It amazes me that I have never written a review for this wonderful place!! We literally come here for dinner every night that we're in Florence! So far that's at least 5 times :D We came here during our first visit to Florence back in the Fall of 2015 and were lucky enough to eat here twice! Reservations here are a MUST and even then you're not even guaranteed to be able to make any for the night or time you want! We came back during our honeymoon in April of 2017 and when I mean came back, I mean we made a deliberate stop in Florence just to eat here and then leave the next morning. We were calling for 2 weeks prior (via our Airbnb host) to no avail. We made a last attempt during lunch to see if there was anything and they had a last minute cancellation for like a 9:15 PM slot - which of course we snagged!! Now we are back again with all the intentions of spending our Florence nights with the great guys of Vini e Vecchi Sapori! My favorite dish is and will always be their famous duck Ragu! *These pictures are of double portions - yup that's how I roll. We were even so lucky that we were recognized back in April and again now in October. I cannot get over the delicious food and the spectacular hospitality of these guys! This place is our home away from home in Florence - my favorite city in Italy - maybe even my favorite city outside of home. Only had a really short trip in Florence due to some flight problems and the restaurant was able to change our reservation to the next day. They were super nice and accommodating with our flight difficulties. We were seated super quick after we arrived and the service was fast and the staff were really sweet. We started the meal with bruschetta, which was really flavorful, the bread was harder than most which we liked and it was fresh made. For our main dishes, we knew which pastas we wanted to try but were unsure about which entree to chose. We went with their recommendation, the osso buco. The meat was perfectly cooked, delicious, and melted in your mouth. If you go this is a must try. The only miss for the meal was the dessert. The taste of the tiramisu was delicious but it was late in the night and it was the last part of the batch so there was more cream than actual cake. It was still delicious and the only critique I have of the whole meal. read more

Patience is a virtue. I called several times trying to reserve a table, finally got a reservation for 930pm. We arrived at 930 and the place was packed. We didn't get seemed until 10, but good things come to those who wait. By far and a way my best meal start to finish. Once we got seated, staff worked very hard to get us served. This place is amazing. The owners, Tomas and Pablo, were the sweetest people ever. We were lucky to get in without a wait for a late lunch. A number of people came in after us for food but had upwards of a 20-30 minute wait. Tomas took amazing care of us and was so much fun. We had the Duck Pappardelle, the Bruschetta Ravioli, the fried zucchini flowers, the raspberry tiramisu (a first for us), and an amazing bottle of wine. All of it we would immediately have again if we weren't so stuffed. Toma made sure to take care of us with some limoncello shots. 10 out of 10. read more

