This is a nice place. They even have plum wine, my favorite drink with Sushi.

A wonderful and broad product selection. Nice to be able to find some wines we hadn't seen anywhere else.

Review Highlights - Bishop's Cellar

If you're looking for a cultured experience versus utilitarian alcohol shopping (NSLC much), then this chic shop should be on your docket.

I had to go home and get my physical ID and come back. When I complained the man working there proceeded to to argue with me and was very rude. His coworkers were even apologizing for him. I am a loyal customer but this is probably my last time there.

Named after the former city jail in the north end, RockHead, the booze dispensary formerly known as…read morePremier Wines, just opened up in the North and Windsor Sobeys. It's not a huge store, but they have a nice selection of what I assume are some good wines, mostly higher-end liquors, and a nice little niche that they seem to be carving out in the craft beer market, which is more of my bag. They have a couple racks and coolers of the many great beer offerings from around Nova Scotia, as well as regional ones like Picaroons and Dieu du Ciel. I just want to buy them all and stock my own beer fridge! The kicker though is the great idea that they had to offer growlers of beer for brewers that are located outside of the city and are unable to do so here. When I was there on Super Bowl Sunday they had their own RockHead pale ale (made by Garrison I believe), Butcher's Block Red and Hippie Dippie Pale Ale from Tatamagouche Brewing, and Boxing Rock's Vicar's Cross double IPA. Deposit on the growler bottles is $7, and re-fills seem to range from $10-$15, both plus tax. This is a fantastic addition to the neighbourhood, especially since this is in my go-to grocery store. I'm looking forward to quenching my thirst with RockHead's delicious offerings.

This NSLC is, dare I say, sweet!? There aren't a ton of offerings, but there are cold beer fridges, including individual can purchases. As well, they have some upscale wine selections complete with heaping price tags. The place is fairly small; with just a couple of aisles within a small square shaped space, it's a perfect addition to the Alderney Landing Centre. It would be nice if their individual beer choices were in bottles instead of in cans, but oh well. A Rickard's White was purchased and enjoyed in the sunshine, thanks to this great NSLC.

This location is relatively small, minuscule, petite, cozy, tiny, wee, itty-bitty, Lilliputian, teensy-weensy, etc. Your expectations have been set that it's small? Good. Now, apply that knowledge to their selection. Think about it... Take your time. .. That's right! They don't have a very big selection. It's mostly the most popular brands of liquor in any category. If you're a wine connoisseur, this is not the spot for you. If you're looking to pick up a few drinks for the weekend (or weekday, who'm I to judge), you'll be much happier. The location is great! For those using the ferry to cross the harbour, they can grab something to go before/after their ride. If you've got a car, there is a much larger location near the Dartmouth entrance to the MacDonald Bridge. Staff are helpful and it's always well-staffed.
