I've been going here for a while now with my boyfriend and although the other reviews are not as positive, I say give this place the benefit of the doubt. They are short staffed but still keep pretty good clientele. If you're looking for a walk-in appt on the quicks, this is your place. The waiting usually takes 30mins to 1hr max. Was coming her since they opened. Tommy & Linda the owners were cool, however, they really need to learn better business practices; brushen up on customer service and learn common etiquette. I was tired of sloppy work and extra charges for white tips one day... and the next time the white airbrush was extra. Final blow was when family bought $150 gift certificate. 6 months later I tried to use it and they said expired. When does a salon or nail place expire after 6 mnth? They said they changed policy and thats that. When I said they basically took free money with no service, they said if they granted certificate they would lose money. ???? The lady who did my nails was very nice, which is why I'm giving an extra star to VIP. I got a French mani and French pedi (total: $48, which wasn't bad, but turned out not to be worth saving money on). Otherwise I couldn't give more than one star, because my nails chipped after two days (thank goodness I got them done the day before my friend's wedding!) on both my hands and toes, when I wasn't doing ANYthing with them~ additionally, she trimmed my cuticles too much and I started to get little flakes/peels of skin the next day. I came in the here on a Friday and I am new to the neighborhood. it was busy and was asked to wait 10 minutes but I had to wait a bit longer. the place is clean and nice. the price is average, $25 for pedicure and a fullset is $25. the girl who did my nails was nice and though she didn't talk much but the others did. I love the way my nails turned out at the end it was thin and smooth. i definitely will be coming back again soon! read more

Not worth it, unattentive staff and unclean. The woman working on my manicure wouldn't shape my nails round and did them square even though I explained I wnates the shape unchanged. I didn't feel comfortable with the level of cleanliness either for the tools. She pulled things from her desk drawer instead of from sealed packages. Worst experience ever!!! First, I had a teenager with a major attitude, and she did a sloppy job. Second, and worst of all, I am allergic to latex, so as I saw her reach for the gloves I kindly asked if they were latex and she said, "I don't know!" She goes to check and they are latex, so she starts complaining that she cannot put some solution on without them because it burns her hands, so I said then don't put it on, because I am not going to seize on your chair, so that you can put something on my feet. This place is my typical go to place on a Friday night on my way home from work. They are just OK. Service is usally good and the people are nice but they are more expensive than they should be. One older woman her is AMAZING but everyone else is just ok. One of my biggest pet peeves it to have 2 separate people- one to do my mani and one to do my pedi but here 9 times out of 10 your services are split. Drives me CRAZY!! read more

I'm only giving two stars because some of the employees are wonderful and the prices are right. They've redone the place and it looks beautiful. They take appointments or walk-ins. Sometimes, especially on the weekends, there is wait. I've been going to VIP on and off for 7+ years. I had acrylics for 3 years and for the most part, I was usually satisfied. The past year or so though, every single time I've been there I've been disappointed. Most of the time the paint job looks like a 12 year painted them. The color selection has gone down hill. When you pay with card, they ASK if you have cash. If I wanted to pay with cash, I would have handed you cash. Don't ask me. I would probably only go back if I absolutely HAD to get my nails and no place else was open. read more

