Victoria Balson Interiors - Scarsdale, NY

Fast-forward seven years later, I've engaged Victoria in 3 different projects, and I refer her talents to my close friends. The stunning results from my Hoboken residence were only a precursor to her most recent work - transforming my Scarsdale house into a gorgeous home that I still fall in love with every day. I've found myself texting Victoria on numerous occasions expressing how happy I am in my beautiful home. Her natural ability and talent to mix and match colors, combine textures with woods, and metals were so on-point and the end-result was nothing less than fabulous. Victoria has all the qualities people seek in a talented designer - her style is sophisticated yet innovative, her vision is fresh yet artistic, and her approach is professional, intimate, patient, flexible and above all, Victoria is a tremendous collaborator. A few months ago, the Scarsdale project was close to completion, and as we sat in my driveway, I felt pangs of sadness and separation anxiety. It is clear that over seven years and different projects, I've not only found a phenomenal designer, but a dear friend. Thank you, Victoria! This testimonial is only a small 'thank you' for your hard work, dedication and everything you've given us.

D&G was hired to stage our home for sale. They and the realtors suggested we refinish the floors in the home before putting it on the market, which we agreed to do and received a bill from D&G for the floor resurfacing which we paid. D&G then moved furnishing into the home. We noticed some minor scratches on the brand new floors after the furnishing were moved in but let it go. When it came time to move the furnishings out, I asked that we be notified what day and time D&G would be moving out the furnishings so that we could ensure there was no further damage, but was not given a time. D&G entered my home without authorisation and significantly damaged the newly finished floors (see pics attached) while moving out the furnishings. I have made multiple calls to D&G attempting to have this resolved, but have yet to be connected with someone who is able to resolve the matter. I've been told these individuals are traveling. In the meantime, we are waiting to have the floors fixed before moving furniture into the home. I will update this review if someone from D&G calls me back and offers an amicable solution. I'm someone who would like to see all small business owners succeed, but also believes in standing behind one's service. Update: I spoke with the proprietor of D&G. I am appreciative that she called me back. She refused to take responsibility for the scratches. Instead she blamed Prime Realty who maintained control of the unit during the sales process. Prime Realty did provide D&G a key to enter the home. In sum, the deep scratches in the floor were not present prior to the removal of the furniture by D&G. They were present immediately after the removal of the furniture. It would have been appreciated if the company would have taken responsibility for the damage.

This is a review for both Robert Jenny Design and Robert Jenny Builders…read more I recently hired RJD / RJB for both the design and build phases of a complete kitchen renovation, and overall I'm very pleased with the results. During the design phase, my designer (Marlene) did a great job listening to what I wanted, and also observing my space and absorbing things I hadn't articulated. I provided her with general parameters, but didn't fill in all the details, both because I didn't know exactly what I wanted, and because I wanted to leave space for her to have input. She came up with a great first draft that was probably 80 - 90% of the way to the final design, and she made some great choices with regard to colors and layout - thing I might not have selected on my own, but really liked once I saw them. We then went back and forth and refined the design, with each of us providing useful input, and ultimately came up with something I really liked. During that phase she spent a lot of time walking me through different choices, and was very helpful. The design phase is billed by the hour, but I feel like I got my money's worth ten times over. It's ultimately a small percentage of the total cost, and was completely worth it since it delivered something I really liked. I initially wondered whether they might 'pad' the billing, but in no way do I feel that they did. If anything, it almost seemed like they under-billed relative to the time that was put in. Very fair pricing, and completely worth it. For the build phase, RJD completely gutted the old kitchen, then installed new tile flooring, cabinets, backsplash, appliances & lighting, and painted not only the kitchen but the main living space. Each part of the build was done properly, and at least to my untrained eye, seems to have been done in a quality way. Once the initial build was completed, the inspection revealed some minor defects in the finish of some the cabinet doors (the cabinet manufacturer's fault, not theirs), and they were very good about working with the cabinet dealer to get the doors replaced. In the end, I was completely satisfied with every detail of their workmanship, and the pricing for all the work seemed fair. They obtained all the necessary permits from the city and completed official inspections of the work at the end, so it was all above-board. In terms of cost, we settled on an initial budget, and they never pushed me to go with higher-cost items. They were very conscientious about trying to stay within my limit. Once the design was finalized, we agreed on the budget for the build phase, and they came in 100% on budget, not a nickel over. I was actually somewhat surprised at that, as I'd heard plenty of stories from other people who had used different contractors and seen costs go over-budget. I had steeled myself for that as a distinct possibility, and was happy to see things stay on track. The one way we did go over budget was with respect to time. During the design phase, I was told on several occasions that the work would take about two weeks to complete. In the end it actually took seven weeks, which was considerably longer than what I was expecting. Understand that, during renovations, your entire place is a mess: the room they're working on, the space they're using to store all the materials, adjoining rooms that get filled up with dust, etc., so it's an inconvenience to have them take longer than planned. Time delays aside, I was happy with RJD / RJB's work, and would contract with them again for future projects.

We contacted Christi and she helped create a vision for the room so it was not only a beautiful peaceful lounge but also doubled as a yoga room. I can now do yoga in my own home! The room is fantastic and without her guidance, I would have never created anything nearly as beautiful or as useful with that space. She also did a color consultation with us and selected amazing paint colors for our foyer and library. We love our photography and she came up with the idea of doing a gallery wall with canvas prints of our favorite vacation photos. People always comment on the gallery wall when they visit! Christi is a joy to work with, her rates are affordable, and her talent is undeniable. UPDATE 10/2016: I worked with Christi again on my new home in West Orange NJ. We purchased a 1925 home which was covered in beige and light blue paint lol! Once again I called on Christi to help me with paint colors. She knew I wanted a Nantucket vibe in the master bedroom and was able to create the perfect feeling with this beautiful Green-Gray color and it works perfectly with out white furniture. She picked the color for our guest room on her own, and I trusted her 100%! I didn't even see it until it was on the walls! The color is a beautiful purple shade and its fantastic! Lastly for color, I told her I wanted a cranberry color for the dining room. She was very honest with me and explained that our wood flooring had an orange hue to it, so the cranberry color I wanted was not the way to go... so she picked a color called Elderberry. It is a dark purple color that is amazing!! She was totally right and I can't even imagine how it would have looked if I hadn't called on her for her help & guidance! Whenever we have people over to out home, they always comment on what beautiful color choices we made... which I of course give Christi all of the credit for! She is the master of color! She has also helped me so much with other furnishings around the home and the yard. She is really the best and our secret weapon!!

My room is oddly shaped and presents many challenges including being a small space. Once christi came on board, she had a definite vision for the space way beyond what I could have imagined. It has turned out great, better than I could have ever done alone. Her taste is impeccable and I would highly recommend using her for any project large or small.
