We got…read moremarried at The 1812 Farm the day of Hurricane Lee; we truly believe this would not have been possible without Sarah and her team. When no hotels, air bnb's, or family had power or running water, the 1812 Farm had a backup generator that allowed our wedding to go on as if nothing out of the ordinary was happening outside. We know from our other vendors that not many other couples having their wedding that day could say that. The 1812 Farm saved our wedding, made it more amazing than we could've ever dreamed, and you should absolutely let them do the same for you. Sarah was in touch with us constantly the week before our wedding, updating us on the weather and preparing us for the inevitable moving of our outdoor ceremony from Pemaquid Point to inside the barn. Her attentiveness allowed us to make this switch days in advance to ensure that we could get returns on our deposits and inform guests of the change with enough notice. She was also extremely helpful and flexible in guiding us through how we would have to adjust the barn in real time from a ceremony setup to a reception one. This transition was so flawless that we doubt anyone even noticed and to this day are still not sure how they did it. The 1812 Farm ensured that the bridal party was able to get ready in a space that had both electricity and running water!! Both our hair and make-up vendors were receiving live horror stories via text about weddings having to move locations at the last minute or do their hair and make-up in the dark. The 1812 Farm even had a shower that we could use since none of the hotels had power - We're telling you, this venue is prepared for ANYTHING. The staff was also beyond incredible at helping us adjust to the last minute changes. To be frank, there were many last-minute details we failed to coordinate because of the last minute change and general stress of the weather. Sarah and her team were so thoughtful in asking questions about these items and when I just looked panicked, graciously stepped in to say they would take care of making everything perfect. They did. Many of our guests told us they would have had no idea the ceremony wasn't meant to take place in the barn and commented on how seamless everything looked and felt throughout. If all this hasn't fully sold you yet, we must emphasize the food. Our wedding was three months ago and still all of our friends and family are talking about the food. Remember, this is a wedding that took place during a HURRICANE... and yet the crab cakes are still the main topic of conversation. We knew when we first started planning our wedding that we wanted the food and drink menu to be really fantastic and to reflect midcoast Maine. Sarah spent a lot of time going over all the different food options and helped us narrow down the right choices for our wedding. Her experience also really helped us to balance our tastes with the necessities needed to make all our guests happy. The Stone Cove Catering menu is honestly a dream and everything on it sounds incredible, but our recommendation would be to try and incorporate the crab cakes and swordfish skewers in some way. We also opted for a lobster bake rehearsal dinner the night before which was not only delicious, but also such a fun and unique experience for our friends and family. Lastly we will note that we looked at a lot of venues around midcoast Maine for our wedding and The 1812 Farm was unquestionably the perfect choice. The barn and surrounding landscape are beautiful and the place is incredibly maintained; Sarah is so knowledgeable and really seems to care about every wedding on the property; and they are so organized and prepared for any wedding scenario you could imagine.

Red Claw provided absolutely no utensils for opening the lobsters - no seafood crackers, no crab mallets, no seafood scissors, and no crab knives. They expected us to open up the lobsters with a wooden knife and fork... Red Claw served so-called steaks and soggy corn, yet there were no salt-and-pepper shakers or any other condiments made available. The food was so inedible that guests left the reception early so they could get something to eat at nearby restaurants. Red Claw should change their name to Amateur Hour Lobster Bakes.

Tom & his team knocked it out of the park for our Rehearsal Dinner last weekend!!…read more Super communicative throughout the planning process, Tom arrived at the property a few hours before the dinner for set up - all he asked of us was hose access & any beers we could spare ;) We did a Lobster Bake for 45 people and everything was delicious - from the lobsters (or risotto, for our vegetarian friends), to the blueberry cake, to the hardboiled egg timers! Our guests raved to us about the rehearsal dinner all weekend. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and will be recommending Tom to everyone we know who is planning an event in mid-coast Maine.

It was a dream to work with someone so creative and flexible for our wedding. Laura allowed us to tell her about our dream spread for our wedding and then she priced it out based on the things we really wanted. She was wonderful about making suggestions and adjustments and could even accommodate my vegan cousin who is also gluten free and deathly allergic to nuts and soy (yes, I know). We loved how mobile Laura was and that she was able to work at our site, but keep in mind that if you want her to work in more unusual locations that she will have to rent equipment to do her fine work with her staff. The process was incredibly creative and satisfying. She hosted a beautiful tasting in our own home for five (although I think only four are included). Laura's food was absolutely divine. We had our rehearsal dinner catered by her (as a drop-off): Pulled pork, cold bbq chicken, amaaaazing potato salad, corn pudding, cookie platter (you know-- exactly the kinds of foods you want to eat the night before you squeeze into your finery). Our wedding buffet included 5 delightful passed hors d'oeuvres, an epic charcuterie and cheese spread, a family style salad and bread course, and then a buffet of grilled bistro steaks and salmon, roasted vegetables and fresh summer salads. We were in heaven! Laura outsources wedding cakes, but she did make some amazing peach and apple hand pies as an alternative to wedding cake! Her bartender made a haymakers punch (switchel-- awesomely refreshing) and raspberry leaf iced tea and they were happy to serve the alcohol that we had purchased. We were incredibly happy with the wonderful service on the day of the wedding. The team she assembled to serve on the wedding day was incredibly friendly and professional. Five stars all around! *A quick suggestion to guests working with your caterer on a larger event is to dump e-mail contents/conversation tidbits into a Google Doc that you can share with Laura. There was a lot of back and forth on the phone and e-mail that got confusing at times. Do yourself a favor and keep it all in one sacred location! *Laura only took checks for our payments which was fine for us, but we would have appreciated being able to PayPal our payments as floating thousands of dollars in checks to the many vendors (none of whom took credit cards or PayPal) was rather nerve racking at times.
