What makes this especially frustrating is that my appointment was still more than two weeks away, which gave me plenty of reasonable time to send inspiration photos and explain exactly what I was looking for. I work an extremely demanding and intense job, so I'm not always able to respond immediately, but I absolutely respond within a reasonable amount of time. If there was a strict five-day deadline for sending photos or discussing the service, that should have been clearly communicated before canceling a confirmed appointment and giving the spot away. The way this was handled felt inconsiderate and very unprofessional. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not recommend this salon and will be taking my business elsewhere.

I brought in some reference photos and when my hair was fully cut and styled I wasn't sure if I liked it or not. I walked out feeling egg like, but after washing, and styling on my own I was a little happier with it. Unfortunately, in my opinion, having your hair cut is an intimate experience where meshing with your stylist is important (at least to me) and it all felt very impersonal. It felt rather rushed, and at times I felt the blade get stuck in my hair because too much was being cut with very swift motions. I have thick hair, and smaller pieces are best to work a blade through. I am grateful to have been fit in sooner, to have cut off my hair, but I give the hair cutting aspect a 3/5.

The best salon in the greater Sacramento area, where you get a San Francisco-quality haircuit at Sacramento prices. I have been going to Rebekah (the salon owner) for eight years. She is a truly gifted stylist who takes her time to do a fantastic job. We've experimented with many different colors and cuts over the years, everything from an extreme a-line, to a short boyish bob, to long and layered with thick bangs. And she's never given me a bad haircut or color. If I don't like something, she will fix it. And she's such a perfectionist that her haircuts are truly immaculate. Rebekah also does the Brazilian Blowout, the new formula without formaldehyde), which made my hair as smooth as silk. She's also very reasonably priced. She did my hair and makeup for my wedding recently, and it looked absolutely gorgeous and modern, not prom-bridal. She's a goddess! I've sent many friends and family, including lots of men, to Rebekah and everyone has stuck with her which is another testament. She does a fantastic job with men's hair as well. The Village Salon itself is this beautiful spacious salon with a modern Italian feel in the heart of the Fair Oaks village. It's definitely a place where you can relax and enjoy a little pampering unlike some of the snootier big salons around town. The place is kept immaculate and all the girls there are friendly and fun. When my previous stylist dyed my hair black (which isn't what I wanted) and then fell off the face of the earth I began my search for a new stylist to fix it. I met up with numerous stylists and their lack of confidence to get my black hair to light brown/blonde again was very unsettling. Then I made an appointment with Lisa from The Village Salon. When I met with Lisa I knew instantly that she was confident in what she does. When she looked at my botched hair job she knew exactly what to do and I was so relieved to finally find someone I trusted to fix my hair. I didn't give her much direction, just told her to fix it and she has far exceeded my expectations. Within a few months she has gotten my hair almost completely blonde/light brown again without damaging it. It still looks and feels healthy. She is absolutely amazing and I will not go to anyone else. I trust her completely and it is apparent that she definitely knows what she is doing. She always works around my schedule too which is nice. I highly recommend Lisa, especially if you have high standards for a hair stylist. I've been coming here for about 5 years and have sent friends and family in. My stylist does an exceptional job and never fails to impress me with her new skills and professionalism. We recently have done a pale, icy blonde tone which I'm getting a lot of compliments on. It took us a couple appointments to achieve the really light blonde tone and I appreciate that my stylist does it the healthy way and won't fry my hair. She likes to under promise and overachieve. She knows what's she's doing!What's neat is we have done so many looks from short and sassy or dark and exotic to long and Victoria's Secret model looking... to now super blonde!! Im never bored or disappointed with my hair. Everyone is friendly here and no one is stuck up. It's comfort meets upscale and I like that!! Mandy has been doing my hair for years and years...at this salon and many before. I have to say I love coming here. The location is great. You can go grab a bite or shop around when shes done with your hair. I'm always super happy with my results. I usually just give Mandy a general idea of what I would like, and let her do her thing. The results are always amazing and I leave feeling like a new woman! I brought my son with me once and he had been wanting blue hair, so in between my hair and other things she was doing she bleached and added some blue in his hair. He was so excited. Mandy is amazing!!!! She has been cutting and coloring my thick hair for a decade and I wouldn't go to anyone else. She is also very chill so you can chat if you're in the mood or just close your eyes and relax. I can go to her with half an idea of what I want and she can figure out what would be best and make me happy. I get so many compliments on my haircut and people tell me they didn't know I color my hair which is crazy because I'm a 40-year-old blonde. Also, love the salon. I love this salon! I love the spacious modern feel, and the location in Old Fair Oaks is perfect. It is clean, smells great and they carry excellent products. I even love the jewelry and little extras they have there. Caroline does my hair and my teenage son's hair. I can not put into words Caroline's gift with color. She gets it perfect every time.
