STAY AWAY. I waited…read morea while to write this review since I wanted to let my anger abate and I was busy with other things. But months later I feel a moral obligation to warn people about this company. If like me, you will likely read the reviews and the owner's responses and suspect that they are a good company and that the bad reviews are just from impossible people. But they quell the bad reviews with small payouts and gag orders (see the photo). They use contract workers who may or may not be able to get the job done. The discounts they promise never come true. In fact they quoted more than I would pay as a regular retail customer, for every single item I asked them about. (notice that they don't list the specifics of their discounts on their website...) When asked to come through on what they promise, they are unhelpful at best and often nasty (read the owner's comments on bad reviews to get a taste). When your project has gone on way too long, they haven't come through on any promises and you are at wits end, they may offer you a small sum to not write a bad review. I suspect that many of us, on modest budgets, take the money just to cut some of our losses. Before you get taken in by the good reviews and the pretty pictures, read the reviews again. Notice there are almost no reviews in the middle, only really bad and really glowing ones. The good ones all start to sound the same. Go to a website where employees write reviews and note that many say the company writes their own good reviews. See that gag order and think of how many people they silenced. I am out a lot of money and hope this review saves someone else.

Over the course of a year, I had to work with 3 separate designers because 2 of them quit the company, which caused huge delays in my project. The first time, the company never even called me to let me know. It was only after months of emails and phone calls did I find out he had left and they realized they needed to assign someone else to work with me. He also left after a month. When I finally was paired with a proactive, responsive designer, things initially were going well but we eventually ran into issues with cost. Despite having voiced wanting to be conservative on cost, I kept on being shown very high cost items (if I'm not willing to spend $4,000 on a dresser, do you think I will be interested in spending $6,000 on two cube custom upholstered ottomans?) Finally, they misrepresented some of the pieces to me. They rendered an $1,800 table in the living room like it would be a small side table between two chairs. The table arrived and it was a completely different size that was not appropriate at all for the space( see pictures). When I asked about it, I was told it looks nice in the space elsewhere and that was it- returning it would be on me including the 25% restocking fee and shipping. All in all, not an experience I would recommend for anyone.

D&G was hired to stage our home for sale. They and the realtors suggested we refinish the floors in the home before putting it on the market, which we agreed to do and received a bill from D&G for the floor resurfacing which we paid. D&G then moved furnishing into the home. We noticed some minor scratches on the brand new floors after the furnishing were moved in but let it go. When it came time to move the furnishings out, I asked that we be notified what day and time D&G would be moving out the furnishings so that we could ensure there was no further damage, but was not given a time. D&G entered my home without authorisation and significantly damaged the newly finished floors (see pics attached) while moving out the furnishings. I have made multiple calls to D&G attempting to have this resolved, but have yet to be connected with someone who is able to resolve the matter. I've been told these individuals are traveling. In the meantime, we are waiting to have the floors fixed before moving furniture into the home. I will update this review if someone from D&G calls me back and offers an amicable solution. I'm someone who would like to see all small business owners succeed, but also believes in standing behind one's service. Update: I spoke with the proprietor of D&G. I am appreciative that she called me back. She refused to take responsibility for the scratches. Instead she blamed Prime Realty who maintained control of the unit during the sales process. Prime Realty did provide D&G a key to enter the home. In sum, the deep scratches in the floor were not present prior to the removal of the furniture by D&G. They were present immediately after the removal of the furniture. It would have been appreciated if the company would have taken responsibility for the damage.

George and his team were responsive from our first outreach inquiring about their services, right up until after the project was completed, when they checked in to answer any lingering questions and get our feedback. They were highly professional, responded to emails promptly, and offered excellent design ideas and suggestions while taking our desires and feedback onboard. We felt like collaborators on this project, while also feeling like we had experts guiding us through the process. The end result far exceeded even my wildest hopes. It looks beautiful, is highly functional, and was great value for our investment. Francis failed to create a cohesive vision and design, failed to put together color palettes that worked with the existing space and was not able to source appropriate products and fabrics. His design aesthetic is next to zero. We later found out that he is not a trained professional or expert and has an unsuccessful background in ballet and contracting, but will tell you otherwise. To be specific, we engaged Francis for a consulting project where he would create a design/shopping list and hand it off to us so we could do the shopping ourselves. He initially agreed to this approach, but quickly tried to convince us to expand the scope for a full design project, which not surprisingly would increase the fees payable to him by 3.5X. In addition, Francis was incredibly impatient and condescending throughout the entire process. He would become visibly annoyed by questions/suggestions and did not respect our opinions/interests. He continually pushed his tasteless vision and would constantly tell us to get over our fears and give him control over the project. Francis missed the mark on every level. He is painful to work with and will waste your time and money.

We started our project at the beginning of COVID, and so all of our interactions were virtual, but Francis and his associates made the process feel like we were all together in the same room. We would always look forward to our weekly meetings, from going over our story and vision for our apartment, to creating blueprints, to making selections from the options he brought us. We were starting from scratch, which was quite overwhelming, but Francis made the process safe and enjoyable. He has guided me through two apartment restylings (not renovations) 30 years apart in two NYC boroughs. As others have said, he is a different kind of designer--and so full of ideas that at first it's overwheming, and you might wish you had 10 other homes to fill with his concepts. He sees possibilities that aren't immediately evident, and is a genius at furntiure and picture placement. I had a genuine midcentury table (not a West Elm copy) that I'd had for decades and it was just sitting forlornly in a corner in the new place because I didn't know what to do with it (It didn't seem to fit anywhere). I was also grousing about needing a coffee table and in less than a second Buddy picks up the table with one hand and plops it down in front of my couch (purchased with his guidance), saying, "Here's your coffee table." The table, although not ostensibly a coffee table, works perfectly there, even though I never saw that possibility and was getting ready to dump it on one of those marketplaces. It's a small example, but I think it capsulizes Buddy's approach. He was also spot on when it came to selecting lighting fixtures, and saved me from choosing rugs that would have made my place look like a Miami hotel lobby (I think that's what he said--I know his scathing critique of my choices referenced Florida or the Bahamas), steering me to much more stylish picks. Buddy's also an artist (he constructed and painted a screen for me decades ago--in the Cranberry Hole Road days--that I still use and that visitors still comment on) and a cognitive psychologist, which can come in handy when you're in the emotional throes of a move, a renovation or restyling. Give him a try, even if your place just needs a refresh, a new look. He'll help you choose what you need. Now I'm thinking of seeking his help for a closet renovation.
