We arrived at 6:30p on a Friday night. The place was packed, mostly with families with kids. There was a family sitting in the parking lot eating out of the back of their truck. In retrospect I get it. You order at the counter then seat yourself. The dining are was loud, even at a tall table in the corner conversation was difficult. The staff was attentive asking us if we needed anything, other than our food...no. My friend ordered the "white pizza" that has WAY too much garlic. I had my standard sausage/mushroom/cheese. Not over garlic, but unremarkable. If we return it would be carry out, but I doubt that is going to happen. read more

Fantastic!!! My husband and I have been wanting to stop and now that we finally have.... We'll be stopping all the time!! We were greeted by two darling, friendly girls who helped us make our selections. The pizza was delicious! The crust!!!! Soft and chewy while crispy on the edges just like Neapolitan pizza should be. Visited this restaurant after a lot of hype from the instagram. The place is cozy, bright and had comfortable seating. It's family friendly. The staffs were polite and the service was pretty quick. As vegetarians, we ordered their special on the menu. It was a focaccia served with bruschetta tomatoes and spinach and artichoke dip ( sorry didn't exactly remember the item name as it was on their specials ) The bread was outstanding and so are the accompaniments. Fun atmosphere! Nice outdoor seating but odd location on a busy loud street. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. You can see them cook the pizza and they did a great job interacting with kids. They give kids dough balls to play with while they wait but they didn't give my kid one. He would have loved it so it was kind of a bummer when they did that for another table but didn't offer one for our table. Our food came out so there was no point of asking. It would have just been nice to do for both kids tables. The pizza was really good but very thin. Given this, it wasn't very filling. My husband ended up getting a second dinner afterwards somewhere else. What a wonderful adventure. Stopped by this cute little place and the establishment did not disappoint. The staff is friendly and welcoming and clean! My daughter enjoyed sitting at the counter watching the pro's roll out dough and build pizzas. They offered her a piece of dough and some flour to get creative. She worked with it the whole time we were there . Food wise it was delicious and fresh, they told me they even make their own cheese, that's pretty cool! Lantern Pizza is lit! Not that long ago, the eastern DuPage stretch of Ogden was home to some great brick oven pizza joints. Woodgrain and Cucinova (which was part of Grill 89's restaurant group). Sadly both left. Welcome Lantern pizza!! The execution is PERFECT for this style of pizza. Chewy and just-right charred crust with the perfect blend of fresh mozzarella (gotta use fresh for this type of pizza), sauce, and toppings. Read up on their website on the ingredients they use, you can taste the authenticity. My kids ALWAYS want pepperoni no matter the restaurant so we got one for them. My husband and I tried a plain cheese (the benchmark) and the spinach artichoke ricotta white pizza. The flavors were BANG big and amazing. I loved the caramelized onion on the white pizza. I would recommend both these pizzas. The cheese was honestly so satisfying you wouldn't even need toppings if you didn't want to. The cheese, sauce, and herb blend said it all. The only ingredient missing from the menu was fresh basil. Lovers of this style of pizza might be looking for that. But I could taste it in the sauce, it was heavenly. Not sure if it was because of the onions and mushrooms, or because it was undercooked, or both? Friends, Lantern Pizza is an absolute delight! Gave this gem a try after we heard they were a hit at PizzaFest. We ordered garlic knots and three pizzas: pineapple - bacon pizza, pepperoni (the kind that cups!), and spinach artichoke and then sat outside on the cute patio to enjoy/share. I am usually an anti-pineapple pizza person but after talking with one of the owners, I gave it a try. So. Unbelievably. Good! The salty of the bacon,the hit of sweet with the pineapple and a kiss of some sort of magical drizzle ... c'mon now! Fantastic combination! Each pizza was delicious and we had plenty left to bring home. The service was in a word: superb. Friendly staff made some excellent suggestions (e.g., want to keep the tomato-basil sauce from the garlic knots to dip your pizza crust in? Um, yes please!!), refilled our drinks before we even asked, and brought boxes for all of our leftovers. Add in a lovely chat and a shaded patio that was scrupulously clean and you have a must-try pizza place! We inquired about allergy information (particularly re: peanuts) so we can bring some of our folks here when we come back. Because we are absolutely coming back!
