Very bummed to write this. Ordered two pizzas on Saturday. A margarita and a mushroom onion. Asked for pie cut. The margarita was not pie cut but the mushroom onion was. Both were way overdone. The mushroom and onion was burnt. We usually have great luck there but never got the thin crust. Maybe that is why. My son ordered the fettuccine with chicken and broccoli and that was tasty. On 05/19/25, during my road trip from Lapeer, MI to Marion, IL, I planned a stop at the Giordano's in Matteson, IL to pick up frozen pies. I had found the location via Google and saw it was just off my last interstate turn--perfect for a quick pickup. However, when I arrived the next morning (05/20/25), I was surprised to see a sign indicating the location was temporarily closed and would reopen on 05/22/25. Understandably disappointed, I was trying to figure out my next move when I noticed a gentleman removing stickers from the windows of the old location. I approached him and explained that Google had listed the store as opening at 11:30, and I had a specific order to fulfill for my sister's family in Marion (for that night's dinner) and for my family in Northwest Arkansas. Without hesitation, he got on the phone with Ladaris, the store's GM, at the new location to check their frozen pie inventory. Thanks to his incredible responsiveness and kindness, I was directed just a block away to the new location--where I was given six complementary frozen pies. That's right: SIX complementary pies, no questions asked. As someone who usually hops from one pizza place to another when in Chicago, this experience changed everything for me. From now on, Giordano's is my only stop for pizza. If you're ever near Matteson, I highly recommend stopping by this location. This was my first time getting a thin-crust pizza at giordanos! We got the super veggie pizza which has spinach, mushrooms, olives (we swapped for avocado), and garlic. The staff were really nice and we waited about 25 mins or so for our pizza which is pretty standard. I think our pizza specifically could've had a bit more sauce as there was much more cheese and toppings so the ratio was a bit off. Overall, it was just ok but I'd stick to the deep dish here. read more

Perfect taste as always, the wings I ordered were great I love their bbq sauces, and their Calabrian salad is to die for, perfect sweetness and like crunch. If I wanted a hamburger, I would have ordered from five guys. Any local pizza place offering deep dish pizza is better than this skimpy lame pizza i got. Over 60 dollars for a pizza and cold cheese sticks, and "cheesy garlic bread" which was actually a paper thin hard flatbread with cheese on it. The "deep dish pizza averaged about a half an inch thick, with some of the thicker parts almost an inch thick. This pizza used to be so thick and cheesy you could choke on it. Fantastic experience at Giordarno's. Was surprised to find that this is a downtown suburb location without any dedicated parking, so be prepared to drive around for a little bit and find a good parking spot. On the bright side, if you're coming during the day, most of the cute nearby shops will be open and you'll be able to enjoy some cute shopping along with lunch. You can call and put in a pre-order for a pizza before you leave the house if you're getting deep dish. As deep dish tends to take awhile to cook (an hour isn't unreasonable), I'd recommend putting in that order before you leave the house. Once you get seated, you just let them know you pre-ordered a pizza and bam! You're good to go. Maybe because it's in a cute little shopping area, this Giordano's is relatively small. I'd say it probably only has 25 to 30 tables max. On a Wednesday night, it was nice and chill - even during dinnertime - but you might want to check their Google business page to see how estimatedly active the business is that night if you're hoping for a quick table. Once we were seated, their employees were super friendly and nice. We mostly dealt with our server - who was really nice and made an effort to use our names after payment and checking ID. He checked in often, brought stuff out very promptly, and was all-around pleasant and very efficient. It was a fantastic service experience. The pizza is itself is definitely the deep dish that it claims to be. Lots and lots of melty cheese, some good tomato sauce, and then whatever toppings you had in mind. I'm honestly not super fond of their crust, though, and that's the reason for the 4 stars. Maybe it's just the way Gio's makes it or maybe that's just how they were baking that night, but the crust felt like a thin crust type of pizza crust. My waiter asked me if I would