Probably the best restaurant we ate in all of Italy. I'll just leave that there. It is very small and you need a reservation. They have 2 seating times for lunch and 2 for dinner. We came once for dinner and then came back the next day for lunch. We only ate 3 meals in Florence because we stayed for such a short time and 2 of them were at this restaurant! They handwrite their menu every day which is crazy and lets you know how fresh things really are here. Service is very friendly and they really care about making sure people are happy. Food: -The caprese salad is out of this world. The mozzarella borders on burrata because it is creamy and delicious. Definitely the best one we had all trip. -The tomato soup is interesting and different than what we expected, but was very tasty and flavorful. -You have to get the paccheri with zucchini flowers. I was almost crying eating this dish, because that's how good it was. I asked if it would be on the lunch menu the next day and they said not usually, but they would make it special for me, which was soo nice. It was just as perfect the next day. -Ravioli with pesto- perfect pillowy pasta with homemade pesto sauce, so fresh tasting and delectable -Duck pappardelle - Perfectly cooked noodles. The best restaurant we went to in our entire trip of Italy...and that takes into account Rome and Venice as well. We loved it so much that we went back 2 additional times. The wait staff is amazing. By the 3rd time we knew each other by first name and it was like being with family. The food.....my goodness the food. Fresh and delicious pasta every time. Pre-COVID dining experience. This was our favorite meal in Italy. While in Salzburg, some locals at Augustiner Brau sat with us and we struck up a conversation. Once the topic moved to our plans for Italy, one of them was adamant that we try this restaurant - the best meal they had ever had. So, we made the effort to dine here. I was able to stop in a day in advance and make a reservation in person for the following evening. Once we arrived, we were seated in the back at a table with an Italian couple who had driven from outside Florence for a romantic evening together. It was a different but fun experience to sort of have a double date with strangers. The food here is the best I've had in Italy. I didn't take any photos since I was too busy eating delicious food and chatting with our double date. The handwritten menu was a good sign as was the limited number of dishes. I went with osso buco and my partner went with the duck pappardelle - their signature dish it seems. The tiramisu here was the best I've ever had in my life. It's not super traditional (in the sense of online recipes from non-Italians), but it is significantly tastier than any rendition I've had to date. Everything here was spectacular. A must! Reservation needed! This little restaurant by the small alley next to Gucci Museo is a must visit. We were in Florence for 5 days and was highly recommended by a friend. We arrived the first day to try walk-in. Unfortunately our party of 6 was not possible for the same day or the next day reservation. We did get the third day reservation. When we arrived, the restaurant was already packed and we still had to wait. We got seated and the menu. The menu was hand written that changes daily. On it, it also indicates: No Ice, No pizza, No cappuccino. Pappardelle with Duck Ragu was excellent. Filet with Peppercorn sauce was delicious Our party was blown at how good the food was, we came back the following afternoon for lunch. Service was great. Everyone had a good time. This place has suffered from what I would call the Success Principle - they enjoy some success and then everything goes downhill because they can only think about how great they are. I ate here about two years ago and then again last week. It was one of my better meals then and now across the board the worst restaurant experience of my 10 days in Italy. Food this time was nothing special but more important, the service was not only horrible but offensive how they treated us. This place is amazing! The atmosphere was everything we were looking for in a family restaurant. We had reservations, thankfully, because the place was packed. I think we counted 14 tables, but that sounds overly optimistic. The three courses was authentic, perfected, and delicious all paired with house wine. The butter with anchovies starter is something I will to try to recreate. I won't even attempt the Osso Buco which was the best I had in Tuscany, or elsewhere. Would give 6 stars if we can. Came back twice during our 7 days in Florence, one of the best restaurants we tried during our 3 week travel in Italy/Florence. They change their menu daily based on the season, we had the prosciutto (hand carved in front of you), zucchini flower risotto with saffron (sooo good... I ordered it again the next time but with paccheri), beef tagliatelle (al dente pasta with great sauce), stuffed purple artichoke (in season during the winter), veal kidneys, and meringato (I ordered this dessert both times as well). It doesn't matter what you get here, everything is good... scratch that, everything is GREAT. Make reservations early, especially during the summer. Terrific place and atmosphere. Went there for dinner. Ordered their pasta al ragu and it was just so good. My wife ordered a zuccini pasta and the colours, texture and cream; perfecto. Then we also ordered a sliced beef steak with cheese and rockets and I can't fault it. When you enter, you immediately feel the crowd and energy of the voracious diners and lovely atmosphere. They hand you a one page hand written menu of Italian and English on each side; and that is a sure sign of a seasonal well thought menu. Waiter is friendly, swift and to the point. THIS WAS MY FAVORITE RESTAURANT I WENT TO DURING MY 2 WEEKS IN CENTRAL ITALY. Where do I begin? First of all, the atmosphere was incredible. The main building of the restaurant was this little hole in the wall of this alley and as soon as we walked in a waiter started cracking jokes and making us feel welcome. I didn't actually eat here, though. To my surprise, they actually had a roped off seating area in the middle of the nearby Piazza della Signoria, which was lit up and gorgeous at night. We went in mid-June and so the temperature was warm with a nice breeze, making it even more perfect. But perhaps the thing that impressed me the most about this place was the service. As I said, the waiters were incredibly chummy and just exuded positive energy into the whole place. They really made an effort to make you feel at home, slapping you on the shoulder as they were telling a joke, pulling up a chair to the table to tell a quick story, or coming over and sticking a little spoon in my friend's veal to show us how to eat the bone marrow. At one point we realized the table was pretty shaky and, unprompted, the guy kneels on the floor and begins cutting a piece of cork to wedge under the table leg. I wish I had asked for his name because he was one of my favorite waiters ever. Now the most important part: the food. I ordered the pappardelle with duck sauce and the Florentine tripe, and both tasted so fresh and homey, like something my grandma would make if she were Italian. Highly recommend both dishes, especially the latter if you've never had tripe before. Both were eaten with a glass of classic Chianti from the region, a delightful red that might be my favorite type of wine I've tried on the trip. The bread, in true Florentine fashion, was unsalted so be sure to load it up with olive oil and salt or else it will be rather bland. My friends also ordered the pappardelle with duck sauce, as well as the veal. If I were to come back, I'd seriously consider ordering the veal because it was some of the most tender, melt-in-your-mouth meat I've ever tasted. At the end, the waiter brought over a complimentary plate of fried zucchini leaves, and although we were absolutely stuffed at this point, they were still a very tasty snack. Now the crazy part. At the end, the waiter counted up our meal, something like €70, and then just waved his hands and said all three of us could each just pay €20 and call it a day. He just discounted our meal €10 because she felt like it... did I mention that the service here is incredible?!? So ultimately, for one of my favorite meals in Central Italy with a pasta dish, a meat dish, a nice wine, and a antipasto of zucchini flowers, I only paid €20! I would have been more than willing to pay the full price, as I will definitely make it a point to come back here next time I'm in Florence. read more

Lucky to have stumbled across this place, hands down best meal we had in Florence. Homey place catering to the city and its locals, no tourist trap generic menu items, as clearly stated. Many diners were regulars coming in for lunch who the waiters knew and had a chat with. I got the pappardelle with duck sauce, which was soul satisfying and hearty without being heavy and making me feel groggy afterwards. My vegetarian friend (our waiter was very accommodating answering her questions about the menu) had the risotto and was similarly wowed. Desert was pera cotta.
