Very bummed to write this. Ordered two pizzas on Saturday. A margarita and a mushroom onion. Asked for pie cut. The margarita was not pie cut but the mushroom onion was. Both were way overdone. The mushroom and onion was burnt. We usually have great luck there but never got the thin crust. Maybe that is why. My son ordered the fettuccine with chicken and broccoli and that was tasty. When pizzas cost close to 30 bucks a pop they have to be at least cooked right. read more

Expired bottled drinks, manager laughed about it saying he knew about it and said the drinks in the front and in the back were expired (he said this where we could hear him!). This was after we were given extremely watered down fountain drinks and we had to ask for the bottled drinks. On 05/19/25, during my road trip from Lapeer, MI to Marion, IL, I planned a stop at the Giordano's in Matteson, IL to pick up frozen pies. I had found the location via Google and saw it was just off my last interstate turn--perfect for a quick pickup. However, when I arrived the next morning (05/20/25), I was surprised to see a sign indicating the location was temporarily closed and would reopen on 05/22/25. Understandably disappointed, I was trying to figure out my next move when I noticed a gentleman removing stickers from the windows of the old location. I approached him and explained that Google had listed the store as opening at 11:30, and I had a specific order to fulfill for my sister's family in Marion (for that night's dinner) and for my family in Northwest Arkansas. Without hesitation, he got on the phone with Ladaris, the store's GM, at the new location to check their frozen pie inventory. Thanks to his incredible responsiveness and kindness, I was directed just a block away to the new location--where I was given six complementary frozen pies. That's right: SIX complementary pies, no questions asked. As someone who usually hops from one pizza place to another when in Chicago, this experience changed everything for me. From now on, Giordano's is my only stop for pizza. If you're ever near Matteson, I highly recommend stopping by this location. The level of customer service here is truly unmatched--and they've certainly earned a lifelong customer. read more

I was in Chicago on business for a few days and the day I left, I just called the restaurant to see if I could possibly take a couple frozen pizzas home with me to St. Louis. I went to the Downers Grove location and the owner hooked me right up. Great experience and felt like I was one of his regular customers as he was very very nice. I look forward to taking my family up north soon and will definitely visit the Downers Grove location. read more

This was my first time getting a thin-crust pizza at giordanos! We got the super veggie pizza which has spinach, mushrooms, olives (we swapped for avocado), and garlic. The staff were really nice and we waited about 25 mins or so for our pizza which is pretty standard. I think our pizza specifically could've had a bit more sauce as there was much more cheese and toppings so the ratio was a bit off. Overall, it was just ok but I'd stick to the deep dish here. read more

I read the reviews. Here's what you need to know: if you want the deep dish Chicago style pizza you need to know it takes a while to prep and cook (20-40min). Understanding this will keep you from being frustrated over a long wait. I ordered a small deep dish of their house specialty and it was amazing! Ingredients were fresh and the crust is both crispy and flaky on the outside and doughy inside. (Pics below) I love non-chain local food and the ambience of this place is exactly that. Coming in from out of town I felt like I got a good experience of a local Chicago pizzeria. I highly recommend just make sure you're not in a hurry and if you are don't order the deep dish Chicago style pizza. If it's busy, just understand that the staff is going to serve you as quickly as possible... order a salad or an appetizer sit back relax and enjoy it! read more

Giordano's was a great experience. The ambiance was warm and cozy, it looked very welcoming. They looked understaffed, though it was just after Christmas. Amazing service, asked me if I wanted the pizza cut, which I did! Perfect taste as always, the wings I ordered were great I love their bbq sauces, and their Calabrian salad is to die for, perfect sweetness and like crunch. The music of the restaurant was basic, the old dad rock is a nice thing to hear in a sea of Sabrina carpenter and what ever garbage is on the radio. Would recommend going back! read more

Every time I am in Chicago whether it be for a short layover or to spend multiple days here, I always get Giordano's. I recently discovered the personal sized deep dish which is just enough to satisfy my craving of true Chicago style pizza. Today I also tried the brownie bites dessert, and I was not disappointed! Service was very slow it took 35 minutes to get our appetizer and when we got it it had been sitting under the hot lamp for about 10-15 minutes it's was cold and stale. Honestly killed my date night. Ambiance was alright honestly just a bad experience and management and my server did nothing to improve it. The deep dish pizza at the downers grove location has gone downhill. For 3 times in a row, they made a pizza with giant size hamburger paddies under the sauce. If I wanted a hamburger, I would have ordered from five guys. The manager attributed this to "everyone has different size hands so the sausage is sometimes larger than it should be" and followed up with "and it's laziness". Here's an idea: maybe have a nickel in front of the pizza makers and say "sausage no larger than a nickel" and if they do not follow orders, fire them. Our crust also tasted like it was pre-made and we received someone's cancelled order that they heated up. Done with this joint read more

