First I walked in for a gel set and he told me to go down the street to the other salon. This should have been a red flag. Why did his wife book my full gel set if he didn't want to do it. I did not have the time to go drive around Winchester as I am not from here looking for a nail tech. I proceeded to ask him what he wanted to do and he said acrylic I said ok do it. All he did was talk through my set about how dirty every nail salon is and what horrible job they do. After spending 65 dollars with tax I wanted to cry. He had the nerve to say if If something came off to come up and he wouldn't charge me. This told me that he knew he did a shitty job. I got the Happy Pedicure (only $37!) and it included a scrub, callus removal, a massage, paraffin wax, and a coat of polish. They are very busy, so they only take appointments. The owner and his wife were very friendly and they both did a wonderful job from start to finish. I had a mani and pedi done. The spa pedicure was amazing. I totally fell asleep during the massage. They also do a paraffin wax wrap on your feet! I have severe plaque psoriasis on my legs. I never felt uncomfortable or judged. They were respectful and very gentle. The mani was great. I had to ask to reshape my nails a few times, but I'm pretty sure it's just my nail bed is crooked on my finger. Some of the colors they offer have been sitting on the shelf for a while; but they have multiples of colors and have well known brands (i.e. OPI, Essie, China Glaze, etc.). Jim the manager was very unprofessional! I went there 4 weeks ago to get my real nails filled with acrylic overlay. One of the male workers in the back left corner filled my nails. I left and 10 minutes later one cracked just from taking my keys out the ignition. I went back and told him it crack he fixed it. It happened again an hour later.... i went back the next day and told him they were clearly too thin bc i am not doing any hard labor to have my nails crack this easily. Once he redid them i had no issues... my nails were fine for 4 weeks! I went back today and got a pedicure and once i was done with that I sat in the chair with the same guy and he took off the top coat of two of my nails and just stopped... the manger said he didn't want to do my nails because he didn't get paid for fixing my nails!!! FIXING NAILS THAT HE MESSED UP!!!!! The manger said he would do my nails but when i sat down he started to put a clear coat on top... i asked what he was doing and he said he was putting a top coat on so i can go somewhere else bc i was too picky and no one wanted to do my nails.... YES i am picky because it is my money i am spending!! They are unprofessional and the customers clearly do not matter in their eyes. DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON! I tried this place for the first time Thursday and it was worth every penny. Got a pedicure that wasn't rushed and had an extensive massage (Thanks Helen). I was wearing a dress and they draped a towel over my legs which was such a respectable detail. I decided to get the coffin shape which was something new for me and Tony went above and beyond to make sure my nails were perfect. I have very sensitive nails and he took extra special care of them as gently as possible. This salon is the ONLY one In the area that I will allow to touch my nails from here on out. After I read all the good reviews I decided to go here to get a full set done for a vacation I was going on. I sat down at the manicure table and waited for a few minutes while the person next to me was getting the tips glued on. While waiting I saw the dremel tool Tony was using on the other person slip several times onto the cuticle and finger and once it started to bleed with nothing more than a mumbled 'sorry' from Tony. I also noticed nail clippings and acrylic dust between the manicure tables. Then Tony came over and glued tips on my nails before going back to the other person. I waited for another 45 minutes or so and then I was shifted over to Kevin and he did the pink and white and filing. I specifically told Kevin I wanted them square and he 'squovaled' them (rounded the edges of the nail). While my nails were being done Tony stood next to Kevin and proceeded to have a conversation in Vietnamese. I was then shifted to yet another chair while someone else was put into my old seat and Tony put gel top coat on my nails. There was acrylic dust everywhere and the dremel tools and files were not sanitized and I watched as they used the same ones they used on me on someone else with no cleaning. On close examination four of my nails were crooked and uneven, the pink was not put far back enough on most of the nails, the white smile lines on the majority of my nails were off center, and on my left thumb there was black fuzz in the pink. I was then rushed to pay and practically shoved out the door because a large group was arriving in an hour. Days later, the gel top coat was badly chipped. Two weeks after they were done I went back to get them removed because the corner of one of the plastic tips was lifting and they looked like they needed a fill. I wanted to explain my problems and insist they remove them for free but they were closed in the middle of a day (not lunch hour) with no note or anything on the door to explain why. I went to Magic Nails next to Sally's and had them removed. I paid fifty for the full set which I thought was a little pricey for the area and especially for the quality. Overall, the people were rude and the quality of work deplorable. I do not recommend this salon nor will I go back. 11/27/14 - Today I saw that Michella D. had responded to my review and thought that I had reviewed the wrong salon. I know I went to a VIP Nails & Spa on Valley Pike about a hundred yards from The Puppy Cottage. Based upon the address of this business as well as a picture another Yelp user put up of the business front, I can conclude I reviewed the correct business. As far as an employee named Kevin not working there for over a year, perhaps she is referring to someone else but the man that did my nails told me his name was Kevin.
