I was visiting a more "upscale" salon in Winchester before that, but I was never 100% satisfied with the pixies I got there. I have wonky, wavy hair that doesn't seem to be easy to get right when it's that short. The stylist at the Winchester salon showed me tricks to work around the wonkiness, like hair products and heat tools, but I'm a VERY low-maintenance (read: lazy) person, so I just went around being okay with, but not adoring, my cut. When I went to schedule a cut at that location after not being able to tolerate my growing-out pixie (if you've had a pixie, you know the exact desperation I was feeling), they were booked a month out. I decided to try the place just a couple minutes from my house, thinking it would be a gamble but that my hair couldn't look much worse than it already did. I had pretty low expectations: The salon is in the Food Lion strip mall near the ABC. When I called to see when I could come in, they said, "Our next opening is in 20 minutes. Can you do that?" My expectations fell even lower-- I mean, the other place was booked for a month out, and this place could see me right now?--, but again, I was desperate. I went for it. I am so glad I did! Everyone there is so sweet and competent. I'm an introvert and normally feel very awkward having to talk to the hairdresser, but Katelynn is easy to talk to and doesn't make me feel weird if I'm being quiet. She gives great scalp massages when she washes my hair, and that day, I got my first pixie cut that made me feel AMAZING. I posted a new Facebook profile pic with it and so many people said they loved my hair-- which they hadn't said with my "upscale" pixie. One of my friends called it my new signature haircut, saying that the other ones kind of looked like old lady pixies and that this one looked younger and fresher. I can't disagree there! The cut suited me perfectly, and best of all, it needed NO special attention. Katelynn saw exactly where my cowlicks were and cut my hair so that every single part behaved every day with no fuss-- I literally rolled out of bed and didn't need to comb my hair in the mornings. The cut grew out beautifully until the next time I saw her to trim it. Since then, I've decided to try growing my hair out, partially to see if she can make longer hair look just as good on me. I initially got the pixie because I hated the way my hair behaved when it was long, but I have a feeling Katelynn will be able to tame the beast! She's working with me to keep my hair looking nice throughout the awful growing-out stage, and she must be doing a great job, because even on the days when my hair feels its dorkiest, people stop me in public to ask who does my hair. Even though I'm trying something new with my hair right now, it's such a relief to know that I can always trust Katelynn to get me back to my tried-and-true, elegant pixie cut. :-)

I was just at Top Ten Nails in Woodstock Virginia. Eddy and Mary own this business. I've gone for…read moreover 12 years on a regular basis to see Mary to keep my Acrylic nails done. I've never had any problems but have seen Eddy treat customers poorly. I had one nail pop off one and a half weeks after they were done. I called and they were busy. I noticed today that I had green underneath one of my other nails. So this was 2.5 weeks after getting them done. I had one pop off, one fell off at the salon today and I had the green nail bed on the third nail. No one wanted to accept responsibility and Eddy started yelling at me when I said I was upset with what was happening. Mary said it was time for me to come for a fill in and Eddy said I had a bruise on my nail. It was no bruise. It was where the acrylic nail had lifted up and water got in causing my nail to turn green. He stood up and was telling me it was my fault and if I didn't like it, I could leave. I talked with Mary again while I was seated in front of her. I explained I had never had these problems. She said it was because of my grandchildren that I take care of. I told her it wasn't because of them. But she insisted. I told her I stay home every day and I don't soak my nails in water so something was wrong. Eddy started yelling again and came over and told me to get out of his place and I could never come back. This kept going on with him yelling while his wife Mary kept telling me it's ok, she will take care of it. Eddy had me crying hysterically and my hands shaking. I said I was going to call and he said "go ahead call, I don't care, this is my business. I was going to call my husband. I finally texted my husband and told him to come and help me. He came and Eddy lied and said I yelled at Mary. When my husband asked Mary about it she said I didn't. Mary kept apologizing for Eddy and he never once apologized. He didn't feel like he did anything wrong. I will never return there again even though Mary said for me just to talk with her next time and don't talk to him. It's a shame because Mary did a great job for many years and her husband destroyed a place that I enjoyed going to on a regular basis. Please don't go. Eddy was so disrespectful, he doesn't deserve that business. My husband took me home and I have been crying and shaking ever since. I have never ever been talked to in such a manner. I need this to be posted on every review site available.

They booked me an appointment with Trish, and I must say, I couldn't be happier with the result! I knew I needed a bit removed, as my ends were very damaged and had to go. I got a great cut, and a nice color as well. My hair feels so much healthier & the cut and color are just what I was hoping for. I thought it was going to be difficult finding a new stylist, after my gal for the last 7 years moved away, but who knew I'd find her right across the street from my church!
