Our group of 8 ate here on our first night in Capri! We were the first table seated during dinner and after the space quickly filled up with diners. The servers were beyond attentive as we were figuring out the menu. We ordered a ton of dishes to share, as we always do. I did however order the braised short ribs and it was delicious. The grillled octopus was also a standout dish. Apparently, this restaurant is extremely popular amongst the starts. The walls at the entrance are adorned with loving photos of the rich and famous people that have dined at Villa Verde. The service was as exquisite as the food. We lucked up on finding this restaurant as soon as it opened for lunch. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. It was like I just walked into Cheers! The food was amazing. My favorite was frito misto. It was perfectly fried, seasoned well, and not at all greasy. Everyone in my group raves about their dishes. It was great to see the pictures of all of the celebrities, performers. professional athletes. And politicians posted all over the restaurant. We sat in the covered patio area. If you are in Capri, this spot is a must. It's totally a vibe. Aside from this spot being famous for many celebrities that go there, the food, service and ambiance were all amazing. Towards end of our dinner, they started playing dance music and everyone started dancing and getting really fun. After a certain time, the downstairs of this place is a dance spot that's super fun. I looked for a place that fellow Yelps had a chance to review. This hit the spot. The seating outside was pleasant and comfortable. The food was also good. We made a couple request to change the ingredients on our pizza and the were very accommodating. We also asked for olives, WOW. Big green olives! 5 Star food AND 5 Star service for me, averaged with 1 Star for the fact that a person at every single table surrounding me ON AN INDOOR PATIO people lit up smoking, causing me to almost have an asthma attack before dessert . But, if a cloud of second hand smoke isn't an issue for you, by all means go check it out! The wallpaper of celebrity photos as soon as you walk in was impressive. The owner was very present, seated everyone, and circulated and supervised. Ambience is dressy casual (in Capri most people seem to dress up for any "sit down" meal). The smoking did bother me, though. On mainland Italy we saw prevalent smoking in outdoor restaurant seating, but none in indoor areas (no longer allowed) but I guess in Capri anything goes? But on to the food: 1)When in Capri, get the caprese salad. This one was good. Could've done without the arugula tainting the center though. :) 2)Margherita pizza was soooo good. The dough/crush was delicious. The fresh mozzarella was fresh and creamy. Check out the lightly charred bottom in the picture. It was pizza genius. It came out in about 4 minutes!! 3)We has fresh pasta with shelled langostine (a special). I definitely recommend asking your waiter for the specials, what's fresh, and his recommendations. He didn't steer us wrong here. Sauce was flavorful, reminiscent of a seafood bisque. Pasta perfect aldente. 4)dessert- tiramisu was melt in your mouth delicious, but I wouldn't get the semifreddo again. We saw both tourists and "real Italians" eating here, so it was a good mix. I didn't see any tables not get bread, so I'm not sure what that one review was talking about. Loved that place! We went for my birthday and we got all the waiter to come and sing for me with lighting huge sunglasses and wigs!! It was super fun and a very nice touch! The only reason why I am giving this a 3 star is because our cod was frozen and not cooked properly, I regretted so much selecting that fish, it was a mistake. But the caprese salad was good. The pulpo/octopus was good but not the best I had, lack of spices. So great setting and service but the food quality could be better. The good thing is they have a bar downstairs, so it is super convenient to go out dancing after your dinner, you will also see some of the servers there after they are done with their shift. Villaverde was our dine like an Italian night. This meant a relaxed, 4 hour dinner where we talked, drank and enjoyed ourselves. They have an extensive menu so we started out with an octopus salad. One of the things that's great about this salad is it's not like the typical 'fried calamari' pieces you might get in the states. The octopus was sizable pieces cooked to a light perfection and mixed with greens, crushed toast and more. A really nice starter for the evening. Next, we got the first course. My friend got the shrimp risotto and I the seafood pasta. Both were amazing but I did like the risotto best. There were small shrimp pieces in the risotto and whatever liquid they used incorporated a smooth shrimp flavor onto every bite. Throughout the meal we had a light and dry rose that paired well with the seafood. After the pasta we ordered some dessert and limoncello. We then had another kind of digestive liquor similar to amaretto but not as sweet. This evening was fantastic overall and the waiters were very nice. They showed us a disco club below the restaurant and gave us complimentary limoncello. Although the price is higher than you'd expect given the quality of the food, it's a good place to go to see the nightlife and people. read more