I always loved Giordanos, and actually preferred it to Lous because it was so much thicker and had so much more cheese on it. Didnt even mind how much more money it cost. But after this pathetic excuse for a deep dish pizza showed up at my door i dont think i will be splurging and spending the extra for a so obviously inferior product anymore. Any local pizza place offering deep dish pizza is better than this skimpy lame pizza i got. Over 60 dollars for a pizza and cold cheese sticks, and "cheesy garlic bread" which was actually a paper thin hard flatbread with cheese on it. The "deep dish pizza averaged about a half an inch thick, with some of the thicker parts almost an inch thick. This pizza used to be so thick and cheesy you could choke on it. This is thinner than most places thin crust. Management should be ashamed of this product theyre putting out. Especially during these times, to have someone pay for a premium product to keep a place in business. This was a huge disappointment read more

Bob and his staff have 0 percent competency and the same for customer service. They rudely told me that the customer is not right, and Bob is a "Richard" for short, Di**", I asked are you afraid of losing a customer over $20 dollars and if he didn't rectify the issue, I would cancel my order and goto Willowbrook IL. He said "do what you want" I said I would and I would contact corporate, so here is the post I made on FB, and I will also put this on Yelp. "Never order from the Gidarnos in Downers Grove off Main street. I placed an online delivery that should have been delivered to my house at 3:55-4:05, and I called at 4:50 asking where my pizza is, and they said it was for pick up. Their manager "Bob" got on the line, and we went back and forth. I was like no, I am not going to be delivered the same pizza for 45 mins it was ready, and then wait, and wait another 15-20 mins, that was what I want to pay. It was a 20 dollar pizza that was refunded. I was like I want a cheezy, gooey WARM pizza, and I don't care where the screwup happened, I want a fresh pizza. For 5 mins, he said it was my mistake and refused to make the situation right. Ok, I know I put my address in their online system and blamed it on me. Fuck that, I asked him, isn't the customer always right? "No, Zack made the mistake". I let him know I was getting frustrated w him, and I asked, are you afraid to have a $20 dollar shrinkage? Yes, I am he says. I told him, I'm ready to cancel my order and order from another place. He was like "go ahead", I got even more pissed, and let him know if he didn't fix this, I would call corporate and complain. He's like "Go ahead. The order is canceled. I have waited 2 hours for delivery. Again asking "Isn't the customer always right?", Bob says well sometimes it doesn't work that way, it was Zack Pelkas mistake for the order, and it was changed to pick up. Fuck, that fucker and his store, never using them, and reporting to corporate how their entire staff including Bob. Done. Don't fuck w me." read more

Fantastic experience at Giordarno's. Was surprised to find that this is a downtown suburb location without any dedicated parking, so be prepared to drive around for a little bit and find a good parking spot. On the bright side, if you're coming during the day, most of the cute nearby shops will be open and you'll be able to enjoy some cute shopping along with lunch. You can call and put in a pre-order for a pizza before you leave the house if you're getting deep dish. As deep dish tends to take awhile to cook (an hour isn't unreasonable), I'd recommend putting in that order before you leave the house. Once you get seated, you just let them know you pre-ordered a pizza and bam! You're good to go. Maybe because it's in a cute little shopping area, this Giordano's is relatively small. I'd say it probably only has 25 to 30 tables max. On a Wednesday night, it was nice and chill - even during dinnertime - but you might want to check their Google business page to see how estimatedly active the business is that night if you're hoping for a quick table. Once we were seated, their employees were super friendly and nice. We mostly dealt with our server - who was really nice and made an effort to use our names after payment and checking ID. He checked in often, brought stuff out very promptly, and was all-around pleasant and very efficient. It was a fantastic service experience. The pizza is itself is definitely the deep dish that it claims to be. Lots and lots of melty cheese, some good tomato sauce, and then whatever toppings you had in mind. I'm honestly not super fond of their crust, though, and that's the reason for the 4 stars. Maybe it's just the way Gio's makes it or maybe that's just how they were baking that night, but the crust felt like a thin crust type of pizza crust. Very crunchy and very thin - it just happened to have lots of toppings piled on top of it. I think I was expecting a more plushy, soft crust to go with the thickness of the pizza. But my expectations might have been wrong on this one. Still, very good pizza and a very positive experience all-around. :) read more

Pizza is good and my kids like their thin crust too but delivery has been a problem lately. Today is the 3rd time our delivery has taken over an hour and a half. Mind you, this is for a large thin crust and 2 kid cheese pizzas. My wife ordered Papa John's because she couldn't wait any longer and IT CAME FASTER THAN OUR GIORDANOS ORDER! Called the store and was told the standard "it will be there in 10 to 15 mins. We live 10 mins away from the store so when I offered to drive there and pick it up since I had hungry kids to feed, she told me it had already left. As I write this, the order still isn't here. read more

Honestly super disappointed with this place and the awful service. Waited 45 minutes to pick up a pizza and when finally arriving to pick it up the lady at the front desk (not wearing gloves) dropped it on the floor. Having to wait an additional 25 minutes with no water being brought to us by the very ignorant and entitled servers was something I didn't think I thought I'd have to deal with. read more