I used to love this place; however, as soon as my visits became more infrequent I no longer felt worthy of their time. I began going to this place after they ripped off my fake nails and permanently ruined my real nails (that should have been the first sign). I decided to try their no-chip manicures because I wanted to rebuild my nail strength. The quality is good; however, it depends on who does your nails. Whenever I had one of the guys do my nails they took their time and the manicure lasted weeks. But when one of the girls did my nails it rarely lasted more than a week. Once my nails got stronger I slowly weaned myself off the no-chip and began getting regular manicures. Geez, you would think I slapped them in the face. As soon as I would walk in the door they would throw their no-chip options at me and stare over my shoulder. One time the girl was relentless. After repeatedly telling her I no longer want a no-chip manicure, I got a rude scoff from one of the girls and then proceeded to get the worst manicure of my life. I had to take the manicure off 2 days later and re-do it myself. Bottom line... I would only go to this place if one of the guys did my nails. Otherwise, just go to V Nails down Bartlett road. went there a couple weeks ago, got a full set. Guy was quiet didnt say really anything. Made my nails super thick..and long. after he painted them they were still too long..asked him to cut it. He started saying something in a different language to the other staff..then they all started talking, so i said its okay dont worry about it. they didnt even try to fix their unhappy customer. Worst Nail Experience! It took the man 2 hours to complete my no chip manicure, which I was very dissatisfied with the end product. He had to soak off my old no chip, which he put my hands in acetone because it was faster. After maybe a minute, he began to scrap off the polish with the tool repeatedly. Since it didn't come off fast enough for him he started scrapping so much he was removing pieces of my nail (like when you rip of fake nails). Then when he was buffing my nails he scrapped the skin above my cuticle and it bled. When it came to polishing my nails, he tried a few times with the color that I chose which was a purplish black. It was going on very faint. He tried a few more times after I kept asking why it was doing that. No response, but it will get darker. Finally, he tried a different color which wasn't what I chose. It's a purplish blue. My nails don't look professionally done and for $35.00. The sides are missing polish, he didn't go over the tips so you can see my nails underneath. Terrible experience, and will never go back here. You shouldn't walk away feeling upset and frustrated. read more

After my first pleasant experience, I stopped by on a weekday morning. There was one other customer. I was told to wait a few minutes since the salon wasn't fully open. Yeah right! I waited a full 30 mins and left since it wasn't worth my time to keep waiting. They shouldn't open their salon when there are no techs. If the owner had been honest about the wait, I might have stayed but she kept saying "just a few more minutes". Not going bak again. read more

i came in for a full set, they told me it would be only a 20 minute wait, which i didn't have an issue with since i was a walk in. but, more walk ins began to come in, and they started taking them before my friend & i. so i ended up waiting over an hour. anyways, the guy (i didnt get his name) was really rough with my nails. he made my cuticles extremely sore and really bloody and just blamed it on the fact i bite my nails, even tho my friend was bleeding and sore as well and she doesn't have a nail biting problem. my nails ended up extremely shorter than what i asked for, and the polish was put on so messy. another employee sat there on her phone and was just giving my friend & i dirty looks the entire time. i REALLY don't reccommend this place at all. read more

I recently moved to this area and have been looking for a salon to get no chip manicures. I went to VIP for the first time and liked that Linda used the caps to remove my no chip as opposed to soaking in acetone. She was very nice. However, the no chip nail polish was very thin and after the base and 2 coats of color I had to ask if she was applying a third coat as the color was very uneven, blotchy, darker in some spots and almost transparent in other spots. She applied a third coat and still not good results, she went for a 4th coat and by now I had lumps on some of my nails! So, I asked her to please just put the sealer and voiced my disatisfaction with how they looked. She offered a discount, apologized and asked for another chance. Only because she had been so nice did I decide to come back 2 weeks later. She only remembered me after I showed her the lumps. I asked her to please suggest a color or brand of the no chip polish that would not be thin. I selected one. I was a little dissapointed that this time Linda tried to soak my nails in acetone. I refused and told her my fingers get very irritated, my skin peels. She did the caps and scratched off the polish with mainly her own nail, which is not the proper way to take off. But over all this time there were no lumps and I left satisfied. I was there this weekend and though Linda was there she send me to some younger male. I explained my first experience with the thin no chip polish and asked which brand, colors were thick/good. Based on his suggestions I selected a pink color. The first thing he tried to do was soak my fingers in acetone. I refused turned to Linda and said you must not remember me, this is my 3rd time here and I want the caps, explained why again. They guy was still trying to convince me to soak, saying the caps and soaking are the same thing. Well if they are the same thing then it doesnt matter that I prefer the caps and I am not having my the skin all around my fingers and my finger tips get all irritated and burned! so i got the caps, he scratched off the polish with mainly his own nail. then he started on the new color. the base coat, uv light, the first coat of pink, uv light, the second coat of pink, uv light and I then voiced my concern with bein able to see my natural tips the color was so thin. at first he said that is how it is supposed to look, I said no. then he changed his demeanor and blamed me for picking that color! I asked him to just finish with the sealer not to worry I was paying but definitely not coming back. Linda and him were talking in vieatnamese, felt like they were talking about me and did not apologize, had a bad attitude. I can for sure say I gave them plenty of opportunities to earn my business but this salon is looking for providing non quality, fast business and making you like it! I will continue with my search for a true quality and professional nail salon. With so many out there, how can this be so difficult!!!! read more

