Lovely setting and friendly staff. Oysters were just OK. Bread and Hummus OK, expected a bit more flavor in both the bread and Hummus. Tuna tartare was more like chunks of tuna with almost an Asian vinaigrette. Everything was good but nothing we had exceptional. Again, we just stopped for a snack so didn't try some of the main items on the menu like the different pizzas but we saw a lot of people enjoying them.

We came on a Saturday about an hour before close and it was super busy which was great. This place is massive and very trendy so expect a lot of big groups and the student crowd from the university. We don't really have any complaints. The wine was okay, the pizza was pretty good and the service was just alright. I felt bad for our server who seemed to have a lot of tables to deal with and looked exhausted by the end of the night. The hours state they close at 7 pm on Saturdays, but groups kept rolling in so perhaps you can make a booking after hours. This place was just too massive for us to enjoy with lots going on. The boutique was also huge but you could go in and do tastings if you didn't want to sit at a table. Over all, I'd say worth checking out, but nothing to write home about.

Went on the biodynamics private wine tour and it was well worth the cost. The tour guide was very informative and certainly had a passion for wine and the vineyard. The white wines we had were stellar, especially the Chardonnay, and one of the two reds was shockingly delicious for a Nova Scotia red wine, though do not expect old world red. The pizza is some of the best in Nova Scotia and is a delightful pairing with the wines we tasted. This place is not a quick drop in and grab a bite destination, it is a place you plan to spend your afternoon at. Roam the grounds, play washer toss, slow down and smell the beautiful flowers. Lightfoot & Wolfville is a experience not to be missed.

    Surprise proposal

The team at L & W is amazing! I was planning a visit to Nova Scotia with my Girlfriend, and I reached out to L & W to let them know I was planning on proposing to my girlfriend after our wine tasting! Kori - the Events Manager, went above and beyond to make sure the proposal was really special. She helped me reserve a private room and decorated it with flower petals and a bottle of sparkling wine. She then waited in the room and actually filmed the proposal so we have it on video! In addition to all that, Kori offered to take photos of us on the balcony and in the vineyard which was so nice of her. Thank you to the entire team (including Kori, Taylor, and Wynter) for making that day unforgettable. We're excited to come back and celebrate our anniversary someday soon :)

    Barrel room

We went for the Farm Fall Supper which consisted of a 4 course meal in the Barrel room. It was an amazing experience and would do it again if we lived closer. Walking distance from town on a sidewalk except for the last few minutes then you arrive at the vineyard.

Beautiful scenery, decent white wines. Service excellent. However in the words of the waitress, "the chef doesn't mind subtractions, but doesn't like additions". My dad is dairy intolerant and the chef didn't seem too flexible in providing alternatives, therefore, he was served the dough/sauce "pizza" pictured. Great experience, but maybe go with something different if you have dairy sensitivities.

Best wine in Nova Scotia! Organically and biodynamic grown grapes. Tasting menu ever changing so come back again and again. Great for events or to hang with friends all year round!

We've been once before, dining on the patio with friends last summer, but our host suggested dining inside to avoid a buggy spring evening. The quaint interior has the feel of an old world, European restaurant thanks to the stucco-slatgered walls, wood paneling and arches windows which looked out to the stone-paved courtyard. I was drawn to the tasting menu, which at four courses gives you a good chunk of the menu to enjoy, but it isn't a three to four hour commitment like larger tasting menus. At $80 and $35 extra for the estate wine pairing, it felt like a good value too! Up first were the lobster croquettes. The crisp exteriors of the croquettes contrasted sharply against the soft, lightly lobster-y goodness within. A marinated lobster and tomato salad brought some refreshing acidity to the dish as well, and the marinated lobster meat had to have been some of the most tender lobster that I've ever had. Next for me was the fazzoletti. This cut of pasta, named for its form which is similar to a handkerchief, was topped with a tomato and mint "tartare", confit garlic and a whipped cod sauce. The house-made pasta had a great, toothsome texture, although the flavours of its accoutrements were a little flat. The mint didn't really figure, and I'm not sure what a tomato tartare is supposed to be other than some diced tomato? Look, I'm all for fine dining, but sometimes the effort that's put in to punch-up the verbiage on the menu can be eye roll inducing. The whipped cod was creamy and rich, but again, the cod was not prominent at all. While I was gorging, my wife did have her own appetizer, the pan roasted asparagus. The verdant spears of asparagus had a little touch of char from the pan, and they paired well with a creamy burrata, and sweet and tangy relish of cherry tomatoes and lemon. The bright flavours and creamy burrata were a great way to highlight some of early pieces of the harvest. For my main, it was a confit lamb leg adobo. The thick slices of lamb were some of the most tender, succulent lamb I've ever had. I'm a big, big fan of Filipino food, but no flavours of vinegar, soy or garlic really made themselves known here. A smooth potato puree doubled down on the richness, while a mix of crisp kale and pea shoots brought some textural contrast and balanced out the palate. My wife had the gnocchi Parisienne for her main course, which had the pillowy bundles of carbs in a luscious sauce of Grand Pre's L'Acadie Blanc, cream and scallion butter, with an almond crumble for a little crispness. For the last of my four courses, chocolate marquise filled the dessert slot. The decadent slice of chocolate was similar to fudge, but not *quite* that dense, although it was certainly just as rich and indulgent. A pool of crème anglaise added to said indulgence, while ginger cookies brought some crunch and the bite of ginger to cut through it all. The dish with the most "wow" factor was definitely my wife's zeppole. These deep-fried balls of dough were wonderfully crisp on the outside, with moist and pleasantly doughy interiors. Dusted with sugar and nutmeg, they put Timbits to absolute shame. Sorry, not sorry, Canada. It didn't stop there though, as they came with almond ice cream, whipped cream, and a sour cherry compote that had that delicious mix of sweet and tart. I was lucky that it was a generous portion, because I was able to do my husbandly duties and finish off the dish. Service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere is such a unique little getaway. I hold them to a high bar due to reputation, expectation and to be honest, pricing, and while perfection may not have been met, it was still a delicious meal and great experience. There's a reason Le Caveau has been around for so long, and will continue to be for years to come.

