I love Vinnie's. The woman at the register is so sweet and the subs are delicious. I think they used to use a different lettuce on their subs that I preferred-- just the standard shredded lettuce with a crunch which I preferred, but my sandwich was still good. Prices are still decent despite inflation. It's definitely more of a carry-out place, but you there are a couple and a counter you can sit at and look out the window to Grand St if you prefer to stay and eat your sandwich. read more

We walked past this place and it alway close. So we finally came during lunch time and on the weekend to grab a sub. The worker was very welcoming and helpful. While perusing my best sub list I realized I hadn't written a review for one of the best sub joints in the city. I've been here dozens of times (before Yelp) since I gave up on Baris' long ago. Whats with the attitude there? Forget the overpriced and over rated JP Graziano (where's the beef?) For clarification I do like the subs at both joints but JP so chinzy with the meats it's almost like eating a veggie sub. Vinnie's actually appreciates its customers. Friendly service is not over rated and in these Covid times making the customer feel welcome for supporting them must happen. The sub here has a decent portion of meats and cheeses piled on really great crusty bread with lettuce, tomato oil & seasoning and the Chef's vinegar dressing. Maybe the dressing is the kicker here. Add some giardinera and maybe a few more slices of meat and you've got one of the best subs around. read more

I had a random craving for a good Italian sandwich and decided to give this place a try for delivery for the first time. I ordered the Italian House Specialty sandwich and potato salad. The potato salad was really flavorful and creamy. I would rate it a perfect 10/10. I wasn't as impressed by the sandwich. The price for the sandwich was fair, but the amount of meat was super skimpy in general. There wasn't a good balance of bread to meat. I opted to add hot giardiniera peppers when I ordered, but it didn't come with any. When I noticed that they weren't on the sandwich, I thought I may have forgotten to add them, but I did see it on my online receipt. There was also only trace amounts of vinegar and seasoning on my sandwich. The sandwich didn't quite satisfy my craving, but maybe I caught them on a bad day. My final take- Probably not an ideal place for delivery. If you are there ordering in person, you can have better input over the ingredients they put on the sandwich. If you do order delivery, I highly advise picking the "add more meat" option. read more

It's been a long time coming, but Vinnie's is my new favorite submarine shop. As I learned from my first experience. I just got a made to order sub and the ingredients along with the excellent bread just couldn't be beat. Of course they have great bread, but you know that's gonna be great from the local bakery they have listed in the door. You know what made the small difference was the amount of toppings/condiments was just right. Some places slather on the mayo or the oil or whatever, but Vinnie's sub I had was perfect. I had everything on it, but it still held together and it still tasted great. I did get the hot giardinera on the side. They didn't skimp on the toppings, it was just the right amount. Plus as awesome and kind as the lady taking the orders is, Vinnie's is a winner in my book. I will be putting this place at the top of my list going forward. read more

This place is the real deal. Amazing if you get the two chairs at the counter. The lady is so nice and helpful, not always the case at real deal deli. We got a tuna sub add giardinera and Turkey pesto mayo (the special) and both were great. High quality ingredients. The promise of fresh pesto made that day was definitely real. When the young lady handed me the sandwich and boom I could tell that I'm paying $10.00 for this sandwich and at Conte De Savaio I'm paying $7.00 and it's heavier. This spot has the cutest lady working the register. Super sweet and could sell you bottled water at your house! Classic Italian deli, I'd say a must and probably a neighborhood staple. I had the tuna salad and it was great. They will cater to your needs i.e. no bread, vegetarian if need be. I would try the spicy pickled celery on any sandwich. It's a must. The subs were tasty!!! I got the smoked turkey and the Italian sub. The lady running the sub shop was really sweet. Vinnie's was a super small sub shop. I got there at 11:22am and walked out at 12:02pm. It took 40 mins to get the 5 subs. The guy in front of me had a 30 sub order and so many grub hub and uber eats drivers kept coming in to pick up online orders; plus other people kept coming in off the street to get a sub. The phone kept ringing and the lady wasn't answering the phone. LOL She shut all the online food delivery services off because they were too busy. It was kind of funny actually. read more

I was walking around River West, the mid-budget neighborhood, close to but not in downtown, where I decided to stay, for this trip. Right next to my AirBnB, there's a mainstream sub chain, but why eat there, unless you want some safely premade dolphin tuna? So I walked a bit, and found this place. Looks authentic. Cashier lady was nice, and seemed quite authentic herself. They prepared my food very quickly, and it was good. I got the Italian, which I ate on a park bench nearby, as I did not want to disturb a couple, possibly on a date, who sat down at the deli's limited counter seating, before me. An outside table or two would have been nice. My one regret was not getting banana peppers on the Italian. Those come standard on Italians, at some places. At Vinnie's, you'd have to ask for that, specifically. In the end, a very good, authentic Italian sub, but not the best I've ever had, in the whole world. For its time and place, quite good, though, and a nice ambiance, if you're lucky and ambitious enough to get a seat. I never mean to bring businesses down on their reviews, but think about what a 5-star restaurant actually is. read more
