Very unprofessional male owner! Not only did he lecture me, for being "particular" because I wanted the shape of 1 single nail repair to match my other nails, he was rude. He made me very uncomfortable. See photo. The one middle finger nail he "repaired" was not only MUCH longer than the other nails but it was a square shape. When he took off my broken nail he was very harsh and it was very painful. When I inquired about pricing for a fill, he continued to lecture me as if I was one of his children, telling me I'm never going to be happy in life. Really? Wow! Because I mentioned that he charges $5 extra for a longer nail and $5 extra to file the nails, which should be included. I came to get a nail repaired not personal counseling. I'll never go back. VIP Nails and Spa is located in Kihei, Hi on Maui Island. I was in between visits and decided to walk in for a manicure. Lina, the owner waited on me and did my nails. Our conversation was so lite and genuine time just flew by. I realized in the short amount of time we spent together that we had a lot in common as business ladies. Her salon is nestled in the shopping center on S. Kihei Rd. It's a very nice size salon with plenty of pedicure chairs and nail stations. The staff working that day seemed friendly. They enjoy their jobs. My manicure was $25 and well done, especially because it was the owner. I look forward to returning again when I'm in Maui. read more

This place had great vibes- mellow but upbeat music, quick services, clean environment, easy parking, great massage chairs (I've been to places with broken ones or less chair settings), kind & friendly staff. I also appreciated Delux included callous removal, exfoliating scrub, oil massage, hot towels, and foot wax mask (other places in my area of CA have only included scrub & massage as "Delux".) Maria provided a great gel Delux pedicure. It was about $78 including taxes; my only critique would be posting the menu on Yelp or larger at the front desk but I'd say my fee was within range of going rates. read more

arcrylic nails it was horrible ! the young man who did my nails got visibly and verbally upset when i told him i wanted my nails shorter after he cut them medium length, which I had told him several times i wanted short nails . Four of my fingers have small cuts on them from his manicuring and the tool that they use and it's still painful. My friend also was over charged for two services for her pedicure and manicure and they didn't tell her about it until she went to pay... The was the second time I've ever had a pedicure and the ladies did an absolutely excellent job. I'm here on Maui on vacation and wanted to get my toes to look good. Really wanted to like this place. I'm a traveling nurse, aching feet sore everything else! Been looking for my go to nail place, came prepared to get mani, extra massage pedi, brown lips the whole thing. Instead left very disappointed in the lame $55 "delux" pedi where Maya only rubbed one part of each leg for about a minute then was done. Didn't go near the feet. Polish job was so so. She was over booked obviously by the way she kept walking away for another customers. $104 for mediocre mani pedi and that's all I got. Will never never recommend or be back! read more

