Today was supposed to be my third visit to this salon. I don't go often because I travel quite a bit and honestly, my hair (and style if you want to call it that) is super low maintenance. I booked the appointment several weeks ago and was looking forward to a nice relaxing cut and highlights ... just need to blend in the grey... I don't mind the silver... just looking for more uniformity between the color of my youth and what it is now. And man! I needed a proper cut. My hair has been under a LOT of stress lately and frankly, it's falling out by the handfuls. The stylist with whom I first met, several years ago, has moved on and the stylist I met with last time was ok but not stellar. I selected a top rated stylist from their menu for this time around and was feeling optimistic- I was greeted promptly and taken back to her chair. I was offered a beverage and gratefully accepted. Now. I confess that it is ALWAYS my practice and my habit to shower and wash my hair before I leave the house. Today was no different. And I know that the stylists prefer to begin with dry hair but in every instance prior to today, the stylists greet me and say something to the effect of, "I'm just going to dry your hair a bit before we get started." It's a game we play and it has never been a problem... before today. Today, it was, "I'm so and so and I'm going to be your stylist. Did you wash your hair before you came today?" "Yes I did." A. Then said, "Well NEXT time... just come in with dry hair..." To which I replied, "Never gonna happen..." Very likely she did nothing wrong and was very much in the right... but delivery is everything... we'd never met and I have pretty significant social anxiety... again... no way she could know that but everything from there felt like an attack... and then she wanted to calculate the price in front of me... she announced it would be $350.00 and she told me that's what I'd be paying and she just wanted me to know. Well all of a sudden I felt like she was judging me like I don't have the money to pay so I said "I need to keep it under $300.00... $350.00 is a car payment..." She said she'd have to talk to her manager... I told her I'd just take the haircut... for$85.00... she then launched into, "well you booked time for a full cut and color..." My anxiety took over, I started to panic and couldn't get out of the chair or drape fast enough. I tried to discuss it with the manager and the manager defended the stylist as being "One of their top stylists..." I have no doubt that she is and again... delivery is everything... before you start criticizing and condemning an adult who very clearly functions in society... ask yourself, "How would I feel if the first thing someone said was 'you need to...'" Perhaps they judged me on my attire. Torn jeans, baggy shirt, stretched out sweatshirt and scuffed up uggs... it's possible... and I was prepared to pay 350.00 and even tip afterward... but I would rather go to Supercuts than subject myself to that kind of arrogant condemnation... I never had any trouble with the previous stylists and in fact, I bought products afterward... and I'm a very generous tipper... but no ma'am. Not today and I will never be back. First rule in Customer service? Not that the customer is always right... but make the customer feel comfortable... today I felt like I was being judged like I'd staggered in off the street. I didn't. I'm actually a business owner myself... and I wouldn't dream of talking to a customer the way you addressed me today. Never judge a book by its cover ladies... and to Alejandra... if someone you're just meeting comes in for the first time to your chair and are going to spend 350.00 with you and they have wet hair, what you should say is, "So great to meet you. I'm excited to help you today... I'm just going to dry your hair a bit so I can get a better idea of what we are going to do today..." Start there. Life will be a whole lot easier for everyone involved. And even after I expressed my concern to the manager, they had the audacity to charge me a $50.00 cancellation fee... that's pretty epic! Ballsy even... it will be the last dollar you ever get out of me! read more

I went in for a trim, and the haircut turned out great. It's not the best looking space, looks a little run down and not modern, but the staff working there are friendly and know what they are doing. So if you want a no frills place to get a quality hair cut, I would check them out. Prices are fair but could be high for some people. The color prices are high and they could offer cheaper root touch ups for sure. Overall good experience. read more

While I've been pleased with Willo at both Fountains and this location at Quail Pointe, it's still worth the drive to get pampered and beautified by the awesome Jess! Thankfully found her hears ago when I struggled with needing help for thinning hair for the first time in my life. She's been so helpful and knowledgeable in general hair care and styles but especially helpful for the specific need of changing hair for me as I age. My hair now is healthier and happier so I would highly recommend. Each stylist in the salon is very nice and supportive in truly treating their clients with care. So they do great work, with that being said it feels a few steps away from complete extortion. The prices advertised and listed are not what you will be charged, you will actually pay hundred of dollars more than what is listed. To do a partial balayage with a haircut was $400 and this wasn't even with their highest grade level of cosmetologist (I went with someone in the mid-range). Following the service every 3wks or