The food here was so so good -- it had the makings of five-star quality! Honestly, this meal would have been my favorite of my entire trip to Italy if it hadn't been for the absentee service. The space is beautiful, and in the evening, the restaurant was packed! It was clearly the place to be, and I'm so glad our hotel recommended having dinner here! My pasta pomodoro was amazing, as was my mom's ravioli, but the burrata appetizer was the best of all. It's not the typical Italian-sized portions here, but what they lack in quantity they make up for in quality. The only slight bummer, as I'd mentioned, was the service. They seemed to have forgotten about us, and I had to ask several times about my glass of wine until it finally came when we were completely done eating. Bigger groups seemed to get more attention, and same with the many many people who seemed to be celebrating birthdays. But I'd still come back because the food was THAT good. We went to this place during our tour of the island of Capri. It was recommended by our tour operator in Positano. We went on October 31, at the end of the season. The food was OK but I had better at our hotel. The wait staff was not that attentive and we had to ask for bread, olive oil, and balsamic (which was thicker and more syrup like than usual). Fine parts of meal, but I just felt better food and value in the Amalfi Coast restaurants. Everything in Capri other than our hotel (mid-May visit) seemed an extra bit costly. Island is still worth a couple day visit as has excellent paths and views, and no reason not to eat here. There for lunch. Owner? and waiters who are in a majority of the hundreds of pictures they have up on the walls were there at the time. Grilled octopus salad had large chunks of it, and got slightly chewy. Not bad, but "least good" of two Italian trips. Wife's sea bass didn't seem as fresh as others. My spaghetti w/ clams had a surprising amount of butter. Will say the white chocolate rolls included with a couple of deserts were excellent. Yelp map does not show it in right place. Our tour guide, possibly getting a kickback, overtly recommended the entire group eat at Villa Verde and she would be hanging out there during our four or five hours of free time on the island. Boy, was she right! There is something about authentic pizza in a wood/coal fired oven served with only the best ingredients from around the island and region. We ordered two pizzas, the fresh seasonal salad, and my son ordered his second or third eggplant parmigiana. He ate a few pieces of pizza too. The Margarita pizza was as always in Italy, dressed with the most simple but flavorful local ingredients. The extra love and experience in this pizza shows through and through. The tomato sauce was some of the best I have ever had. Just the sauce would have made the best pizza. When you add basil, and fresh local mozzarella... oh my! The second pizza was local ham, mozzarella, parmigiana, mushrooms, artichokes, and a few ingredients I forget. The ingredients blended together so well, we thought pizza might be ruined forever, in the states. Next time we have a friend or we just revisit Capri, you will see us again! Wow! Loooved this restaurant. The entrance is full of pictures with the owner. Clearly a celebrity place. The restaurant is beautiful in itself. They have models walking around the restaurant while you eat showing you the nicest Italian clothes. The food was sooo great and delicious! My husband and I were on a tour of Italy for our honeymoon one of our stops was capri. We decided to go off from the group and wanting some good and real Italian food we looked up some reccomendatio a on yelp. Everyone's recommendation on here is quite correct Casa Verde is pricy (for lunch standards/ no difference in Italy that I have seen), however if you are from a big city in the US there prices are on par. Ps Capri is a pricy city like all big cites in US (Miami, NYC, Chicago). However the food was worth every penny we spent. It was the best food we have had so far. The caprese salad was to die for. We have had it everywhere we have gone so far and here was the best. Their restaurant personal balsamic was the best thing about the restaurant if it wasn't uncouth to stick it in my purse and run!!! I would have. My husband had the seafood pasta and loved it. I the pasta with tomatoes also very well cooked. Alright. This is my favorite restaurant on the island. The first time I went here was for my cousin's rehearsal dinner. She got married on the island so we were there for a few days. After the rehearsal dinner, the place was so good that we returned there for dinner twice again before leaving Capri. This restaurant is a hidden gem. Its definitely off the beaten path. There are quite a lot of stars who favor this place as it is very hidden with spectacular food and service. I have been back there over the years and each time I have been there, the food, wine, service, and atmosphere have been awesome. I highly recommend this restaurant for amazing food, a very hidden gem on Capri, a romantic lunch or dinner, and definitely a good place if you want something off the beaten path. When I say this restaurant is dressy, just wear something nice that fits the Italian vibe. Smart Casual would be my best recommendation but you can get a feel for it when you get to Capri. By far one of the best, if not the best restaurant in Capri! It was sooooo good we had dinner there, and ended up going for lunch again the next day. We might even go again before we leave today. The mozzarella - caprese is UNREAL! The most amazing mozzarella we have ever had in our life!!!!!! The pizza was delicious and the truffle spaghetti was incredible. Writing this review is making my mouth water. You need to try this place if you're in Capri. Even if just for the mozzarella. You will thank me. Trust!!!! And the staff is great. We're on our honeymoon. Husband got sick from the Octopus salad here. All he ate all afternoon so we know that's what it is. We've been cooped up in our hotel room all day instead of going on our boat tour and enjoying the beautiful city. For the number of photos of celebrities they have around the city and their restaurant entrance you think they'd take more pride in their food and ingredients (as true Italians do). Lame and selfish. How about you get over your ego of plastering your face around town and focus on making good product that doesn't make your clients sick. Just a thought. read more
