I think it's family-owned and a couple of employees are family members. They are always nice and helpful at checkout. I do think some of the clothing is overpriced but I also know that, on an island with few decent places to buy clothes, sometimes it's worth it to stop in and see what they have, regardless of price.

Part clothing boutique, part jewelry store, and part import shop, there is something for everyone here and in every price range. I found a great little gift for my daughter this Christmas, at under $20. They also had some gorgeous sweaters and other garments that were very fairly priced. We were also intrigued by their wonderfully scented, handmade soaps; local made jewelry and crafts; and even some of the larger furniture pieces they had for sale. The service was super friendly and helpful, too. I will definitely add this cute little eco-friendly shop to my La Conner rotation!

And now that I live only a few miles away, it's a regular stop when I'm in a thrifting mood. As with most things these days, the prices here have gone up a bit the past few years. But they are still very reasonable, and they have daily 50% off and 99-cent tag sales, plus other specials throughout the week. They also have a loyalty program where you can earn points and discounts based on how much you purchase. This still ranks as one of the cleanest and most well organized thrift shops I've ever been to, even moreso since their recent massive re-arranging project which I really appreciate. My favorite section is their sewing and craft area. If you're a fabric hoarder like I am, there's always something fun to be found there. Their clothing can be hit and miss, but if you visit regularly you're sure to find something new and fun to wear. And don't miss their vintage/antique section which has some really fun finds.

This store was an organized array of amazing. The framed artwork was beautiful and varied between oil paintings, vintage prints, Asian themed pictures, airplanes and everything in between. There's dressers with specific drawers for buttons, retro valentines cards and old timey photos. There's two different staircases that will lead you two different floor sections with different themed rooms. Pam doesn't have pickers for her items, she does the picking herself. What good taste she has too! Some of the items, she can give you a back history on. Oh my goodness, I could go on and on about this store, but you really need to check it out for yourself. There simply were too many interesting things. I am certain I could have spent hours inside and still not taken in everything. The back rooms had what I look at as apothecary chest- tons of little drawers, if you can picture it. Except they had several of them and every drawer was filled with different jewelry findings! Beads, clasps, bails- you name it. At the front of the store were a bunch of felt hats that were also incredible. We were greeted when we entered and checked on a couple of times- I really enjoyed this shop. I was very, very tempted to buy myself one of their gorgeous semi-precious gemstone necklaces. Senior Thrift in Freeland is more than just a place to find a good deal--it's a must-see spot on…read moreWhidbey Island. What you buy here helps fund key services like Meals on Wheels for local seniors and their caregivers through an organization called Island Senior Resources (ISR). The store is huge, taking up two floors, and it's a required stop for anyone visiting or living on South Whidbey. Unlike many big thrift stores that feel messy, Senior Thrift is exceptionally clean and neat. It's set up more like a high-end consignment shop than a typical warehouse. Everything is clearly labeled, and the items are usually in great shape, showing the high quality of donations, they receive. The aisles are wide, the displays are attractive, and browsing is a relaxing, fun experience. The store is packed with a huge variety of items in almost every category: * Clothes: You'll find high-quality, gently used clothes for men and women, often with designer brands mixed in, especially in their special "Pick of the Litter" area. Everything is sorted well, making it easy to find what you want. * Home Goods & Decor: This is the store's strong point. The two floors allow for a massive selection of furniture, dishes, small kitchen appliances, and unique decorations. A fun highlight is the dedicated Christmas Room, which is open year-round for holiday shoppers. * Books & Media: They have a good selection of books and media. Honestly, I REALLY come for the books. I could spend hours in the stacks searching for rare and vintage book on subject of interest to me as well as contemporary murder mysteries that I enjoy reading. While the prices are generally fair and reasonable for the quality (especially since your purchase is a donation), occasionally a large or antique item might seem a bit expensive. I recently found a large, chunky bracelet with the 12 signs of the zodiac carved into it for $400 and a beautiful Hamsa Hand for $75.00! But overall, you get excellent value for your money. The best part about shopping here is the mission. Every dollar supports Island Senior Resources, funding important services like ride programs for medical appointments, food delivery, and support for those caring for an older adult. The staff, mostly kind and knowledgeable volunteers, are extremely friendly and make the store a cheerful place to visit. Senior Thrift in Freeland is easily one of the best thrift stores on Whidbey Island. It wins because it has a great selection of goods, keeps everything perfectly organized, and directly supports a crucial local cause. If you want a fun shopping trip where your money truly helps the community, head straight to Senior Thrift. You're guaranteed to find a treasure and feel great about supporting local seniors
