This pub was a great spot for a night out with friends. There was a huge drink selection including nonalcoholic options. It is always a rare find for myself to find a nonalcoholic red wine so I was very pleased and enjoyed it greatly. There was a live band and karaoke going on. There were board games available to play. Indoor and outdoor seating was available and free street parking. Restrooms were located in the back of the bar. The service was good, everyone was friendly with good vibes.
The owner was a super informative local. He was highly knowledgeable and offered a huge beer variety.
We were looking for a live music kind of night. We walked in as the 12 piece band was setting up. Asked for a beer menu, and I was astonished at how many beers they had. The extensive beer menu had all the beers available with all the info you would need to pick out the proper beer. Even with that , the bartender let me sample a few. I ordered a delicious red ale. , and my wife ordered a cider. Great crowd, great jazz, bluesy , old standards kind of band. With 3 different female lead singers. Not many items to choose from foodwise, but I did see some grilled cheese sandwiches coming out, and they looked pretty good. We had eaten dinner before we arrived. Which I suggest you also do. My wife found a ice cream shop next door, and they had no problem letting her eat it at the bar. One of the customers insisted I try the bourbon cream ale .But it was 10 percent, and I did not want a pint. I told that to the bartender and she gave me like a 5 oz pour. We had a great time , drinking great beer and listening to great live music.
1. The vibe here wasn't it. Overbearing patrons. 2. Customer service, nope. 3. Had a better time at ALL other breweries. Hell n blaze, iron oak, intercoastal, if I didn't like something they gladly switched it. I had patrons here chiming in my conversation, it was annoying & unnecessary. What I was asking wasn't unreasonable. I guess he rather feel right than keep the customer happy. I normally walk past this place bc of the obnoxiously loud music. Will never recommend or return. Most breweries a flight of 4, $10. Their flight of 6, $20. Too bad Bugnutty doesn't stay open later. Go there, where your $ is appreciated.
As a second stop on our Pub Pass trip in Cocoa we were excited to go to the Village Idiot Pub. This pub is in a very nice location in the cocoa village with an open floor plan, board games, and dog friendly. The bartender Jason who helped us was great and friendly. He offered us samples before we decided on our pours. I had the Tripping Animals wild duck which was a strong, but smooth dubbel. All in all this place was great and one of my favorites, definitely stop in here if you are in the area.
Chill bar with lots of beers on tap and plenty of games to keep you entertained. Dog friendly too! My fav part was the music - alt rock & emo music circa the 2000s. Only noticed 2 bartenders but they hustled the entire time and no one waited with an empty glass (man could other bars learn a lesson on this). Crowd seemed to be 30+ but maybe it was the crowd associated with the pop up Stick Figure concert across the way. Either way loved crushing beers, playing darts & hanging out here.
Local brewery in front of the park. They have plenty of games to choose from. They also have darts and some outdoor games. Beer choices was decent. They have on tap and canned. Mostly local beer and from the east coast. Friendly servers and good crowd.
Part of a little bar hopping we did one night by the beach. Live music was great and yes of course beers were great! Its in a cool location in Cocoa Village. Has a bunch of restaurants and bars and like a little village town where its all in one location. A lot of parking. Bartenders were very cool and helpful. The place was packed inside and outside. They have a small little patio area that has good seats to get fucked up on. A ton of games, its more like a brewery if anything. Worth checking out!
First off, what a cool name for a bar. The Village Idiot Pub is a great place to head towards if you are in Cocoa and looking for a good time. The drinks are cold and those drinks were served with a warm smile. The Village Idiot Pub is a great place to while away some time.
The ultimate fun hangout spot in Cocoa. This is by far our favorite bar in the area and we are always so proud to show it to friends visiting from around Florida. They find it equally cool. If you are a retired emo kid like me, you will love the music. They are always playing the best alternative hits from the 2000s. Sometimes they also have live music. They have a vast collection of beer on tap. My husband is always so excited to try something new. For newcomers they have a easy to follow menu by beer type. For non beer lovers like myself feast your eyes on their fridge in the back. It's full of ciders, seltzers and more. I'm a cider girl and while they do have a few cider on tap, I am always excited to try a new cider from their fridge. As far as customer service goes, they are simply amazing. No matter how busy they may be, they always greet you immediately and someone take your order in decent timing despite being so busy. The crew make you feel welcome and will give you as many samples as you want. We love everyone here. Lastly for ambience...This bar has a really open concept with plenty of seating inside and outside. They have tons of classic games like darts, ring swing, lifesize jenga, connect four and more. While this bar is designed for adults they also kid and dog friendly, making it super inviting for all. 10/10 awesome bar.
Went to see a friend play. Brought 12 people....should have brought another bartender. Acoustics was horrible. The voice of an angel sounded like a bag of cats getting beaten with a bat. The bartender was horrible. One dude and he definitely was not focused on getting people served with any sense of urgency. 15-minute wait to get a bottle of water and a soda. No food to speak of. The charcuterie board was nothing to write home about and took twenty minutes for a few grapes, some hard salami, and unremarkable cheese.
Laid back and casual place. I visited for lunch and the service was quick. Plenty of areas to.sit including outside seating, bar and tables. No full menu but snack items available.
Folks, treat yourselves, don't cheat yourselves! This is our go-to when we actually just want a peaceful, relaxing, "putlifeonholdforamoment", and breathe.... She's rather partial to the Stiegl, which has wondrous grapefruit notes, and I'm a big fan of hoppy, bitter beers, such as their G13, both insanely cold and tap! This isn't your typical "grab a beer before this or that". There is entertainment value for everyone, whether you're into darts, Connect 4, and assorted board games (Yes, that's correct), if you're so inclined. There is a lounge area for larger parties to get together and sample the various on-tap options, while relaxing and sharing one of the best charcuterie boards in town. If you're into people watching, pictured below is the window seating arrangement where you can wrap yourself around a cold beer or glass of wine, and watch folks as they walk by. Quite often, there are functions and activities going on at the park, and for people like me, there's always opportunity to watch the muscle cars and trucks go by while sipping the suds! More often than not, we'll grab our individual favorites and sit outside... In the parking lot... In the rocking chairs. If you're dodging the age bit, there are also picnic tables...! Team Village Idiot, you guys are awesome, and we look forward to hanging with you again!!

