Today I visited Lush Nails. I just moved to the area and I haven't found my home nail salon. I walked in and the decor and music was relaxing. I had made an appointment with Ben because I saw the great reviews he had on his dipping powder full sets. I walked I and I was immediately greeted with an open chair. It was so nice that they were actually ready for me for my appointment and I didn't have to wait. I sat down and he immediately filed off my top layer so he could wrap my finger in foil. He wrapped my fingers in foil and then draped a hot towel over my hands to relax while my dipping powder loosened up. This was a nice touch! I was so pleased with Ben's work. He is a professional and very meticulous. He is friendly and welcoming. Talking to Ben I found out he was the owner and he only works by appointment for the most part! I never leave bad reviews, but this is going to be a long one. After going to Lush for years, I've always had a good experience. Not today. I went in yesterday for a gel fill, showed the nail technician a reference photo of the color I wanted, and she helped me choose between a few colors to achieve that look. She applied a couple coats of one color, and another of a different color, and they turned out looking nothing like the picture I showed her. She asked me if I liked them and because I didn't want to be rude, I told her they were fine, tipped her, and left. I went home and realized that they were even worse than what I thought they were. I called this morning and told them that I got my nails done last night, wasn't happy with the color and that it wasn't what I wanted, and asked how much it would cost to change the color. They told me that they wouldn't charge me to fix the color. I come in for my appointment today, and the same nail technician who did my nails last night says that she can take me. She asked what was wrong with them, and I told her that the color wasn't what I wanted and they looked nothing like the photo I showed her. Obviously, since she failed at replicating my original photo, I showed her a different color that I wanted to change it to. She told me that that's what I chose and if I wanted to change the color, it would "only cost me $20". I asked her why it would cost me $20 when the woman I spoke to on the phone said that it would be free? She began to get an attitude with me, laughed when I was speaking, and told me that I couldn't just come in and get my nails done for free because I decided I didn't like them the next day. I told her I would leave and go somewhere else if I was going to have to pay to get them fixed anyways. Why wouldn't I want a different color than the one she used last night that looked horrible? Why would I want to get my nails done by the same nail technician who messed up my nails the night before? I left, and immediately called and asked to speak to a manager. Funny enough, the woman I spoke to on the phone earlier who told me I wouldn't have to pay to get them fixed was the manager. She told me that I would have to pay since I showed them a different photo when I went in today then the one I showed them last night, which again, makes NO sense. Finally, after she spoke back and forth with my nail technician while I was on the phone with her, she said "come in at 6:00" and hung up. The customer service was horrible (something I've never had an issue with in the past) and I left feeling extremely disappointed and uncomfortable. I will not be returning. read more

I've been here 3 times now. The first time was great, so I returned. The second time was horrible. I ended up with bubbles in my nails, and they started to come off within a few days. I figured it was an off day, so I went back a third time and the lady was awful. She cut me twice. One of my nails is crooked and she refused to believe so. There are bubbles everywhere and they started peeling off quickly. Also, when I showed her what color I wanted (for my wedding a few days after) she refused to give it to me and she said it was "too light". I was persistent on having the color I chose and she finally gave it to me (normally I wouldn't be, but it was perfect for my wedding theme). I shouldn't have to argue with someone about the color I'm picking for my nails when I'm paying them to do so. I will definitely NOT be returning. read more

Wasn't going to leave a negative review but I figured since my experience here really irked my nerve I'd share. I can't remember the guy who did my nails, but he rushed through the whole process and wouldn't even let me wash my hands before applying the gel polish. Every salon I've ever been to only charges 30$ for a gel full set , but for some reason I was charged 35$. Which was fine however I go to get my nails done to relax and the whole time the guy constantly was asking me if I was okay. Again, fine the first few times but got old very quick. My boyfriend called while I was having my nails done and he picked up my phone answered it and put it on speaker. I found that annoying and rude. I didn't ask him to do that. My boyfriend could and would have more than willingly waited for the call back. Then when all was said and done , I paid with card. I wasn't given the option to tip after the transaction went through so I had to tell the guy how much I wanted to tip him. I told him 5$ because at this point I was annoyed and thought that was fair considering the annoyances I went through. He looked at me and literally had the nerve to say "5$ really?". Looking back I should have said "uhh none now" but I was in a rush out the door and wanted to avoid conflict. Needless to say, I dont think the extra 5$ is worth it to continue getting my gel sets/fills there and definitely won't be returning. read more

Another disappointment. If the quality of my manicure had outweighed the experience I had today, I would have refrained from posting anything negative. My impression while waiting was they like to overbook their schedules, then they like to jockey you around from seat to seat and technician to technician, depending on your appointment type. Again, like other local nail salons, the conditions appeared very unsanitary. Not once did I see any one clean their instruments between clients, only a swift swipe of their big brush. I also think these salons should be educated on how UNPROFESSIONAL it is to speak under their breath (to each other obviously in their language). It is painfully obvious they are discussing clients openly and publicly. My manicure was rushed along so that they could accommodate as many people as possible after me $$$$$... I will continue to look for a decent nail salon. Also let me add... another shop that soaks the nails in acetone with cottage balls and aluminum foil (not the plastic nail clips at other reputable salons) for anywhere from 15-30 minutes... then once again... files the existing powder color polish down with the electric filer!?!? I have been told by reputable salons outside of Virginia, that this is NOT the way to remove acrylic, gel, or powder polish!!!! read more
