We are so lucky to have a new Greek restaurant in the suburbs! What used to be Mon Ami Gabi is now Violi, a sister restaurant to Lyra. Such a beautiful restaurant and a great atmosphere, I can't wait for the warmer months to sit on their patio. The staff was so welcoming and attentive. Tea was so sweet and walked us through the menu. It is a big space, perfect for large gatherings, but it does get quite loud. Nevertheless, Tea was so gracious. apologized for the noise, and got started with our cocktails! We shared the octopus, zucchini chips, and sausage to start. The octopus melted in your mouth and the zucchini chips were crisp to perfection and paired beautifully with their refreshing tzatziki. The sausage was my favorite as it was stuffed with feta- such a nice touch! We had the lamb with mushrooms and you can tell everything was made with such care and attention. Everything was so delicious! Dessert was a showstopper with their bougatsa, how do they do it?! We can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu with our friends and family! Welcome violi, we love you! read more

I got the lamb gyros for lunch. It wasn't like other people's photos on Yelp, but was instead like soggy stewed meat - not like any gyros I've ever had anywhere else. Also, it was a very small amount of meat for the price and there was a 3% surcharge - which I had removed and for which the server could not even tell me why it was on the bill...yet another money-grab from yet another disreputable establishment. read more

We went to this restaurant for dinner after a long, stressful day. The ambience is amazing, the aesthetic is great for pictures. Our server was so gracious and patient with us. He explained all the items that we were interested in and talked us out of some items that might not work based on, our needs. Our server was also the bartender and we explained our likes and dislikes, and he recommended delicious drinks for us as well. We started off with the bread and spreads and enjoyed each of the spreads. As an entrée, I got the lamb Gyro, and the meat was so tender, my only issue was at the meat continued to cook once it was on the table and stuck to the plate a little bit. my sister got the half chicken with lemon sauce and she very much enjoyed it. We had a great time. There was ample parking, which was great because we had gotten it really large truck as a rental while in town. The location is by a lot of other restaurants, so it's perfect. If you want to go somewhere else for a nightcap or for dessert afterwards. I would love to return to this restaurant, we had such a great time. read more

Lyra in the burbs. Love the atmosphere and food offerings. Waiter could've done a better job explaining the dishes but no complaints besides that and where we were sitting. Tough to get a reso in the main restaurant area. Parking is a nightmare but valet is an option. I'd go back. Desert was meh.... Presentation was great. read more

Love the ambiance! Great place for special occasions or just to meet up with friends. Food is great however this is where I lose one star which is not having a little more halal options. I would like tongue more dishes but because I have to stick to maybe 3-5 dishes each time, it gets "boring". A however, if you haven't been here or would like to go time to time,'I suggest you going/continue going. They do this whole vibe check thing with handheld sparklers at a certain time (9-10:30 pm) so if you want to have fun, especially with the girls! Service is good but I've noticed, once I say "halal", servers aren't as present any more. Not sure if it's cause we won't be getting alcohol drinks but idk, I just get that vibe. Other than that, they been great, which I can say was one gentleman. He was so sweet and with everything and took time to explain the halal options. I forgot his name but he had multiple piercings read more

I like the modern Greek style here for dinner. Very upscale but cozy. Our server was so helpful and professional and we didn't wait long for our drinks and our food. The Hades, Aphrodite, and Espresso Martini cocktails were delicious. We ordered octopus, fire roasted eggplant, rock shrimp and feta, potatoes, zucchini, and the Branzino. For dessert, bougatsa (funky presentation)! Everything was delicious and very flavorful (sometimes I think Greek food is one note but not this place). Be ready to pay more because it is Oak Brook but I'll be coming back. read more

Enjoyed the decor and ambiance. Nice large bar and good happy hour specials- I had the spanakopita which was exactly as it should be. The seafood linguine was certainly a standout - all of the seafood was cooked perfectly and the sauce had a very sweet and complex flavor. Good old fashioneds too - I was overall impressed. read more

As always the food is delicious. We had a large group and ordered many dishes from the menu. Favs were the breads & spreads, rock shrimp, grilled meatballs and the Violi chopped. The Greek coffee was not my "cup of tea" but the Bougatsa and walnut & banana cake did not disappoint. read more

Loved the ambiance and the service was good. I ordered the gyro and found it very greasy. I was expecting better.

It took 30 mins for a server to even get our order. The server was nice though and we did get food 10 mins later. The food was delicious but not worth the price. We got the spanakopita, gyro, and the braised rib pasta. read more

Despite visiting on a busy Friday evening, we were able to get a table right away - they have a lot of seating. The vibe is trendy and casual fine dinning. The host and our server were really great, attentive to our needs and made some great suggestions. We got some drinks, appetizers, entrees and a dessert - everything dish was delicious and we enjoyed our time/food very much. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a date night or a nice place to dine with friends/family! read more

So over priced.bang for buck is not there.will never go back.food was ok.but worth the price

Violi was good. It was very good, actually. I was surprised to be honest, as I really disliked Lyra. Violi was a mini Lyra outside of Oakbrook mall but I actually liked it. The food was pretty great, with the exception of the meze like platter but I was pleasantly surprised. Their wine was pretty good as well. I would have liked to see some more traditional ones like the Hatzimichalis ones but it's okay. The bar is closed at 1 and turns into a club on Fridays. They give you these fun glow sticks, and it can be a great time. The crowd is interesting but overall a fun experience. read more

