I personally think Bishop's Cellar would benefit from having a bit more of a description system. Perhaps a little placard with some details: eg: dry, full, organic. These are also excellent for stipulating how wines have placed in wine shows. eg: 91 pts. Whether or not you're a connoisseur you can use these to determine which ones you might be interested in trying. That's as opposed to picking the bottle with the prettiest design/colour combo. (hey, that's what I fall back on) Good local and imported cold beer options too! The absolute selling point of Bishop's Cellar has to be the hours they keep. A beer/wine store that's open until midnight on Friday's and Saturday's as well as holidays has been a saving grace for me on more than one occasion!

Just my bias about 19-year-olds behind the bar. Had the same Stormy Weather cocktail made slightly differently by two different bartenders. Still tasty, but that lack of consistency gave me pause about the staff's experience. All this said...be sure to make this spot a stop on your Halifax boardwalk bar journey!

The wine itself was fabulous but what made it even more enjoyable was our guide, Colleen. She was extremely knowledgeable about the area (Halifax, Gaspereau Valley, and Annapolis Valley) and the wineries. She went above and beyond to make sure that we all enjoyed ourselves, including stopping at an overlook for some quick pics and a farmer's market for some extra snacks. I would highly recommend this tour and would do it again if ever returning to the area.

We came for the annual Christmas in Petite, so it was quite busy and many wines weren't available which was a bummer. It would have been nice to select our own options to sample as there is a cost, so not sure we'll make the trip down from the Valley unless it's another annual event. The terrace is really lovely but the furniture could use some updating. Some cute bistro sets would be nice instead of overly bulky chairs and benches that are tough to move. Service was great and friendly so no complaints there. Overall, still worth visiting for location and the scenery, but as wine drinkers, this is pretty low on our list of faves simply because there wasn't much to try that we were interested in.

As Heather, lovely owner, says "grape is just another fruit". Their award winning Blueberry wine is extremely popular with Maritimers, and while I like it, there are a few others I prefer. Their Honey Moon - doesn't it even sound fantastic - is fermented honey - think Harry Potter or King Arthur and mead. And is it potent, you ask? Well yes indeed. Tastes great with Indian curries and Plowman's lunches. And if either of those don't appeal to you there are strawberry, rhubarb, pear, even kiwis all grown in the Annapolis Valley or on their very own farm.
