Virtual wine tasting on saturdays plus tempesta market charcuterie!
    Lexie V.

Quarantine has brought out the most creative side of humanity and I am here for it! My brother invited me, my husband and a couple of our friends to join a Virtual Wine Tasting Vin Chicago put on tonight. I didn't even know they do this weekly (i think its weekly) until now! But you better believe it won't be my last time joining. It was very fun and informational. We were able to pick. Up our wines earlier in the day, learn about them and the region they come from as well as ask questions to the experts....all from the comfort of our living room with 60+ people on Zoom. It was so much fun! Felt nice to have "plans" and "get together" with others. You can turn off the camera and microphone if thats not your thing and just listen and drink. The wines tonight were like $13 a bottle- so very affordable. Can't wait for the next one! Pro Tip: We got a charcuterie board from Tempest Market to snack on during the tasting

New name and new facade, same great knowledgeable staff.

Great selection, great price, helpful staff. Was able to find really nice wines that didn't break the bank.

I only went inside to escape the light rain, but I ended up having the nicest experience with the two owners, a sweet older couple. They immediately made me feel welcome, chatting with me, giving me suggestions on places to check out in the city, and just radiating kindness. By the time I was ready to leave, it was pouring outside. They offered me a plastic bag to protect my things and encouraged me to stay until the rain slowed down. It was such a small gesture, but it really left an impression. While I was there I also noticed how warmly they greeted every customer who came in, and people were genuinely happy to stop by. This was such a memorable and heartwarming first impression of Chicago. If you are ever in the area, I highly recommend stopping by this shop to say hello to the wonderful owners. They truly make their customers feel cared for.

Of course I got distracted and browsed the store. There was souvenirs in this store as well, which I was not expecting. I wound up picking up winter gloves because I forgot mine at home. I then discovered a clearance cart that had a variety of boozes in there. I was super excited to find Malort! I found a unique cocktail recipe years ago that had Malort in it but was never able to find it in FL. Little did I know, it is very well known in Chicago! Obviously I purchased a little 6 pack. I browsed the aisles somewhat but did not find anything that caught my eye. I also did not want to purchase a bunch of bottles to walk with a couple of blocks. As I was waiting for the person in front of me to finish, the employee asked the customer to please step ahead so I could put my items down. He was already done and taking his time doing something else so I felt that was thoughtful of him to do for me. They were very polite and quick. The process seemed reasonable for the most part but the souvenirs were overpriced. The store was clean and tidy as well.

Upper management really needs to get its act together. It's not just staffing issues, as medication refills are typically partial making it necessary to make 2-3 trips to the pharmacy to get the total prescription. This is clearly not an issue with staff, but management who is trying to have minimal staff to save money. I'd highly encourage everyone to move their prescriptions to Amazon and have them delivered. What was once an incredibly frustrating experience 2-3 times a month is now something I no longer think about and is stress-free. Based off of the other reviews, pharmacy issues seems to be a theme here.

The pharmacy department's lack of communication and consideration for customers' time is extremely disappointing.

It was by happenstance, through an email from Whiskey Magazine about their favorite spots in Chicago, that I found out about Warehouse Liquors. For the uninitiated, the Warehouse Liquors web site is the best place to start, as it features a comprehensive schedule of in-store tastings. Weekly tastings are from 5pm-7pm Thursdays (whiskey and beer) and 5pm-7pm Fridays (wine). The storefront is deceptively small, as it features a vast selection of spirits and wines, including a cooler at the back of the store and a curated assortment of food (snacks). I came here for a wine tasting on Friday in early spring (better late than never with this review) and now feel remiss that I have not been back here more often. It was a perfect date night activity and kickoff to the weekend. Now that cooler temperatures are here, I look forward to returning to sample some of the whiskeys and scotches and making some considered purchases. The personalization and the fact that this is a locally owned business sets Warehouse Liquors apart from the rest.