Interior decor was very good and it was a busy Saturday night. Music was loud and overbearing and the DJ had headphones on so he was oblivious. Sounded like a club rather than a restaurant. Couldn't have a conversation and could barely hear the waiter. Dinner came fast, but 2 glasses of wine ordered with dinner came after the food was eaten. Cappucino was warm, not hot. Food was okay, but could be better. Presentation was very good. We had a party of 6 so we sampled quite a few items. Biggest rip off was a charred octopus appetizer--$27 for an 8" piece. Could have been cooked a bit more too, but the sauce was tasty. Ice cream dessert was fun, creative and served well. Wait staff was plentiful but service was spotty. Busboys were great. Our waiter actually walked away while we were in mid-sentence deciding on a dessert. ‍ read more

This was the worst experience we have had in a restaurant in about 20 years. Service was terrible. Waiter was not very friendly, he was very slow and forgetful, never checked on us. We had to ask our bus boy to get the waiter when we needed something. It took about 20 minutes to just order drinks. Then about 15 minutes to actually get them (1st round). Then the waiter dropped them all when he got to the table. Of course got some down my back but didn't say anything cause what would they do anyway. They didn't taste like there was any liquor in the mixed drinks. Just tasted like fruit juice. Took forever to order food. Food took forever. Then they forgot a whole meal. Had to wait again. While waiting on our food we ordered a second round of drinks. We waited a half hour then only half the drinks came. Waited AGAIN and they finally came. Then the waiter said those four would be comped. NOT. Comped two of them and charged us for the other two that were supposed to be comped and then he argued with us when we pointed it out. The glasses of wine were a joke. Restaurants fill a wine glass almost half full. These were a quarter full! Really?!?! Portions were tiny. Real tiny. This isn't an 8 course meal so proper portions are expected. The lamb chops were all fat! I know lamb chops have fat but this was crazy. It seemed way understaffed. Management needs to get it together. Check was messed up. No surprise there. We got sat in the front part of the restaurant. It feels like a sun room and not a proper room. The woman's bathroom was disgusting. No paper towels to dry your hands. No toilet paper on the rolls. They were laying around everywhere. Water everywhere. Toilet paper all over the floors. Trash bins overflowing onto the floor all over the place. Just nasty. This place felt like a cheap hole in the wall. That wasn't even the half of it. I will never be back. The only highlight was our bus boy. He was very sweet and tried to help us out as much as he could. Really great guy. I wish he had been our server. Nobody but the bus boy asked if we needed anything or asked how the food was tasting. Ugh. read more

This place is just phenomenal...great ambience, amazing service and just phenomenal food. it's such a vibe that you literally cannot miss. So cute on the outside and on the inside. We did get sat outside which I wasn't happy about but it was still cute. We went inside after dinner to take some pictures. The dessert is amazing.... BOUGATSA is just heaven sent I can't stop thinking about it since I left on Thursday night. Definitely will be back. Thank you for the great experience. Must try 11/10 read more

My partner and I visited for our anniversary and greatly enjoyed the experience. We parked valet for only $8 and loved the option of being able to request the car through a provided link. It even allows you to pay using Apple Pay. The restaurant had a chic ambience with warm lighting. The enclosed patio area was beautiful and floral. Once we were seated, we were celebrated with complimentary glasses of Prosecco. We started dinner with the octopus, it was amazing. For entrees, we order the Gyro plate, the beef tenderloin Souvlakia, and a side of feta cheese. For cocktails we had a Sidecar and the Aphrodite. Dinner was absolutely phenomenal! We highly recommend the Gyro which was like a slow braised lamb rather than the beef/lamb mix that's shaved off of the spit. We had the Portokalopita for dessert and LOVED it! Our server Todd made the experience memorable by being attentive and friendly. We enjoyed our anniversary here! We will definitely be back. read more

Not my first time at this establishment, I always expect greatness! This time around I had Alex as my server again and he hit the mark with straight A's. What an amazing experience he made it for me and my family! Food and drinks were obviously great, but everything was brought out at an appropriate time, he was always attentive but never overbearing. We went there last night on a very cold evening and were sat in the corner of the indoor patio section by the door. It was drafty and frigid. When we asked to be moved, we were informed they were fully booked. We complained multiple times to our server who was apologetic and attempted to increase the heater, to no avail. I spoke to the manager prior to our departure, who concurred this was an issue but no attempt was made to compensate us. We spent $500 to basically eat outside. Disappointing... read more

Too expensive. Not typical Greek dishes. The outside is pretty for happy hour the staff was fine.

This skillet dish was exquisite in presentation and taste. Tenderness within the wagyu beef satisfied my taste buds. Along with it, came mini sweet peppers, smoked onions, and an orange glacéd sauce to spice up the entree. Service wise, the response time was a hit and miss to order immediately. Violi's whole design represents its Greek Roots in an easygoing atmosphere with a dim lighted theme of mystery. read more

Elevated Greek food with the "haute cuisine establishment" vibe. Top quality ingredients used to create familiar dishes. $32 gyros dish was EXCELLENT, but don't expect meat strips with a side of fries. Service really added to my positive experience.