so you will receive the same text message encouraging you to book an appointment and that they will give you a hair mask ($15 value). My hair looked good, however, there isn't a way in good conscience to justify paying this amount for a partial balayage and cut. Maybe if it was a full. It left a very bad taste in my mouth, it made me feel taken advantage of. I've gone only once yet I've probably received over 10+ text messages telling me if I book by a certain date that I will receive a free hair mask. I just felt very taken advantage of by the entire experience. If you are charging this much for a semi-permanent color that will only last a few weeks and only partial coloring, shoot can we at least get a glass of wine or something. It was way too expensive for what I received. This was the most ripped off I have ever felt getting my hair done hands down and their text messages are only a constant reminder of being extorted and overcharged. read more

I came to Abby with no hair style. It was down to my waist and it just laid there so it was ready to cut off all the old brown and donate it. I showed Abby what I wanted. She washed my hair, cut and styled it. There were some elements that I wanted refined and she took the feedback well. She is a "level 3 designer" so the hair cut cost $75. The Willo Salon by Aveda in Citrus Heights is definitely worth the wait. I was unable to get a same day service, however, they scheduled me in that same week for a Blowout and Hair Mask. As an industry professional myself, I have high standards but a busy schedule so I was nervous initially to try a new stylist. Cecily is very professional, knowledgeable about all the Aveda products as well as up to date with what's current & relevant for hair. I had an Appointment with Alejandra. This was my first time seeing her, I found her on Instagram and I liked her work. She did some haircuts similar to what I wanted so I decided to make am Appointment with her. Upon my arrival I was greeted by a girl, she was very nice and walked me over to my chair and asked if I wanted anything to drink. Jennie touched up moms hair and gave her good color. A slight trim to keep everything healthy and mom love the look. My daughter will now be ready for her junior year high school pictures. I've been having Katy color and highlight my hair for about a year now. It's been a tough job for her because I use to be a box dye at home gal with nearly black hair (covering my gray), and wanted to go much lighter. Unlike in the movies, this is just not a one step voila process. Unless you want fried hair, you must take it slowly. Katy has taken extra care balancing my discretion to keep my hair long while achieving over time the lighter color and highlights I've been dreaming of. She has replaced my black hair with a beautiful golden caramel blonde (which now when my roots grow in I no longer look like a skunk). My hair is full, long, soft, and healthy! DO NOT COME HERE. I REPEAT. DO NOT COME HERE. I spent almost $300 (including tip) to get a balayage/highlight in my hair from a stylist (I know she knew what she was doing, because she showed me photos on her instagram) to just have her ruin my hair (I'll link photos below). I'm beyond disappointed, upset, and disgusted with the way they handle their clients. Here's how it all started: I showed up 30 minutes early to my appointment, which I had to book with someone else, because the girl I originally wanted didn't work there anymore. I get escorted to the back to get a coffee and scroll throgh my pinterest to show the stylist what I wanted done. We get to the chair and we start discussing the history of my hair, whats been done to it, and what we wanted to do. Before we get started, there was a red flag, which I felt like I should have just noticed and got up and left (we'll get to that later). On the form it just briefly states/laysout, that if they damage, make your scalp blister, make you suffer emotionally, that they're not liable. ( Which is red flag number 1). I read through the contract (which really isn't a contract, it's a "guest form"). This seemed super odd to me condisering, anywhere I've ever been to, as far as getting my hair done, I've never had to sign such a thing. The only reason I signed this form was because I felt like I could trust my stylist, due to the presentation and photos she showed me. I was confident in her ability to do my hair in the beginning. BOY WAS I WRONG. First of all, I felt so uncomfortable for the 3-4 hours I was there. I don't know if it was her vibe, but we didn't connect. I couldn't be myself and I felt SO awkward ( I literally had the worst 3-4 hours of my life). We barely talked, I tried to connect with her by asking questions and then sat in silence for a while. Beyond the point, we get to the wash bowl and she's rinsing out my hair and she goes back to get the toner for my hair ( I can hear her and her co-workers gossiping in the back. red flag number 2). She comes back and apologizes for taking too long and starts with the toner. It wasn't relaxing and everything from there on out just felt rushed. I was asking her how the color started to lift and she seemed hesitant to show me and tell me (red flag number 3). We get to the chair and she started to blow dry. Basically we finish and I go up front to pay and go home to take a better look at my hair. My hair was SO bad and uneven. I started to cry. There were two different types of balayage/highlight happening to my hair. We agreed to use a level 7 toner, because we both knew it wouldn't be like a blonde in the photo and the level 7 was supposed to tone it out. Basically