Decided to check this place out for an early lunch. Menu is pretty large so it took me a few minutes to read through the whole menu. Service was friendly. I went with the grilled chicken plate which came with 2 sides. Honestly, the portion size was large and can easily be split with another person. Plenty of chicken that is seasoned nicely. I went with greek potatoes and rice as my sides. I did feel like they use a lot of cooking oil which is what took a star off for me. I was a huge fan of this place when they first opened. I would go there from time to time whenever I had a taste for a gyro as I live close by however the past few times we stopped in for a bite the food was meh. Sometimes we would get a good sandwich and sometimes the meat was dry and hard. Now as of late Skippy's or Yorkie's has been my go to for Gyros as their food is always phenomenal, we like consistency in our restaurants but again I live close by and don't always want to take the drive, hence today Taste had to suffice. I ordered two gyros at the cost of almost $30 and sat down and patiently waited for my food. While sitting there, I took note of how the atmosphere had changed in there since they installed their slot machines. You have the typical Greek restaurant owner sitting down by the front door, eating his food watching over his cash register. Today like the past few times we have been there. The cashier looks at you in disgust when you don't add a tip to the meal when paying for your food. Anyway, I was given my food and upon exiting, I remembered how dry the last sandwich we had was and asked for extra Greek sauce. The cashier bags it and then tries to charge me $2 for it. I had mentioned to her that I had never been charged before for extra sauce. That's when she called the Greek manager over who was sitting by the door, on his phone casually eating his food. He proceeds to tell me that they always charge for extra sauce and that his employees probably forgot to charge me in the past. Totally oblivious that I just dumped $30 for two sandwiches! I wasn't going to argue with him. I just left, but had it in my mind that I was never going to return. Upon consuming the food with my wife, my suspicions came to fruition The gyro's meat was dry and almost inedible! To be truthful, I can't see how this place is still in business. My entire family loves Taste. We have visited Greece and the wraps are very authentic to what you get in Greece. My favorite item is the Grilled Chicken Pita. The chicken is hot off the grill, taste sauce is good and I love the it comes stuffed with a few fries just like in Greece! My family also really likes the chicken gyros and pork chop platter. We also enjoy picking up items like Greek Honey or Caprice cookies when they have them. On my last visit I had a Mythos which took me right back to sitting on the beach on the Greek Islands. I enjoy the decor as well. My only gripe is still the seating. We are a family of bad backs and sitting at the picnic table benches is incredibly uncomfortable for us. We stopped here for a quick bite to eat in and overall really liked the restaurant itself and the food was great. We have a greek salad with grilled chicken, a falafel plate, and a side skewer of chicken souvlaki. The salad was excellent, very fresh and great quality produce! The grilled chicken was juicy and well seasoned, we loved the skewer and the breast meat chunks in the salad. The falafel was good, but VERY heavily seasoned with black pepper to the point it was off putting but edible. I would like to ho back and try thecdalafel again though it seemed like maybe just a heavy hand that day type of thing. The rice was EXCELLENT! Went there the other day ordered two gyros, two fries,and two drinks and it was over $44 way too expensive for dried out gyros( the meat was dry with absolutely no moisture terrible). And extremely skimpy with the tomatoes and onions in the sandwich which could have made the dry meat a little more acceptable if there was more of that. Stopped here with a friend for lunch. Both ordered Gyros. I had traditional, my friend had pork. Both came with some big fries wrapped up in it. I did not like them and pulled them out. The gyro wrap was nothing special and the tzatziki sauce was bland. My friend who is from Greece had the same take on their wrap. Wasn't terrible but no reason to go out of your way. We decided to come here. I was surprised to see that it was in the same plaza as Katy's Dumplings and Dough Daddy's pizza. You can park from either side as there is ample parking all around including the Jewel parking lot. Plenty of places to sit. Service was very friendly and helpful. We ordered a combo plate (classic and pork gyros with Greek potatoes), pork gyros with Greek potatoes, and tyropita. Prices are fair since the portions are very generous. Pita bread was slightly too chewy but only at the end of it. Classic and pork gyros were both palatable. Greek potatoes were good, it could have used a bit more seasoning. The tyropita was flaky and very cheesy. It's worth getting. You won't go hungry here. read more

Delicious food! I had chicken souvlaki plate with a small Greek salad. Dude had gyros with feta fries. There was an up charge for the added feta and other stuff, but the price was worth every cent. The fries tasted amazing. It's a cute place for sit in or take out. The building is on its own in the parking lot near Jewel foods. There are cute picnic tables and wild hanging rope chandeliers. This place serves up honest and consistent quality of food. We dine at this place at least 2-3 times a month and drive almost 45 mins for their gyro pork platter. We went to the grocery store nearby and gave this place a try. They had three parking spots reserved for pickup orders; there is a QR code on each spot, and you can order from your car on your phone. When we walked into the restaurant, we were greater by a rustic beachy vibe. All of the tables had long backless picnic benches, and the large hightop table had back stools. All of us are over 60 and had trouble getting in and out of the benches and would appreciate a traditional chair option. The menu is extensive and only over the counter. We were standing there for a few minutes and had questions. My friend said he felt