like another and I didn't even have my first one yet. It took 1/2 hour to get a beer! I attribute it to the staff (all) joking around in the kitchen. C'mon people, you are representing a major local business, take some pride in it. The location is great. Downers Grove is a quaint suburb of Chicago and gets you away from the hustle and bustle. A Hallmark movie could easily be filmed in this town. Guys, great date place. If you get there after 3 pm parking is free in the ramp a couple blocks away. Would I go back? Let me tell you, this place delivered. The pizza was flawlessly Chicago... a rich tomato flavor, oodles of cheese, baked perfectly, and a crust so thick it looked like a cake. It's the crave-worthy type of pizza I could order over and over. We split the calamari appetizer, entree salad, and two pizzas: traditional deep dish and a thin crust tomato/artichoke pizza. This was basically akin to a small feast, but I've never felt so satisfied with a meal in my entire life. When you cut a piece of the deep-dish pizza, the cheese overflowed onto your plate in all its glory. The thin crust pizza was just OK, but I think the strong suit here is truly the deep dish. Ordered online several hours in advance, arrived at the selected time and was told the food wasn't ready yet with no time estimate as to when it would be ready. Nothing but lousy excuses about being busy from the staff. We had to leave and come back due to pick up the kids from daycare, and finally received a call the food was ready nearly an hour later. Came to this location during lunch time with co-workers and was very pleased. They have a very decently priced lunch menu that is quite satisfying. The service was great as well - the wait staff had no issues with preparing our food before we arrived so that we did not have to feel pressured to eat fast in order to get back from lunch on time. I ate a Giordano's the last day of my stay in Downers Grove. BTW, I swear this warm weather is following me. Its rather warm in Chicago...go figure. Anyway, this particular Giordano's was located in what looked like an old town section of Downers Grove. On a Friday, it was surprisingly slow at lunchtime. We got a small order of spaghetti with meatballs and a medium 10" special stuffed pizza. The spaghetti was very typical, nothing fancy or special about it. The pizza came about 20 minutes later. Man! I love Chicago stuffed pizza. Its so full and substantial. The assembly is much more complex than the typical super flat pizza. The components are relatively the same. BUT the overall feel to eating it is entirely different. The ingredients were awesomely fresh. The vegetables still had their crunch to it. The mozzarella was just like its suppose to be: ooozing out everywhere. It was so stringy that it stretched a like 2 feet before we decided to cut it. The only gripe that I have about Giordano's is the crust. With deep dish pizzas I like a super buttery crust that flakes like no other. I hear that Lou Malnati's is where this lovely crust can be found. Other than that, Giordano's was a great experience IMO. I think we got lucky with the date and time of our attendance...based on the other views it doesn't look like this place is normally empty. The staff I had were plenty competent and attentive. 3.5 to 4 stars To conclude my Chicago trip, I ate Giordano's pizza! Finally some stuffed pizza :) While the physical appearance of the pizza didn't make my mouth water, the ingredients inside DID. My brother chose the small cheese with two ingredients: sausages & tomatoes. The tomatoes were on top of the pizza, while the sausage was under or mixed in with the stuffed cheese. It was pretty good :) Although it's the first legit Chicago pizza I've tried, in my book, it was pretty good. They have interesting packaging for their red pepper! however, after two slices, the pizza can get tiring to eat, just because it's sooo stuffed & not your average Pizza Hut pizza, where you can scarf down 4 slices, easily. But stuffed is good. Giordano's is good. Don't judge the pizza until you've tried it. I'll be back Illinois to try some more of your yummy pizzerias. read more

