And now that I live only a few miles away, it's a regular stop when I'm in a thrifting mood. As with most things these days, the prices here have gone up a bit the past few years. But they are still very reasonable, and they have daily 50% off and 99-cent tag sales, plus other specials throughout the week. They also have a loyalty program where you can earn points and discounts based on how much you purchase. This still ranks as one of the cleanest and most well organized thrift shops I've ever been to, even moreso since their recent massive re-arranging project which I really appreciate. My favorite section is their sewing and craft area. If you're a fabric hoarder like I am, there's always something fun to be found there. Their clothing can be hit and miss, but if you visit regularly you're sure to find something new and fun to wear. And don't miss their vintage/antique section which has some really fun finds.

I volunteer here and every day we get so many compliments of how clean the store is, how nice the clothing is, how organized the merchandise is, and how much the customers appreciate the small thrift store with great prices. Like any thrift store, each day new merchandise is out out, so there is always new treasures to find. Parking can be difficult, but there are two public parking lots within the block of the store for shoppers, if the street parking is full. There are also three great restaurants within a block and food is very good at whichever one you choose. Come discover a treasure and take it home! We have had shoppers from as far away as Seattle, Kamloops, BC, and the San Juan Islands.

They also have a great outdoor courtyard area full of all sorts of kitschy/rusting finery - everything from old bicycles to mattress springs to car bumpers just waiting to be repurposed creatively. One thing I like about this antique mall is that it's not just an antique mall - several stalls feature new (yet vintage-like) items and signage. The prices are typical for an antique mall (a litlte high, but hey where are you going to find this stuff anywhere else?) - but not outrageously so. The passageways are a little narrow, so keep your bags (and elbows) tucked in. This is definitely not a place I would dare to bring a small child. Best to plan your visit for an adults-only outing!

Located a few…read moreblocks from the center of Oak Harbor, it's worth the slight detour to check out their wealth of treasures, all of which are well-marked, well-presented, and well-priced. They have everything from vintage knick knacks to toys to books to small furniture. And clothes, TONS of clothes, all organized by size, style, season...you name it. They also have a large selection of household items, like dishes, bedding, towels, and small appliances. One thing I really appreciate is that they have dressing rooms so you can try things on! Some larger thrift stores have done completely away with this option, and while I understand why, I appreciate the ones who still have them. The line can get a little long at the counter, so keep that in mind if you're there on a busy day. But if you want a great thrifting experience, and to support a lovely small town business, definitely give Island Thrift a try!

Came to this thrift store for the first time today and while I was looking through one of the racks…read moreone of the workers, an Asian woman with big eyeglasses came out of nowhere, practically running up on me and told me she was working on that rack. She looked very visibly angry when saying this. I apologized and told her that I genuinely thought this was one of the racks on display in the store and backed off it. I hadn't been here before so I didn't know the layout of the store. She didn't say anything to me after that and hurried off away? I tried to go through the rest of the store but, after that the vibe was just off and I had to leave. Not sure if I will come back. At least not for awhile. Overall the store is very organized and clean. The clothing selection isn't the most stylish but, they can't help want gets donated to them. Would have liked it more if my visit had been better.