I've been here three times, each time with my husband, and we are treated so nicely and sweetly every time. I prefer to make appointments but our family is so impulsive sometimes, oh, well. So despite the fact that I just popped in, on a Sunday afternoon, where every chair was full, I was greeted with a very nice smile. When I asked, maybe you can take my husband and I, in about an hour? It looked like eight customers in chairs, and two customers drying. I was being hopeful and prepared to be told, no, in two hours. Nope, I was told, "Sure, no problem." We came back after 45 minutes, and we were seated in the only two open chairs. For some reason, it is always my good luck that we get the husband and wife pair. My spouse enjoys bantering and half-complaining about his suffering with me, and the husband of the pair always supports him and makes jokes with him. The wife, to her credit, doesn't take any of her hubby's good-natured joshing, so she usually throws him a zinger or two. It's very funny. The salon is very clean, the nails are done very nicely, and the service is outstanding. There was a recent rate increase so be sure to check the prices against what Yelp! says. Was able to walk in and get a gel mani. I dont think ive ever loved a manicure as much. She did such a good job and was the master at cuticle cutting which often times I get nicked. I've been debating on posting this review but the more I think about it the more disappointed I am. I previously had a good experience with this place so I decided to go back. I showed the nail guy a picture & asked if he could replicate it, he said yes no problem. I originally asked for gel but he convinced me to do the dip because "gel would just peel off & the dip will make my nails stronger". I figured it would be more expensive but I didn't mind. I figured he was trying to up-sale which I respect & wanted something that wouldnt chip. He asked if I cared if he used a fancy polish, again figuring it would cost more, it looked kind of cool so I said sure. I kept asking if he needed to see the picture I initially showed him in which he kept insisting he didn't need it, he remembered it. 2 hours in to being there, I noticed he was doing something completely different than what I asked. I asked if he needed to see the picture again because the design was way off. He then started arguing with me that he was doing his own design because mine didn't go with the polish he picked out for me. I explained that I didn't realize that changing the polish meant completely changing my design & apologized for the miscommunication. I stated I wanted the design I asked for originally. He continued to argue with me about my design, even going as far as telling me it wouldn't work & that he wouldn't be able to do it anyway. Then told me that my design would be expensive.... I'm very aware of how add ons work & if I'm treating myself, I don't really care what the cost is. if I ask for something expensive, I'm ready to pay for the expenses, none the less , I don't feel it is their place to tell me that what I want is too expensive especially not knowing my financial situation? If what I'm asking for is expensive, then I definitely want it to look exactly how I want it to look, not whatever you come up with. He continued to be passive by then going back & doing my nails partially how I wanted then telling me "see it doesn't look good" then taking everything off. At this point I was very frustrated as I had a flight to catch later that day & had other things to do before leaving island. I explained that I was frustrated & didn't want to even move forward at that point because I had been there for a couple of hours & was starting back at the beginning for the 3rd or 4th time. I still wanted to respect his time that he spent since it was busy as well as mine because it would be a bummer to sit there all that time & leave with nothing. I expressed that maybe just doing a simpler design because at that point I was just over being there. He then started getting an attitude with me AGAIN stating that "no it's fine we can start over as many times as we need to, it's okay if other people are waiting & theirs a line. He'll just keep starting over". At no point did I treat him as if my time was more important than his or anyone else there, I actually kept apologizing to him for the miscommunication & any inconvenience it caused even tho I feel that he was 100% in the wrong. I get that mistakes happen & it's just nail art so I wasn't going to let it ruin either of our day but for him to keep arguing with me and giving me attitude when I was very clear about what I wanted from the beginning is not cool. he decided to change things without my knowledge. When he finally finished my nails I realized he left the dip base on & just painted over it with gel to "do what I asked for originally " I paid full price & decided to just get over it & move on since it was over with. after 3.5 hours my nails were finally done , I didn't want to waste anymore energy on it. Despite the attitude, I noticed he probably didn't leave the situation feeling great either so I still decided to tip. not even TWO days later, the gel was peeling off, the dip was chipping off & it was breaking my real nail underneath. my nails looked so terrible & would get stuck in my hair, snagged on any fabric I touched or would scratch me up any time I touched anything. I decided to get them redone at another salon in which the lady there said she would suggest gel over dip any day when it comes to lasting , upkeep and maintaining the health of the natural nail. I went with the gel and it lasted me over 2 weeks. Never lifted, never chipped, it looked fresh & brand new up until the day I needed to go back for a fill. Every time I think back about how horrible this guy did my nails which now feels like it was very intentionally done that way, it's very upsetting. read more

I've been coming to this Nail Salon for around a year now, and I'm only writing this review now because I wanted to see how the consistency of this nail salon was! Many people know most salons struggle with consistency, or you get a different person every time and one person is better than another. However, this isn't the case here! Every person on Lina and Derek's staff are amazing! As someone with adhd, I always over-analyze my nails (not their fault just a me thing) and if I don't like them or if something's off about them, i usually pick them off. This salon has amazing consistency, amazing staff, and amazing nails! I always get similar but different nails here and every time they are amazing! I always get exactly what I ask for!
