Hedgy and Piney waiting in the car as mom, grandma, and I shopped.

My grandma, my mom, and I last came to the WAIF Thrift Store on Monday the 2nd of December 2019. We were out to look at some Christmas houses, run a couple of errands, do some shopping for dinner supplies (I cooked the dinner), and shop for miscellaneous items at a couple of thrift stores (here and Island Thrift). The store is neatly organized by merchandise type and I had fun looking through the items on sale and found two stand out items I had to buy. The first item was a small sign reading "Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden." which is so perfect. Husbands can be exacting and highly discerning when it comes to making sure things for their honey are just right. This piece has found a permanent home in my bedroom since I bought it. The second standout item I purchased was a tennis/not-so-tennis movie titled "Match Point", I had bought a copy online that couldn't play on USA formatted DVD players so I was watching for this movie and low and behold WAIF Thrift Store had it! My grandma, mom, and I watched it later that same day after I cooked dinner for all of us. While we were watching the movie, my grandma had her laptop open and the Seahawks-Vikings game playing on mute off to the side. The Seahawks might have won that game on the scoreboard, but the Vikings won in spirit. We all enjoyed the movie and were happy I purchased the movie so we had something to watch together for the last night my mom and I spent with grandma on our visit. Part of why I like shopping at thrift stores is the shared experiences we can have both in shopping, and in adding to the story/history of a particular item. The store wasn't too busy on our most recent visit during the day on a Monday in December, the aisles and shelves were clean, and all the workers and other customers we encountered were kind in their interactions. Prices were very reasonable and the DVD offerings varied enough that one could come here to pick up a couple movies last minute. Plus there were cats in the adoption area that we enjoyed watching.

This thrift shop is quite big and located just off Midway Blvd. The selection of items is a typical assortment of standard thrift shop fare, with a heavy emphasis on glassware. The thrift store seems to be run off of donations and a chunk of the profits go towards WAIF's mission for animal welfare. In addition to having a thrift store component, there's also a cat adoption center attached. Today, it starred Abby, a senior cow cat!

An example of some fine China that they're selling a piece rather a set of 182 pieces for 80 bucks

I'm big-time into thrift stores and this is one of my new favorite ones it's not got the most incredible selection but what it does have is a good variety of things across the whole spectrum from some household goods to some clothing's some small furniture kitchen stuff all the things that you would need at a reasonable price and even some high-quality items also at a reasonable price definitely not steals, but that being said priced very fairly. Everybody there is super nice very helpful the places extremely clean and well-kept I also like that it helps out the cats and dogs of Whidbey Island

Fun story. Great employees. Good discounts. The store is small, but they have a large selection. Their prices are fair.

Best thrift store in Anacortes! Prices are ridiculously low and your purchase helps a great cause.

I love a clean, organized, well-stocked thrift store - and Island Thrift delivers! Located a few…read moreblocks from the center of Oak Harbor, it's worth the slight detour to check out their wealth of treasures, all of which are well-marked, well-presented, and well-priced. They have everything from vintage knick knacks to toys to books to small furniture. And clothes, TONS of clothes, all organized by size, style, season...you name it. They also have a large selection of household items, like dishes, bedding, towels, and small appliances. One thing I really appreciate is that they have dressing rooms so you can try things on! Some larger thrift stores have done completely away with this option, and while I understand why, I appreciate the ones who still have them. The line can get a little long at the counter, so keep that in mind if you're there on a busy day. But if you want a great thrifting experience, and to support a lovely small town business, definitely give Island Thrift a try!

She looked very visibly angry when saying this. I apologized and told her that I genuinely thought this was one of the racks on display in the store and backed off it. I hadn't been here before so I didn't know the layout of the store. She didn't say anything to me after that and hurried off away? I tried to go through the rest of the store but, after that the vibe was just off and I had to leave. Not sure if I will come back. At least not for awhile. Overall the store is very organized and clean. The clothing selection isn't the most stylish but, they can't help want gets donated to them. Would have liked it more if my visit had been better.

They only sell women's clothing (well, as far as clothes go…read more They sell accessories and jewelry, too) and they do a good job of determining what's in style and what people will likely want or need. I think it's family-owned and a couple of employees are family members. They are always nice and helpful at checkout. I do think some of the clothing is overpriced but I also know that, on an island with few decent places to buy clothes, sometimes it's worth it to stop in and see what they have, regardless of price.
