We were 3.5 hours away from home visiting some family when we got a screw in our tire. We changed it to the spare but knew we couldn't drive all the way home on it. It was a Sunday and many places were either closed or had no availability, and with two young kids we needed to get home as soon as we could. My sister had 4 new tires put on Saturday morning. It took them a long time to complete the job. My sister drove to work after having a long holiday weekend off. As she drove to work her front tire AND wheel flew off hitting another car going the opposite direction. Causing a huge accident. Now, my sister has to get her car fixed again.... We were in town visiting family when various check engine lights went on and the car started running roughly. It was a Saturday and VIP was the only repair shop that had a mechanic on duty (this after checking a bunch of other places in Bath to no avail). It was about 10:30am and of course they were booked for the day with only one mechanic on duty but said we could leave it and they'd try to take a look. Richard, the store manager, said they might not get to it until Sunday or Monday. We were scheduled to leave Sunday morning and let them know but their Sunday was also booked up. We left with our fingers crossed as we had to be back home Sunday night for work on Monday in the Boston area. We checked back mid afternoon but they hadn't been able to look it over yet and then checked back around 5 (we'd been told the mechanic was scheduled to go off duty around 4). We got there and the car was in the garage with Richard and Ivan the mechanic talking. They figured out the problem and repaired it! We were able to get the car Saturday and leave on time Sunday. We talked more with Ivan and Richard and they were so helpful, explaining what was wrong and answering questions (and showing us the bad spark plug). They really saved us by squeezing us in and we have only good things to say about the team at this location! read more

They failed me for rear struts (not leaking), a non-existent valve cover oil leak and also apparently my radio antenna wasn't 'properly attached' and it's Not even an item on the inspection checklist...? I can't say enough how professional and knowable the manager and the technician were. My appointment was honored exactly when they scheduled it. The technician, Ivan, let me know they do a free wheel alignment evaluation and he did it on the spot in less than 15 minutes! Minor issues that i will come back and address. I took my car here to get an oil change. I don't trust anyone handling my car, and here's why! I noticed when walking to my car after having them finish the oil change my hood was off a little, I opened it and the stick to hold up my hood was completely bent! How does this even happen? Inside the car they left the gross mat in my car where their feet would go, and the steering wheel had oil residue on it. Like wtf people, this is someone's car! I take very good care of my car, keep it very clean and vacuumed for a reason! I will not be returning to this place. read more

So I went to O'rileys because online it says they can change a headlight for FREE, look it up if you say that's bs, but I went there and the guy at the counter was extremely rude, said it's a wiring issue and I'd need at least 2 hours of work put into it... at $130 an hour labor?? No thank you! I had the lights already, I just wanted it put in, I said BOTH lights, they make me wait a half hour to put it in, which is fine but they only put ONE in, then said oh itll be another half hour to get that in, I demanded not to charge me extra for their mistake, which luckily they didnt. The guy at VIP said the same thing to me, needed wiring fixed or the light wont work properly... I then on my car after it's all done and it worked awesome, it was bullshit they said I needed more work done just to suck money out of me despite saying I cant spend more than 100 that day. They take advantage of women thinking they dont know their shit, fuck you VIP I'm never coming back! I would have just done it myself but it looked like a pain and I didnt know how. read more

Do not trust this vip. The over $600 worth of work they claimed I needed for a sticker was totally false. Muffler? A different garage fixed it by tightening the flange screws. Wiper needed replacing? Had the receipt from two weeks earlier. Bulb replacement yes, total cost for bulbs in a 10 pack from O'Reilly was $7.00. For less than $30 I fixed everything and was told none of what they refused me for was true. Do not go here. read more

Tried 3 VIP stores in the Bath area to have tires put on my car all too busy to help, very polite but no assistance available from these guys. Called Tire Warehouse and they were very busy but if I could give them some time they would accommodate me. ON my way to Tire Warehouse drove past all 3 VIP stores that I had called each had 1 or 2 cars in their lot. Arrived at Tire Warehouse and their lot was full found a place to park went inside to a very friendly greeting and my service was completed very quickly considering how many people were ahead of me. read more

Went in for two tires on a busy weekend morning. The service was fast, courteous and very fairly priced. While waiting for my tires I eavesdropped on the service manager making recommendations to a woman who needed lots of repairs-- I have done almost all of my own repairs for thirty years so I know necessary from not needed - I have never heard a more honest exchange from a service advisor ( I think his name was Ian) in my life - he was completely forthcoming about what had to be done, what should be done and what could wait to be done. I didn't need anything except my tires but I would recommend this man and his store to anyone based on being able to trust his advice. read more