We came for a birthday celebration which we were very happy about because Le Caveau doesn't traditionally do winter dinners. They are open during January and February for weekends only. I was sad to learn that they will close in March and April but hopefully that changes in the future as early spring would be awesome here. We chose the 5:00 pm seating (open 5-730 pm currently) and it was a great choice because we were the only ones in the restaurant. Of note, the restaurant is located at The Inn (across the actual restaurant, on the same property) during the winter months. Our server was lovely and let us choose our seats in one of two rooms - the 'kitchen' room or the side dining room. We chose the dining room and that's our only regret; the other room would have allowed us to watch the chef which would have been awesome. We took a while with the menu because we couldn't decide with everything looking so good. The server brought us a birthday drink to toast while we decided which was really nice. While the portions may look small in the photos, choosing one item from each course makes this just perfect. We decided to share a second and if we had each had our own, we agreed we'd be overly full before dessert arrived. Some folks may find this over-priced, but you're paying for quality local ingredients that are made to order as you sit. There are no Sysco products or pre-bottled ingredients in the kitchen. You really get what you pay for while supporting local farmers. Seating is VERY limited so you definitely need reservations. We will definitely be back in the summer to check out the actual restaurant. We would really love to visit when the pergola patio is open because a cocktail or glass of wine with all of the blooms would be just stunning. Skip the garbage fast food for a month and save up to try this place out. You will love the service, quality and the atmosphere.

It was a lovely and warm, late spring evening, but we ate inside since we were on the later side, and there's still a big difference between dining al fresco in June versus July or August. The interior was subtlely decorated with a light sage green paint that paired well with some mirrors and frames that give an art deco vibe, with just a dash of country decor to keep things from getting too pretentious. The menu is compact, but how enticing nearly everything sounded was encouraging! We ended up getting one of the daily specials - roasted king oyster mushrooms - as one of our starters, as well as baked potato beingets, and the spring risotto and Hopgood's Hot Chicken Sandwich for our mains. The toothsome mushrooms had a great, savoury taste, while the snap peas popped with their signature crunch and bright, vegetal flavour. Wisps of rasped cheese added salty goodness, and some edible flavours brightened the dish up further. I had ordered the baked potato beignets to flesh out my meal since the chicken sandwich is a la carte, but you don't really need a reason to get these other than the fact that they are absolutely incredible! The beignets themselves were fantastic; having never been to New Orleans, I don't have a good point of reference but they were wonderfully crispy on the outside and soft and doughy on the inside, so it's hard to see where they might gone wrong. The baked potato-style toppings amped it up further, with sour cream, smoked cheddar, bacon and chives. I could swear that there was some serious garlic flavour in there was well, but maybe the smoky cheese was throwing my taste buds off. My Hopgood Hot Chicken Sandwich (TM) was a top-notch, fried chicken sandwich. The big piece of thigh had a thick, ultra crispy breading, and pleasant layer of heat from a dousing of hot sauce. Some coleslaw brought a little bite and the creamy "comeback sauce" evened out the heat of the chicken. The toasted, sesame seed-dotted bun held up admirably well to the delicious hot mess within. My wife's spring risotto wowed as soon as we saw the verdant green dish, with asparagus and wild leeks lending their signature, springtime flavours, with further bright bursts from the preserved lemon and pear shoots. Service was relaxed and friendly thought our meal. It's especially satisfying when a destination meal lives up to the hype, and Juniper was firing on all cylinders for our meal with spot-on flavours, execution, ambiance and service.

The menu changes to what is fresh and it was a bit late in the season so it was a bit limited. We started with the beef tartare which was different from what we expected as it had an Asian twist but it was delicious. Also had the oysters with the chefs own fresh hot sauce, also tasty. My wife had the crispy skin salmon which was supposed to come with leaks and peppers but she doesn't like peppers so the chef graciously whipped up a fantastic cauliflower with hazelnut brown butter which was fantastic. I had the pork Milanese with prosciutto basil green beans which was exceptional. If you have room for it don't miss the chocolate eclair for desert, it is heavenly.
