Eventually the carpet was ordered and the carpet was installed. We never received a call on the day of installation as to the approximate time of arrival. After the installation I noticed carpet debris in the outside front of the house and porch that took me 25 minutes to pick up.

We moved furniture upstairs, cleared the rooms, got everything ready the week of the scheduled install which we had been charged a deposit on. Two days before the scheduled install date, we get a text message informing us that our flooring was not available. The flooring we had been charged a deposit on and that was supposed to be scheduled less than 48 hours later was suddenly not available. There had been no communication that the flooring we were charged for was not available. There had been no previous communication that the work we had done to get the house prepared and were living with furniture rearranged and everything ready for the installation 48 hours later. Then we get a text message informing us that the flooring we'd been charged for was not available and we had to select another flooring. Less than 48 hours before install, we were told via text we would have to select a different flooring with time to drive in and view the options, no time to review financing and the pricing that would be changed. Less than 48 hours before the install day that we had taken off of work to be able to help manage the dogs while the install happened and we were informed our flooring we had paid for was not available. Completely, patently unprofessional. We paid a deposit for flooring that was not reserved for us. We took time off of work to rearrange furniture and prepare the house for an install that was cancelled BY EMPIRE less than 48 hours. Less than 48 hours to come and pick a replacement flooring that we had already decided on, with no time to come and view options. Less than 48 hours to push a more expensive or a different option for flooring on us. Atrocious customer service. False advertising in taking a deposit for flooring that was reserved for us which it turns out is not. No attempt to discuss replacements. No options provided at cost. Nothing. Just told that we needed to pick a new one, two days before, because the flooring we reserved was not reserved. Yet, our deposit was already charged and already generating interest for flooring.

On the day of installation, only one contractor arrives at 10am and quotes that he will complete the work alone by 5pm. With only one laborer working 7hrs, the estimated labor rate was near $200-250/hr, though the sales rep was disrespectful over the phone and would not provide further details to itemize the bill. Rite Rug cares more about their margins than their customers. I should have negotiated pricing further but assumed they were negotiating in good faith. Learned my lesson. I just hope other consumers read this review and learn from my mistake.

I did have another expert in the house for something else and (though I didn't ask and he wasn't looking for work) he said there should have been one more coat of urethane brushed on by hand to really finish the job. Jacob SAID there were 3 coats applied, but because I wasn't allowed into the house while they were working, I have no way to check this. The problem arose when I wasn't offered a receipt upon paying for the work. I asked over and over, by email, phone and text, but It took 5 weeks and my final loss of patience to get a very poor email image of the receipt. I would probably not do business with this company again because of this.
