Vintage is one of my favorite restaurants in the world. Rod is a soup genius! Every soup he makes is my new favorite. I love how the menu changes daily, but that some favorites (like the unabashedly-bowl-licking-good rock shrimp tamales) are permanent menu fixtures. Rod can also whip up an insanely delicious vegan plate with a cornucopia of amazing flavors. And then there is the Delights of The Naked Stranger with homemade ice cream for dessert. Don't ask-just order and enjoy. Book in advance during peak times, as there are only a few tables and they fill up. read more

We were really looking forward to this restaurant after reading some very fine reviews about it. We needed a restaurant that was vegetarian friendly and by that I mean having at least one entree listed on the menu that is vegetarian. Although our initial reaction was favorable (we loved the ambiance), the server became extremely testy when we told her that we didn't see any vegetarian entrees. Her response was that the chef was more than happy to create whatever we might have in mind. That wasn't the point, we told her - vegetarians should not have to look at a menu featuring only meat/fish choices. The owner/chef did, to his credit, come out to say that he would be glad to prepare whatever he had in the kitchen. However, the result was a dish that featured only vegetables. Yes, the sauce made it tasty but it was so un-filling that we had to have a snack afterwards. When we were leaving, we told the chef that we appreciated his coming out but when we asked him if there were some sort of protein that could be added (i.e., tofu, bean burger), he said that he would never put anything into his creations that weren't fresh and since only "two people a week order vegetarian," it wasn't worth his purchasing anything beyond the vegetables. To me, this was a ridiculous answer and we won't return. The $30 charge for a vegetable dish was beside the point. The wine list was good, though, and that's why this gets two stars and not one. I am mostly writing this to warn any others out there who are vegetarians that the "vegetarian friendly" filter is not accurate and that they should seek a meal elsewhere. read more

Unbelievable food. Reasonable prices. They use local food sources for nearly every dish. I tried the pecan encrusted chicken, which was phenomenal. The location doesn't offer much seating, we walked up at 5:30pm and were able to get a reservation. During our stay, there was limited space available. The service was exceptional. read more

"You're going to the Vintage? Try the shrimp tamale" is what we heard over and over. Yuk we thought---they've ruined a tamale. We walked into this quaint, classy, intimate, romantic, historic setting. It felt right. Tried the tamale and couldn't believe how delicious it tasted. Way above the rest. You're paying for fine dining here and they deliver. We had the tamale on recommendation of others on yelp. It exceeded expectations. I had the duck, which was the best I've had since I had it at one of Emeril's restaurants in Florida. My wife had the chicken, but it was far from ordinary. You seriously can't go wrong here folks. We didn't drink and it still came to about $80 with tip and no dessert, but if you appreciate food that's worth the price tag go ahead and make this your "special occasion" place in Ketchum. read more

I had a great lunch here a few weeks ago and took my husband there on Friday for lunch. We were seated with menus and water. That was the last service we received. We were very excited to try the vintage after reading all of the reviews. We walked very disappointed and amazed how poor the service and food was. Party of six and only two entrees were designated good. Wine selection is extensive but server couldn't tell you about half of them. We don't mind paying outrageous prices for food and drink if the service and food are worth it. The 2 stars are for the amazing asparagus and the deserts. Steaks were tough and scallops were under cooked. The Pecan Chicken was very good. I definitely would not recommend this establishment. Are entire party walked away in disappointment with the entire experience. Definitely wished we spent our money someplace else. It was a very expensive learning lesson that we won't do again. read more

We come to Ketchum on a regular basis. This week we had nice dining experiences at Michel's Christiania, The Grill at Knob Hill Inn, Enoteca, Globus and Sushi on Second, all of them were wonderful. We'd heard good things about Vintage, and saved it for last for our anniversary. There was no warmth or friendliness from the staff. We were not made to feel welcome. Service was poor and there were long delays, even after we asked for our ticket, a long delay. The presentation of the food was "precious" but the dishes themselves were not that good. It was a total disappointment. We will not be going back. There are too many really fine restaurants in Ketchum where the food and service are excellent. Even by Ketchum standards the dishes were over-priced. read more

One of the best dinners I've had! The food was so fresh and well seasoned - absolutely delicious! Had the sweet corn and shrimp tamale to start, it was excellent. Not too heavy, very flavorful and the perfect size. For entree I had the pork special with fig balsamic glaze - incredible. Cooked perfectly, and again the perfect size. For Dessert we had the flour less chocolate cake, it was one of the most delicious desserts I've ever had. Adorable place with incredible food and wonderful service. the food is good the atmosphere is lovely, the customer service made it so we will never visit there again, we had to reduce our reservation, we did so by calling as early as we realized this and their demeanor over the phone was not pleasant, our friends felt bad and called the restaurant during our stay and requested a bottle of wine approximately $40.00 in value be sent to our table, their response was "they are drinking a $90.00, don't you think that would be insulting" she decided to end the call. read more