only one side of my hair got tone, let alone the other side didn't even look toned, if it even was. It was still brassy. Here's where it gets even worse. I tried to call back like 3 times to get a hold of the owner, it was a nightmare. A. LITERAL. NIGHTMARE. She was super nice to me at first and was making it seem like she cared. She offered to do an adjustment, which I had actually booked with another gal at the same salon to fix my hair. Because my experience was so bad, I didn't trust anyone to touch my hair, let alone re-do it. I had expressed to her that I DID NOT want to come back and just wanted a refund. She said that she would only be able to give me back half of what I spent on my hair or do the adjustments. Then, we're literally on the phone for almost an hour bickering back and forth. Which then she gives me a third option, she asked me ," If I give you back a full refund, will you write a bad review"? (red flag number 4). She was asking me invasive questions, making side remarks about how she wouldn't want to deal with bigger issues, if I got my full refund. I've literally never felt so threatened and uncomfortable in my life. I honestly didn't want to go through the headache. I called back and told her to just KEEP the money. I did pay for a service and had this girl work on my hair for almost 4 hours (which by the way, I still tipped 15%, even though I hated my hair). I wanted to speak up, but I didn't feel comfortable. They clearly needed the money more than I needed to get my hair fixed or get my refund. Which remember that "guest form" I talked about earlier? There was nothing on that form that stated I couldn't get a full refund or that stated I couldn't write an honest negative review. It just said they weren't liable for any damages that could/may happen. I called back again to cancel my appointment with the other gal and also sent an email, along with expressing how I felt. My day off to get my hair done and get pampered turned into a nightmare. It's freedom of speech. I shouldn't feel threatened to write an honest review and protect other men and women from having the same bad experience. Also, out of respect to the stylist and owner, I won't be stating their names. Please save your money and go somewhere else. read more

What I wanted*: after a pregnancy, I needed a shoulder length "long bob" type of haircut. I have had baylage type color in the past and want all of that bleached hair cut off, leaving mostly my undamaged brown hair. Short enough to be low maintenance, long enough to be able to put up in a ponytail without hair strands falling out. Short enough to be brushed without a ton of hair falling out (a post-pregnancy thing). I created a Pinterest board with ten pictures of what I want, to show the stylist. The best hair stylist I ever had moved away :( so now I have to find a new one. Booking an appointment*: Initially I went on the website at 12:30pm and checked available appointment times for today (having a baby makes for unpredictable schedules for me, so I needed same-day). I saw an available slot for 3:45 with a stylist. The website booking uses a third party website and it showed that all others were not available except one stylist (I think it was Jenni) and it said starting at $60. I decided to book on the phone instead. I called them only a few minutes after seeing this on the website, and a friendly receptionist Jodi picked up the phone with almost no wait time. I asked for a haircut and shampoo and if I could use the 20% discount their website advertised for last minute appointments. I was quoted $50 for haircut with shampoo and $40 for dry cut. Now I remember that the receptionist did not specify if this included the discount or not. She said that the 3:45pm slot was unavailable (wow! that was fast, I literally called 2 minutes after seeing it available on their booking website), but there was a 4:30pm available with Krissy. Right now I am looking at their booking site and it allows an option to book by stylist, and gives a list of all stylists, but I do not see a Krissy on that list. Also I see that each stylist charges a different amount as a starting price. The range is $45-$70. Now I am wondering if this reflects the skill of each individual? Will my $40 haircut match my Pinterest board? Good thing hair grows back, and mine grows fast, so I will be ok just in case something goes wrong. Changing an appointment*: At 3:22pm I called back to change my appointment from a shampoo+cut to just a dry cut since my baby allowed me time to actually wash my hair myself before the appt. I am the kind of person who does not enjoy if someone else washes my hair, I prefer to do it myself. I'm also the type who is picky and gets hair cut/done very rarely. Jodi said it was no problem and kindly updated my appointment. At the salon*: I arrived two minutes late, an employee who was leaving held the door open for me. I was greeted and Krissy came out right away and I went to the chair. No wait time at all (Nice!). Krissy looked at what I wanted, listened to all of my concerns, gave good feedback, and took extra time over my appointment time to add more texture and layering. She got the length I wanted perfectly and made sure to make the sides even in the front calling herself a perfectionist. Everything took 50 minutes, this included initial consultation, cut, and additional texturing. I felt like I could have a nice conversation with her but also I could sit quietly and it wasn't awkward. Overall I am happy with everything. I have shorter, more manageable hair now, that will be low-maintenance until my baby grows up a bit. read more
