Pretty disappointed with this visit. The chicken came out way over-fried and super dry -- honestly hard to even eat. It felt like it had been sitting around way too long or just cooked wrong. I told the staff about it, and instead of fixing it or replacing the dish, they only took 10% off... which was about $1.80. That doesn't really make up for getting food that wasn't edible. I came for a bite to eat (lunch) at my local favorite restaurant to be greeted by a rude/snappy server and a dirty table, with negative energy! Mind you, I sat down at 1:30pm. The sign clearly states "closes at 2pm". She hurriedly said "do you know want you want to order bc we close in 10 minutes". I wasn't even given a greeting, or even a menu at this point....WOW! I simply said, I would dine elsewhere, got up from the table and told her she was RUDE! Our family dines here often... unfortunately, not anytime in the near future! 11/10 arguably THE BEST Pho . I've tried many places in Louisville and nothing absolutely NOTHING compares. I've come back countless times and it's the exact same every single time. I think what makes this stand out from the rest is that they make a house sauce for the Pho. Of course you can still ask for chili oil but this house sauce you can't beat. I've even ordered this to go and eating it at home feels as if I'm in the restaurant. This place is a true joke in the wall family owned restaurant. What an awesome little hole in the wall with the best food! We went here for a family birthday. There were 5 of us and 3/5 got the brisket pho and praised it very highly. We started with the shrimp tempura as well which was pretty good. The table also tried the banh mi and the stir fried shrimp noodles. Everything was great but the shrimp noodles ended up being a table favorite. The flavors were out of this world. My only complaint was all the shrimp still had the tails on. I enjoyed the Bun Thit Nuong "Pork" Vermicelli Bowl. Every bite was a delight, pork flavorful, fresh vegetables crisp, sweet shrimp, & Al dente noodles. Great bowl of pho and I've had it all across the states. Flavorful broth, excellent meat to noodle ratio, decent prices for what you get. My gf and I monitor their Facebook for the occasional announcement, and pounce when it's here. BBH takes pho and elevates it with more: beef shank, lemongrass, spicy sausage, and love It also has pork blood, which is optional, but my Filipino gf loves it... adds texture. Come get it this weekend! If you like heat, request a side of their Habanero spice sate. A quick update to highlight this restaurant and its consistently flavorful pho. When my mind is on soup, my thought quickly lands here. While they have starters on the menu, my preference is to pick the brisket pho and add an egg, then save my stomach only for this! Small space and close tables but folks seem to rotate as best as possible to not be on top of each other for long. Would be tough for a large group. The atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant. They give you homemade sauce because of the shortage of sriracha sauce, but it's very spicy. Please use a little bit. While paying for my food, I looked at the receipt and was surprised to see a suggested tip. Is tipping now starting at 30 percent? I have been eating at Vinbun ever since they opened several years ago. They have become part of our weekly routine with Pho Friday. We exclusively eat take out, enough the owners have started to tease me about it, lol. I have eaten everything on the menu and can say you cannot go wrong with anything. Meatball Pho is a staple and the specials are always a pleasant surprise. The traditional pho with the sliced beef is delicious. Fresh beef slices cooked perfectly in the hot broth is quite the delicacy. The broth always retains so much heat that process of eating a whole bowl can easily last a half hour and still be warm. The chicken wings are some of the best wings I have ever had, out of ALL wing spots. Adding the homemade spice kicks up the flavor to 100. The spice has become a standard condiment in my house. The staff is super friendly, a wonderful family owned restaurant right in Middletown. You haven't eaten Vietnamese food until you have eaten here, or visited Vietnam. :) read more

Have you had Vietnamese coffee with eggnog cream on top then scooped up with crispy fried donut stick?? If not, you need to try this at VinBun like I did today. I made the drive ALL the way to Middletown just to try this. I was rewarded for my efforts. That egg cream is rich, creamy but not too sweet - a high praise by an Asian palate. Once you've devoured the cream, there is still strong, bitter, yet sweet coffee on the bottom. I was so happy! I also had to try the "eggrolls" aka cha gio. I can report it is one of the best I've had: crispy, filled with ground pork, wood ear, carrots and glass noodles. It is very savory and not greasy. Service was friendly and efficient. The fresh Thai Basil is one of the many things that gives this place a unique experience. The Combination Pho does have tripe, which is an acquired taste. I would avoid that for a first-timer. One thing you won't notice is a large restaurant. This place is really small! In fact, that's part of the charm. Also, their music selection is always on point. They haven't been open for too long but I'm glad they seem to be doin well! I've only been here once so far but definitely top notch for me at this point and can't wait to go back. I was excited to get to try VinBun once I saw that it opened because: 1. I had a new lunch hour spot to try near my office 2. We don't have hardly any Vietnamese options on this side of town I love working in Middletown because there are so many food options, but this place is chain city... so having a cool local place like VinBun pop up is a breath of fresh air. I tried the brisket pho and it was wonderful, and you get a large portion for a good price.
