This was my first time trying this hair salon. I have been looking to find a new stylist since my go to girl moved out of state. This salon had really good reviews online so I thought I would give it a try. I signed up for a trim and detox treatment. Upon arrival the salon was beautifully well kept and the staff were nice. I met with my stylist, she was kind sweet and had a welcoming personality. I let her know I just wanted to do a straight trim. We talked about the detox and she suggested an alternative personalized option since my hair didn't have a lot of buildup. I have very fine hair, so I shampoo/condition twice a week and straighten my hair maybe once every two weeks. When I arrived my hair was dry at the ends but still had life to it. I figured I would treat my hair to the personalized service to revitalize the ends. After all it was only $10 more than the detox. The shampoo room was beautiful and relaxing. My treatment was supposed to stay on for 15 minutes, but after about 10 she was back and rinsing it out. We headed back to the chair and she began to dry it out. The heat on the hairdryer should have tipped me off. I never use extreme heat on my hair. It is too fine for that type of heat. I only use a cool setting. Towards the end I saw smoke coming out of my hair and there was a burning smell. Before getting out of the chair, she put some oil on my hair that smelled beautiful. While the heat concerned me, my hair looked pretty good and overall it was what I would expect out of a salon experience. When I went to pay I had expected the total to be $85.00. After all when I was presented with options I was quoted that my full service with the detox would have been $75. The personal treatment was only $10 more...so why was the total coming out to $115? I asked about this but couldn't get a straight answer. I assume it's because the dry cut was $20, the personal treatment (that gets your hair wet) is $35, and to dry your hair after the treatment is the full cost of a blow out $60. I didn't want to argue or cause issue. I know stylists work hard and I didn't want to be at the front desk coming across like I didn't want to pay for my service. After all, if I wanted to become a regular client, I did not want to come off as cheap or disrespectful. So I paid and left feeling pretty good about my hair. It wasn't until I was driving home I noticed my head felt sunburned. When I got home within a few hours the smell of the product wore off and my hair felt crunchy. It no longer looked shiny like it did at the salon. It was frizzier than I have ever seen my hair and I could see a lot of my hair was burned. I'm kicking myself because I should have said something when I saw the smoke from the hairdryer and I should have asked for a detailed receipt before handing over my credit card. I don't know if this was just an off day, this salon appears to have a lot of truly happy clientele and the staff seem really nice. And while the cut improved the shape of my hair, I am sick that I paid overprice to damage my hair and burn my scalp. read more

She has the sweetest voice and kindest personality and always advises me on what's best for my hair while also bringing me beyond beautiful results. As someone with 3a curly hair that struggles with a lot of frizz, AnnaBella has transformed my previously damaged hair into beautiful silky defined curls and occasionally a beautiful smooth blow out. This salon is also gorgeous and is very well decorated with such a relaxing vibe, and the staff were all so nice. I would recommend AnnaBella and salon 1938 to anybody I love in a heartbeat. The first time I went to the salon the stylist very friendly and genuinely seemed to want to preserve the integrity of my hair. The total came out to as expected (a little over 200 with tip) and I was overall pretty happy with the results knowing I would have to come back in a few weeks to start to get to the reference photo I presented. I showed up to my second appointment and we decided to go with a partial highlight instead of a full. The stylist seemed okay with this and I expected her to book another follow up to continue to get to my desired state. When I checked out my total was WAY higher than I expected and was much higher than when I paid for full highlights. When I asked why it was so much (thinking she miscalculated) she said it was because she had to use an extra bowl. That would've been nice to know before she started doing my hair because i did not expect to pay so much for a partial (over 300 with tip). I would've kept coming back had there been some transparency but I felt a little scammed which I think she picked up on because she did not offer for another follow up appointment. read more

Great location and the many options they provide us are incredible! As a customer I always felt obligated to have the stylist make the decisions, but with Salon 1938, I was amazed at the options that were available for me to decide. Having the option to not sit in the chair for hours but to get a root touch up or dry cut, about 45 min!!! Amazing!!! Of course, the prices are sweet! Kayla did a fabulous job on my dry hair cut less than 50 bucks. Wow what a concept, who would have thought that we can actually have options as a customer!! It's about time. I don't know about you but I've always hated sitting in that chair for hours and hours. Now, 45 minutes at the most. I meant to write this review 2 years ago! I first came to this salon from a friends referral as a 6 months pregnant, feeling frumpy, needing a change client. Not only is this place a dream to walk into, the atmosphere and mood is PERFECTION and so relaxing. Instagram worthy walls and decor. My appointment was easily one of the best I've had, stylist Kelsee was a stranger to me yet made this introverted girl feel like we'd known each other years. I normally dread the idea of salon chair convo but with Kelsee I was so comfortable I suddenly was some extroverted open book. My wash was INCREDIBLE and there are no words for the tranquility of the wash room. My hair was beyond my expectations and very fairly priced. So here I am the mother of a now 19 month old who hadn't visited a salon since she was 6 months pregnant, and today I finally got my butt into this salon and in Kelsee's chair. I trust her so much I came in without spending a weeks worth of nights obsessing over finding pics to show what I want, I didn't even think about it at all. And again today, a frumpy feeling semi-new mom who has dreaded family photos coming up with baby weight still very present. I told Kelsee "I want it shorter, textured and BLONDE" I didn't show her any "inspo pics" I simply trust her and don't even pay mind to the mirror til she's done. But the best part, now they SERVE WINE! I cannot recommend this group of ladies more and I am a girl who seriously used to dread the salon. I left the salon with exactly what I asked for. I was very pleased!! I really enjoyed how she clarified with me what I wanted even though we spoke before hand and she explained what we were doing prior to starting my hair. I asked Jessie a few questions about my personal hair care, etc. during my appointment and she was very helpful to me about my concerns! I visited Salon 1938 for the first time today. I've had a hard time finding a stylist who understands curly hair. I'm so happy to have found Kayla. She's the whole package. She totally listened to me and made sure she understood what I was looking for. I had a cut and partial foil and I can honestly say this is the first time in years that I left a salon on Cloud 9. I'm disabled and sometimes feel self conscious. Not here. I felt so comfortable and zen. Oh my gosh Salon 1938 is utterly amazing!!! My first visit today after my former hairdresser retired. I cannot express how happy I am after seeing Lindsey today. She gave me PERFECT coloring and an AMAZING updo haircut. The salon itself makes you feel pampered. The shampoo room...WOW! These guys are amazing! Not only were they able to get me in the same day (the Saturday before Thanksgiving), they gave me the best hair experience. I had a wash, cut and styling with Hannah Moffet. I was very nervous as it was my first time here and my last experience at another salon was an absolute disaster but Hannah took really good care of me. She made sure that everything she did to my hair was exactly the way I wanted. She spent a lot of time on my hair and didn't let me go until I was completely satisfied.