The room is decorated a bit more nicely than most comparable nail salons and I got a pedi for $25 which is pretty standard. The thing that REALLY turned me off is that there were lots of really young girls there... like 12 and under. It was loud, busy, and crowded (albeit it was a Sunday afternoon on a beautiful day). I don't mind moms and daughters going out for a day together, but I prefer a more quiet and peaceful spa experience. I liked the polish selection and a waiting area with magazines and a nice tv (which was blasting an action movie...???). The woman who began doing my pedi was interrupted in the middle of filing my nails and sent to another client, and the woman who sent her off started working on me. This was comical but unprofessional. Nice foot and leg massage, exfoliating scrub, and pumice stone, but this is all standard. Nothing, however, stands out as a good reason to pick this place over another except that it's just a few blocks from my house. read more

If you dont know how to do something a costumer asks you to do , refer them to someone else so their nails dont come out looking like some nails from Jurassic park ( yes the dinosaur movie). Im highly disappointed , as usual especially from this salon. I dont understand why my mother continuously comes here . If she thinks its cheaper, its not worth it . The price on the board says 25 for acrylic ( and up) but the owner charged me 31 for almond shape black nails . Did my nails look like an almond shape ? No. Was i satisfied with what i got ? No. One nail came out shorter than the other looking like a triangle . I also asked for a little bit of glitter and its like the lady tried changing the color black to just a gray sparkle. This might look like a review from a one time costumer . But ive been here about 6 times and all the times that ive came here , they dont do their job right ! Also, this shop always has something bad to say about you in their language . Out of all the salons ive gone to , nun of them talk smack about you more than here. they ask if you like your nails , if you say no or disagree with their work, they will immediately start saying something about you to the other working. Even when they talk to you in english , you dont understand what theyre saying ( i dont have a problem with that). I have patience for people . I would frequent this salon at least once a month and that stopped today. They are so RUDE! My daughter had her original set of acrylics put on here and she came back today to have them filled and the man (don't know his name) said they were lifting, they were bad and who did these for you. She said politely, you did and if you don't want to fill them the just say so and I'll leave. He looked at her and didn't say a word. I was standing next to her to make sure he didn't become even ruder to her. My daughter sat there quietly for 30 minutes even after the man was late for her 10am appointment. Why make appointments if you don't keep them? He never spoke to her, all he did was shake his head and complain about how they were lifting and how they needed filing; isn't that what she is there for? And if they looked so bad (in his opinion, but they were fine) he should nut up and accept his work and repair what he didn't like. It was a hot mess, he was very rude and we won't be back. Go elsewhere, this place is a joke, rude customer service and lack of professionalism! read more

I've been to VIP nails a few times cause I live so close. The last time I had gone I had a bad experience with a poor paint job and not so great customer service, but I decided to let it slide and give them another shot. I regret it tremendously! I went in on a Wednesday morning around 10:30 for a no chip manicure and a pedicure. They were not busy at all. I had a man with glasses (not sure his name) do my nails and it took him almost THREE HOURS to finish! From start to finish, no interruptions! He needs to improve his skills big time! Every finger had nail polish around my cuticles so he had to go back over and over to clean the excess off, first with the brush and then with his own thumb nail! Every single finger nail he painted he had this process and took forever cleaning up and inspecting like it was his first time doing nails! When he was FINALLY done with the no chip manicure almost 2 hours later I turn my hands over and there is no chip polish on my finger tips! All that time he took cleaning up each nail and he still left polish on my finger tips. Just terrible!! The pedicure was "ok" not the best, but it at least was quicker! When i went to pay, the owner charged me $60, but then the guy who did my nails said $65. He charge me $5 just to put a glitter polish as a final coat. I have also been a little skeptical on the way they handle their cash. Just an fyi to all you customers. They need a lot of work on their customer service and common etiquette big time. I will NOT be returning. I will travel further and pay for better service than this. read more