rushed by he counter staff. There were three other tables there, but the restaurant did not seem busy. We got our food and found huge portions. They use red onion at this lace, and other gyro stands in Chicago I have been to use white onion, but it did not deter from the sandwich. The gyro platter had 1/2 pound of meat, plenty of onion slices and half of a large tomato, sliced. I had the pork gyro; I found it vary salty. I am not sure if the pork gyro was the same as the pork belly gyro featured as on Tuesdays for $8. Two of my other friends had the chicken gyro. We had to ask because they also had a grilled chicken pita. The difference is that the grilled chicken pita is a chicken breast on the char grill, and the chicken gyro is white and dark meat cooked on a spigot. Again, there is a huge amount of food. On the chicken gyro, surprisingly, the sandwich had two fries inside, both chicken Gyros and my pork gyro had two fried potatoes each. I also had a grilled bone-in pork chop that was delicious and for $4.50, well worth it as an add-on. We all felt it as worthy of a second visit. read more

Came in for a Classic Chicago Gyro Pita with a work colleague and we thought the meal was OK. Some of my dissatisfaction with this meal was tied to the price: $15.06 is a little too much for a gyro and a soda, with a few fries tucked into the sandwich. I really like the space, though; it's nice and big in here, which felt luxurious for a fast-casual restaurant like Taste. The service was fast and friendly, so no issues there, either. We've ordered delivery from here and loved it. We shortly became loyal customers. So one day when I was running errands, I ran into it! I was ecstatic so I hopped right in. And then I was disillusioned. No hi, no welcome. Nothing. Staff at the counter just stared at me. Customer service is pretty terrible. I was bummed because I loved this place so much but I felt like I was doing them a service and felt uncomfortable with the unfriendly vibe. There was a tall guy who got my order ready, who was friendly but certainly not the guy at the counter. But it didn't stop there. I gave them another shot a month later. Unfortunately, again, I was met with such a stand off attitude from another employee. The last chance we gave them was a few weeks ago when we ordered delivery. There was clearly an error when we ordered at 2:30 pm and an hour passed and we still hadn't received our delivery. My husband called the restaurant and they said our order was on the way. No apology, nothing. Again, no surprise there bc of my previous experiences. We ended up getting our food 2 hours later and it was alright. I looked on the receipt and our order had the time stamp of 3:30 pm when my husband had called and they said it was on the way. So it was clear that a mishap had happened. Anyway, there's too many instances of poor service that it ruins the experience of me even going there. It's too bad because I liked their food. We visited some Halloween decorated houses and decided to stop by for the first time for some Greek Street food. The place was really cute and I like the benches for the indoor dining. It's self serve so you kind of pick a place to sit down and eat. The bathroom was clean and I like the decorations inside. I've only taken away 1 star because it was really stuffy from the ventilation. The smoke from the grill was very strong and gave me a headache because the ventilation was not strong enough. But other than that, everything was very good. We ordered the grilled plate with pork chop, pita bread, pork souvlaki and a spinach spanakopita and since I love Greek food, it was delicious. My little boy got a cheeseburger and fries which he said was good. I wish I tried the wrap which is what I will order if I ever go back. It was a good experience but since I'm very sensitive to smell, maybe I'll order it to go next time but we decided to eat there for the fresh food out of the grill experience which did not disappoint. My Boss has been raving about this New place in Bensenville IL. On Foster and Elmhurst rd. The Place looks very NICE! A group of 5 coworkers tried it today, we placed $80. Order for pick up. Pretty much, we were all dissapointed! The Seasoned Fries are fantastic! The meats are cooked fresh, but we ALL agreed the flavor was very bland / plain as in absolutely No Taste of Seasonings!? We stopped by on our way out of townafter a weekend road trip to Chicago. This place has authentic and quality Mediterranean food. We tried a gyro salad, lamb gyro platter, and a lamb gyro sandwich. The food is not very good here but the real reason for my low review is because of the staff. Specifically an older lady who works the front counter who is very standoffish and unpleasant. I ordered a gyro with the meat well done and she looked at me like I just asked her to go get a lamb off a farm and start the process from scratch. They provide no table service but want tips at the register. The minimum tip at the register is 18% with the hidden cancel button. 18% for what, plastic utensils and paper towel rolls on the table for napkins, when your food is ready they do not even bring it to the table. My boyfriend and I came on a Tuesday night and ordered the Pork Belly Gyro Pita and the Falafel Pita which was a perfect amount of food for only $6 each, for a total of $13 including tax. There is plenty of parking around the restaurant, and it's a fast casual style, where you order up front and you pick up the food from the front when it is ready. The decor inside is nice, and the bathrooms were clean. In the center is the location to get utensils and water. The last time i was here was about a year ago, and had the gyros sandwich, it was pretty good but a little light on meat and heavy on the fries. This time a round I opted for the gyros platter with vegetables. Well to my dismay the gyros was super dry and over cooked to the point of being crunchy. The vegetables were soggy, and very oily. The pita didn't leave much to be desired either. The best part of my meal were the onions and tomato which seemed to be fresh sliced. Perhaps choosing the gyros was a bad call on my part, but come on how do you not have better quality control. My meal was roughly $20, and I threw more than half of it away.
