Cheese Pizza by the Slice
Pooja P.

I've been coming here for years now, and I love it! They have slices of pizza during the day, and it's a pretty huge slice. I also like the cheese fries - I always get them with a side of ranch. The owner is usually here during the weekdays, and he's super friendly and funny! They have a couple of dine-in tables but mostly a takeout spot. You get a lot of food, and their prices are reasonable. I highly recommend Vince's pizza!

Pizza is pretty okay. French fries are too greasy. Calamaris are bad.

They were very accommodating for requests of dishes that were not on the menu as well! My first 34 years of life I lived on Long Island, New York. Formally a 14 year chef on Long Island where I ran a family style restaurant for a wonderful Sicilian family and Nonna Silvia's made me feel like I was back home. This place is legit! I am 20 years relocated living in South Carolina. This is in my top three favorite Italian meals I've had around the United States since I left New York. If my work travels bring me back to Chicago, I will definitely be back to Nonna Sylvia's!

My husband ordered the polo Venito and since I can't have tomatoes, our waiter recommended the fettuccine Alfredo so I ordered that. There is olive oil and Parmesan cheese on the table and they brought us two small loaves of bread which was crusty on the outside and chewy on the inside just the way we like it. It was dark in here, which was very calming. There was music playing softly in the background just enough so we don't understand what the people next to us are talking about which we appreciate. There's a full bar and lots of wine options. I highly recommend dining here. The food is fantastic, seasoned very well and the perfect temperature and texture. This is an amazing restaurant to take a first date or even to celebrate a special day like an anniversary or birthday. I am so glad we stopped here! Will be back for sure! Our waiter was kind, knowledgeable, and professional! Could not ask for a better restaurant to come to tonight!

We were a little surprised when nothing was done for it, which isn't a big deal, but I'll be honest it was disappointing since we did come specifically to celebrate and had talked about it w our server. 3/5 Arancini - Very salty. None of us really enjoyed them because of that. They also came out lukewarm instead of hot. Would have been excellent if it was less salty and came out hot and crispy. 5/5 Fig & Mushroom (subbed for prosciutto) - The menu doesn't specify how the fig is served. Turned out to be fig jam rather than fresh fig, which wasn't what we expected. A little too sweet for me but overall still very much enjoyed it. Their pizza was cooked perfectly with enough toppings and cheese. Very good pizza! 5/5 Braised Short Rib + Polenta - so good! The short rib was excellent, just slightly salty. The polenta was perfect, and it came with a generous portion of wild mushrooms. 2/5 White Wine Cake (recommended as "unique") by our server - This was the most disappointing meal item. Our waitress told us it was special, but it was very bland and didn't match the description or image on their website. Their website showed a cake with a large scoop of ice cream on top, fair amount of whipped cream and raspberry sauce. Ours came with maybe a quarter of the size of that ice cream scoop, a little teaspoon dollop of whipped cream that you eat in one bite and the raspberry sauce was a tiny smear on bottom for decor but there wasn't enough to actually eat it. The cake itself was moist but lacked flavor. It took a really long time to come out, we thought perhaps they forgot, then forgetting we were celebrating a birthday on top of that was disappointing. Atmosphere - Beautiful space, very well done. The only issue is how close the tables are, you can't pull your chair back without hitting someone, and getting to the bathroom requires asking others to move because of how tight the layout is. Overall, we really enjoyed it and would return. While there were a few dishes we wouldn't order again, and others we would. Would love to try the wild mushroom pizza next time! The only thing was that since we had come to celebrate a birthday and didn't end up doing that, the night felt a little less special than we had expected--but still a nice experience overall.

I came to meet some folks and we sat at the bar. They have an extensive beverage program here, including mocktails, and that's what I settled on. I got one called Strawberry-Basil something, and it was so good. The strawberry-basil shrub was a key ingredient, and I don't get to a lot of places that use a shrub in their drinks. There was definitely a STRONG vinegar taste but for me, that was great. I also ordered a pasta dish, orecchiette and sausage with peas and a sweet, creamy sauce. Orecchiette and sausage are such a classic combo and I hadn't had this sauce before; it was a pleasant dish and was perfectly al dente. Service was good for the bar area. There's parking around, both in the lot right outside and the public parking lot below. And then of course there's the lots by the library and whatnot, so you should be able to find something.

Sometimes when you bookmark a restaurant your expectations are sky high and sometimes they don't live up to your own delusional expectations. This was not the case w/Pasta D'Arte Trattoria. We absolutely loved everything about this restaurant. The restaurant itself has a very nice ambiance w/a wine rack at the entrance. The restaurant itself has exposed brick walls mixed w/wood panels that have a nice rustic feel. Very nice relaxing ambiance w/an awesome, helpful friendly staff. During our meal they played easy listening like Frank Sinatra tunes. Ahhh but the reason for coming the food. When we came in Carlos our server brought us 2 glasses of champagne for our anniversary, very nice. We had bread on the table w/olive oil & Parmesan cheese. We ordered some fried calamari as our appetizers w/a delicious red sauce sprinkled w/red pepper flakes for a little spice. My wife ordered the Sacchetti Al Porcini which was delicious w/porcini & ricotta stuffed pasta sacks served in a butternut/parmesan sauce w/sautéed mushrooms, leeks & butternut squash. Absolutely delicious!!! I ordered the Lasagna Bolognese Carlos & his partner (her name started w/an M?). I'm sorry I can't remember both provided excellent service & made the whole evening very enjoyable. Thanks to both of you & the staff @ Pasta D'Arte for an excellent evening.

Service was not great as we had to ask for the waitress twice to order and to get water and bread refills. Still the waitress knew the menu and specials well and was professional. We got complimentary water, warm bread, olive oil and grated parmesan cheese (probably from a food service as it sat on the table in a ramekin). We shared a glass of house Chianti and fried calamari. I got Tagliolini Neri Fra Diavola and she got Fettucine alla Panna. The wine tasted cheap, calamari was mediocre and the pastas were good, but far from excellent; better than Olive Garden but comparable to Romano's Macaroni Grill. For the prices it should have been much better. The dining room where we sat was clean and attractive but getting worn. The men's room about the same as the dining room. All in all it was a pleasant evening but not the quality experience that other reviews suggested. The restaurant is clearly resting on their reputation and needs a big refresh. For 1 glass of house wine, a shared appetizer and 2 pastas plus tax and tip we spent $140. It was worth about half of that.

The owners are so friendly and hands-on, making sure every guest feels like part of the family. The atmosphere is cozy, warm, and perfect for and special casual meal with loved ones. The food? Absolutely delicious! Every dish is made with care and top-quality ingredients. We started with the homemade bread with garlic spread and calamari "Bobby style" a signature appetizer, which was perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. For the main course, I had the Veal Pancetta, and as always it was one of the best I've ever had - rich, flavorful, and packed with layers of love (you can really taste the passion in the cooking). You can tell this restaurant is dedicated to keeping things local and supporting the community, which I truly appreciate. It's rare to find a place that combines amazing food with such a strong sense of family and connection. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area - you won't be disappointed! We'll definitely be back!