This is a good operation. Richard and John are great service managers. They are both prompt and knowledgeable. A pleasure to deal with. I bought an expensive set of Michelin's off Richard two years ago and they are the best set of tires I have ever purchased. Since then I have used these guys for oil changes and rotations many times. I have always had a good experience. (Providing one of these two guys is there. Take your own risk on the weekend. Hence the four out of five stars.) I love these negative reviews! Bent the stick thingy Kaitlin? Not likely. Most vehicles "stick," have a bend in it. Left the gross mat on the floor? Oil residue on the wheel? Yeah, same thing happened to me... Took two seconds to clean the wheel and one second to crumple the gross mat. Small trade off for proper service on my vehicle when they were already very busy. I guarantee that I enjoy my Tacoma as much as whatever the hell that you drive Kaitlin.. Idiot. Anti corrosion spray Bob? Your mechanic is taking you for a ride. You're an idiot... So, Kerrie, they actually took you into the bay and REALLY didn't even bother to show you any of the work that needed to be done? Why even take you into the bay if they were trying to hose you? Also, Kerrie, tires come in a lot of sizes based on your vehicle and rim size. It's never gonna be $49.95 across the board. I witnessed several female customers while I have waited that were very happy with their service. I doubt that you were taken advantage of because that you're a woman. I went to VIP to get a tire and see if my car needed repair to pass inspection. They took me into the bay to show me the work it needed. They then proceeded to tell me that I needed a whole new exhaust system from front to back. They said my muffler had a hole in it. I needed a strut, two new tires and the third passed by a thread, they also said that oil was leaking from somewhere. Mind you they didn't show me the hole in my muffler they didn't show me why my tires needed replacement. So in the end they said to repair the car to get it to pass inspection was going to cost over 2,000$ which is more than I paid for it in the first place. I thought I think I need a second opinion. Needless to say I didn't need even half of the things they said I did. So I wouldn't bother to use them for anything but even a tire. Because they say they have tires starting at 49.95 but then they say "oh we don't have a tire your size at 49.95 the cheapest tire we have in your size is 108.00". I really felt they tried to take even more advantage of the situation because I'm a woman. I call but****t!!! read more

I looked and it was an anti corrosion spray my mechanic had sprayed earlier when I had it serviced. Very slow also. Took almost 2 hours to put on new tires. Go to cahills across the street!! Took my car in because of a slow leak that had me refilling it every 2-3 days. I was told the only thing found was a strip of rubber that kept the seal and they removed it, charging $18+ for the repair. I went to Brunswick, ME VIP to have tire re-torqued (I was in the area doing errands). After being directed to a bay, I waited 20 minutes while I watched mechanics laughing and smoking - no acknowledgement. So I left with plans of returning to Bath VIP. The next day, my low pressure light was on again and found the same tire was having issues. SO I returned to Bath VIP and THIS time they said they found a nail. I asked why it wasn't found the day before, and the saleswoman at the counter said "we weren't here". No apologies, nothing. Instead, she said the tire could NOT be plugged - I needed a new tire. The whole thing sounded sketchy, so I left declining the service. I took the car to Don Foshay's in Brunswick, ME and they repaired the tire for $18+. When I mentioned what VIP said about new tire, they laughed. And they re-torqued tire later immediately. Summing up - I WILL NEVER RETURN TO VIP (irregardless of locale). I will be a regular Don Foshay customer thanks to this incident - so Don can call VIP and thank them. read more

I was recently in Maine visiting my parents and needed my tires rotated before the drive back out to LA, I called the day before and was told I could come in the next day and it would take about 30 minutes, I arrived before my appointment time the following day and they took the vehicle around back to the service area....1 hour later I asked them how much longer it would take.....and the manager said they had had an emergency and they would be right on it.....2 hours later the same story....... 3 HOURS LATER....I finally was called up to the counter and given my keys........now this was supposed to be free as I had purchased my tires here the year before.......however when I got in my car 1/2 a tank of gas was gone..!!! (I had just filled it before taking it to VIP) and 120 miles had been put on the odometer !!!......I went back inside to ask the manager what had happened to my fuel and why there were so many miles put on my car.....and after the B.S stories of 20 minutes ...it turned out one of the mechanics had taken it home for lunch and a joy ride.......I was offered NO apology....NO money for the fuel.....basically I had my car stolen by these fools and from what I can see from other comments at other VIP stores this type of behavior seems to be condoned from the top down...never.....I said never will I go back to any of these locations and when someone asks for a recommendation....it won't be for VIP. read more