I From western New York where deep dish pizza isn't even a thing. Naturally whenever I travel to Chicago I have to get one. I've tried all of the best in Chicago and I prefer Giordano's. I got a personal this time with pepperoni, mushrooms and green peppers. A personal is less than 1/2 the price as a small and a small is absolutely too much for one person. The pizza, as always, was amazing. Now for the service. Way below the bar for Giordano's. It wasn't busy, maybe 6 tables in use. I ordered a local beer. My waiter asked me if I would like another and I didn't even have my first one yet. It took 1/2 hour to get a beer! I attribute it to the staff (all) joking around in the kitchen. C'mon people, you are representing a major local business, take some pride in it. The location is great. Downers Grove is a quaint suburb of Chicago and gets you away from the hustle and bustle. A Hallmark movie could easily be filmed in this town. Guys, great date place. If you get there after 3 pm parking is free in the ramp a couple blocks away. Would I go back? YES. YESSSSSS. GIORDANO'S, YOU DELIVERED ALL MY DEEP DISH PIZZA DREAMS. I visited Giordano's with 2 friends in search of some authentic deep-dish pizza on a recent trip to Chicago. Let me tell you, this place delivered. The pizza was flawlessly Chicago... a rich tomato flavor, oodles of cheese, baked perfectly, and a crust so thick it looked like a cake. It's the crave-worthy type of pizza I could order over and over. We split the calamari appetizer, entree salad, and two pizzas: traditional deep dish and a thin crust tomato/artichoke pizza. This was basically akin to a small feast, but I've never felt so satisfied with a meal in my entire life. When you cut a piece of the deep-dish pizza, the cheese overflowed onto your plate in all its glory. The thin crust pizza was just OK, but I think the strong suit here is truly the deep dish. Great experience overall. I hear that Giordano's sells and ships frozen deep-dish pizzas. I'm tempted enough to consider this! read more

Easily the worst location in the suburbs. Ordered online several hours in advance, arrived at the selected time and was told the food wasn't ready yet with no time estimate as to when it would be ready. Nothing but lousy excuses about being busy from the staff. We had to leave and come back due to pick up the kids from daycare, and finally received a call the food was ready nearly an hour later. Worse yet, the food was barely hot when it was picked up and had to be microwaved when we got home. Will not be returning to this location again. Would give zero stars if possible. read more

Giordano's - Parmesan garlic fries - Pizza Near Me - Downers Grove, Illinois

I ate a Giordano's the last day of my stay in Downers Grove. BTW, I swear this warm weather is following me. Its rather warm in Chicago...go figure. Anyway, this particular Giordano's was located in what looked like an old town section of Downers Grove. On a Friday, it was surprisingly slow at lunchtime. We got a small order of spaghetti with meatballs and a medium 10" special stuffed pizza. The spaghetti was very typical, nothing fancy or special about it. The pizza came about 20 minutes later. Man! I love Chicago stuffed pizza. Its so full and substantial. The assembly is much more complex than the typical super flat pizza. The components are relatively the same. BUT the overall feel to eating it is entirely different. The ingredients were awesomely fresh. The vegetables still had their crunch to it. The mozzarella was just like its suppose to be: ooozing out everywhere. It was so stringy that it stretched a like 2 feet before we decided to cut it. The only gripe that I have about Giordano's is the crust. With deep dish pizzas I like a super buttery crust that flakes like no other. I hear that Lou Malnati's is where this lovely crust can be found. Other than that, Giordano's was a great experience IMO. I think we got lucky with the date and time of our attendance...based on the other views it doesn't look like this place is normally empty. The staff I had were plenty competent and attentive. Maybe the others got fired. read more

3.5 to 4 stars To conclude my Chicago trip, I ate Giordano's pizza! Finally some stuffed pizza :) While the physical appearance of the pizza didn't make my mouth water, the ingredients inside DID. My brother chose the small cheese with two ingredients: sausages & tomatoes. The tomatoes were on top of the pizza, while the sausage was under or mixed in with the stuffed cheese. It was pretty good :) Although it's the first legit Chicago pizza I've tried, in my book, it was pretty good. They have interesting packaging for their red pepper! however, after two slices, the pizza can get tiring to eat, just because it's sooo stuffed & not your average Pizza Hut pizza, where you can scarf down 4 slices, easily. But stuffed is good. Giordano's is good. Don't judge the pizza until you've tried it. I'll be back Illinois to try some more of your yummy pizzerias. read more

I'm here visiting family from NJ and every time I make a trip to the Chicago area I NEED giordano's pizza. Everything about the pizza is wonderful. My family and I always get the super veggie pizza. Being a tourist in Chicago, I HAD to try a deep dish pizza before I left. Everyone has their own opinions of what the best deep dish pizza is in Chicago, but I had read about Giordano's in a few "best" lists and it was close to my hotel. So, by default, Giordano's was my first Chicago deep dish experience for the trip. The deep dish pizza was thick! The crust was perfectly crispy, the cheese was super gooey, and the meat was moist and tender. Delicious! It does take about 45 minutes to bake the deep dish pizza though, and they warn you of the time before you order. It is definitely worth the wait! Service was great and the drink refills kept coming. We all left stuffed, happy, and with leftovers to spare. They sell frozen pizzas at the entrance so you can buy some and bake it later or even transport it on a short flight.
