura has in-depth knowledge of my health issues and she is sincerely invested in finding solutions and helping me to be the best me. She is incredibly empathetic, timely responses to calls and emails and comes with well rounded knowledge. I really appreciate that she respects that I know my body and always takes my input into consideration. I highly recommend Dr Okimura!