Arrived at Giordano's at 6:30 on Friday in July. Great atmosphere outside as the Friday night car show was in full swing up and around Main Street. We waited 5 minutes to get a table for 4. Not a large setup but certainly sufficient and with red and white checkered tablecloths in case the rest of the decor didn't remind you sufficiently that this was an Italian joint. We were seated at a window and greeted quickly by our server, Frankie, who was pleasant and helpful. Everyone ordered drinks and we asked for some guidance about how to order a deep dish pizza (our first!). Frankie was very helpful and made sure we knew that the pizza would take about an hour - one of the drawbacks to deep dish done properly. We were ok with this and ordered a pepperoni pizza with half sausage and half mushrooms. This is not a huge location but it was busy and electric. I can't compare it to other Giordano's because I've never been. The buzz in the air was always present but never ridiculously loud like it gets at steak and shake. Seemed perfectly reasonable and conversation around the table while we tried to decide on a pizza was comfortable and easy While we ordered a "create your own" pizza, there were lots of house speciality pizza options on the menu; all available as either deep dish or thin crust. Other options on the menu included meatball subs, lots of Italian sandwiches, lasagna and fettuccine. Prices are reasonable given the popularity of Giordano's in the Chicago area. Given the long wait for our deep dish we ordered a house specialty - cheesy garlic bread. Bruschetta was also marked as a house speciality. But the garlic bread appealed most to us today. 'Very cheesy' and 'some garlic' is my pronouncement. It arrived quickly and, frankly, was delicious even if it wasn't as garlic was I'd prefer. There were 8 slices; each slightly larger than a finger. It's not a big order to share amongst four hungry family members but it tied us over alright until the pizza arrived. The deep dish finally arrived exactly 50mins after we ordered it. Note that I do not claim to be a deep dish expert but I've eaten my fair share...check that..MORE than my fair share of pizza over the years. The pizza was deep and red and cheesy and hot. The cheese stretched amazingly long when the pie was hot but as we got to our second slice was less so. That's ok and expected. I was really surprised at the taste of the pizza. I'm not exactly sure why, but to be honest I wasn't expecting to like it very much. I think I was expecting to be overwhelmed by the sauce. I was so happy that my first bite was a huge face full of pizza that tasted like a whole lot of pizzalicious goodness! It truly tasted like a massive slice of pizza! I shouldn't be surprised but I was. The flavors were so well balanced within the pie that no one ingredient stood out more than it should or took over my tastebuds. And I say this as a good thing. Given the copious amount of each ingredient I could identify and taste each but they were so well proportioned that there was aimply medley of flavors having a pizza party in my mouth. Truly delicious. What about the crust you ask? Of course you do! It was firm and crunchy but not too much so. It was also light and airy. I was amazed that the crust under the pie easily supported the toppings and I could easily pick up a slice and have a bite - just like a thin crust. I think I expected the crust underneath to be soggy and non-supportive of all the toppings and moisture on top of it. To be fair and transparent I'm not a huge fan of the crust on pizza most of the time. Though I think that's largely because lots of places use extra crust and not enough toppings. The ratio is off and I find myself eating a hunk of airy chewy bread at the end of every slice. Not the case at Giordano's! I ate all the crust even the extra tall bit at the end of the pizza that encircles the dish. I have to comment on the tomato sauce. Not sure there were hunks of tomato in it but it was sweet with just the right amount of acidity. Amazingly delicious and not overpowering whatsoever. Bottom line...? My first deep dish pizza was one to be remembered and certainly one I'd happily have again. Definitely at Giordano's! Five stars! First time I've given 5 stars on a yelp review. I can't think of anything that the service staff or the restaurant could have done better. My last thought is that this location was excellent. It wasn't as busy with tourists etc. as the places right in the city are but you get all the same benefits of eating at the world's famous Giordano's. I hope you enjoy as much as I did. read more

I'm here visiting family from NJ and every time I make a trip to the Chicago area I NEED giordano's pizza. Everything about the pizza is wonderful. My family and I always get the super veggie pizza. There's so much cheese and almost 10 vegetable toppings/stuffings! This place has never disappointed me yet! Minus the part where I feel like I'm going to explode because I overeat the pizza. He took our order right away and got the drinks and appetizer out right away. He even brought my dad another soda when his original one was down to the bottom 1/4th--we didn't even need to ask!
