First time here... Hopefully it becomes my new cleaners as I am moving to Reston. I'll let you know what I decide...

OK. This is the first of several reviews for Village Cleaners. I am moving to Reston and hoping they become my cleaner, tailor, shoe shiners and all things clothing care... They DO offer these services. Young is the seamstress & who took my order today, and she said they take in shirts for $20 - $25 ea. As others said, they don't honor the Yelp check-in deal and Young's explanation didn't exactly build trust: she said, "New owner here now. Changing name..." Interesting because all signage and receipt still says Village Square Cleaners. Hence the 2 stars... For now. Shirt laundering is just $1.95 each. They said they have 4 stores.

Brought in a favorite dressy blouse, the kind you save for times when you want to look especially professional and pulled together, like for a new client or special occasion ... Italian with a subtle white-on-white textured sheen. The kind of blouse you get excited about when you find in a store because it looks really classy. I was more than a little disappointed when they returned it to me with a dark stain on the collar point *that Village Square caused*... The blouse was in great shape before, only worn a few times and barely even needed a cleaning. When I pointed it out they shrugged and said they'd reclean it. No improvement. They put it through another time, same result: they were unable to get out the stain that they caused. So they ruined the shirt, you can hardly wear a dress shirt with a nearly 1/2" dark spot on the tip of the collar. It was expensive, too. The owner was hard to reach, and basically didn't want to hear about it -- no accountability, no "please bring it back and I'll take care of it myself"... just terribly disinterested customer service. This happened several years ago, I haven't been back since, maybe they're better now. Remember that Seinfeld bit about awful dry cleaners? This place is right in line with that, in my opinion.

Just FYII: this business does not honor the one-item-free promotion. Doesn't even seem aware of it.

They have raised their prices considerably for regular drycleaning and repairs. They do decent…read morework, but there customer service STINKS. Womens clothes can cost up to $20 a piece for drycleaning and I had my husbands pants hemmed to the tune of $16 a pair. This wouldn't normally have been a problem, except that they changed their price from the ticket after we dropped them off. They held his pants hostage as they jacked up the price by almost double from what my receipt said. When I questioned them, they yelled at me and said I was cheap. I paid and vowed never to walk in there again. We spent an average of $50 a month there, so it's their loss. My advice: Go there for only special garments or repairs. Not a pleasant experience.

The Price? 1.45 for shirts…read more5.50 for pants $1.45 for shirts is great. $5.50 for pants? I'm not so sure... (the only other dry cleaner I've used was a local shop in Ellicott City, MD where drying cleaning was under $1... I was so spoiled) My stuff came out completely clean, but I didn't have any particular stubborn stains for them to get out. I noticed that they didn't crease my shirt sleeves, which is something I never paid attention to before but I definitely notice now. I'd much rather they do that... the shirt seems much more crisp with the creases...just a matter of opinion I guess. The garments were packaged and hung in the usual dry cleaner way. They take plastic for orders over $10. If you drop off your goods before 10am they guarantee them to be done by 5:00pm the same day (They're open till 7 I believe.) If it weren't for the pant prices and the sleeve creases I give them 5 stars. Overall they seem to be a pretty good dry cleaner.