**INITIAL REVIEW** Apparently, the Yelp Skynet a.k.a. the AI that green or red flags reviews, doesn't like the actual name of this pub despite the fact it is the pub's name. Ergo, I will use the abbreviation VI for the remainder of this review. Besides that, you really can't go wrong going to any of the pubs in Historic Cocoa Village. VI is one of the pubs on the eastern side of the Village, in between the famous Fat Donkey's Ice Cream and the furthest east pub in the village, Ryan's. Appearance-wise, the outside fits primarily with the building, but there are some minute details that give it its own personality, primarily around its name. There is also a section of the road and sidewalk that have been garrisoned for VI as outdoor seating and games such as bean bag toss. Indoors, it is definitely your kinda pub that many of the patrons are friends. The right side (East) have long tables with many pub and drinking games such as Hook & Ring and Shut The Box. There is a bookshelf filled to the brim with board games in case patrons prefer traditional or childhood classics. The left side (West) is the "Patio," a room that is decorated by numerous plants, neon lighting, widker and a black-and-white checkerboard floor. Finally, the middle of the pub is the actual bar, in the form of an L-shape serving a nice arrangement of beers from many breweries, cideries, distilleries, and meaderies across the United States. I had the Kentucky Vanilla Barrel Cream Ale by Lexington Brewing and Distilling Co. Other beer selections I would recommend include the Pineapple Cider by the famous Carib Brewing Co. and the Mango Cart by Golden Road Brewing. Personal note on the latter: Mango Carts, well for me, only taste good when straight from the tap. Cans are not good. And the food, it is minimal, but boy does VI know how to tug at my heartstrings as everything they have features, or could feature, cheese. They have pretzels with cheese, pickles with cheese, and my personal favorite, grilled cheese sandwiches. And for the more sophisticated patron, they have numerous choices in charcuterie boards, too. I will also state the drink prices are a bit on the high side compared to some other places I been to. And there are two restrooms that are single-serving and gender-specific. I don't believe the latter has to be gender-specific because they are single-serving. The barn doors are an interesting choice because they are not very good at blocking sound. I guess that is why VI blasts the music so nobody can hear the flatulence. Speaking of music, VI does have a small corner stage for small acts, possibly singular, to perform. Unless there is a pull-out large stage for outdoor performances, I don't see big bands, per se in higher number of members, performing here unless they can all jam in that tight-spaced stage. Ultimately, I am going to give VI three-out-of-five stars for this review. They are a solid pub that has all the fixin's of a good bar to go to. Maybe it is safe to say they really don't stand out too much, especially amongst the more unique bars in Historic Cocoa Village. But still, a good place to have a drink with friends with that "Everybody knows your name" kinda vibe. read more

I wish there was 10 stars for this one! Right upon walking in they had fun old school music from the 80's playing. Plenty of bar seats and tables, along with outdoor seating too. Bartenders were fantastic and personable! They made suggestions which were awesome. Overall the beer selection was fantastic and I LOVED the vibe! This is a must try when in cocoa village :) read more
Every time we are in town we LOVE to stop by and see what interesting beers are on the menu this time! They have some of the most interesting beers and ciders I have seen on draft. We love to try a flight and experience a half dozen new beers before settling down with a whole pint of just one flavor. They have recently expanded and created a comfortable indoor lounge area, plus expanded the outdoor seating area too, which is perfect for enjoying a cold brew and some fresh air. There is always a fun selection of games to play, plus the special trivia and bingo nights. If we lived in the area we would be regulars FOR SURE! read more

This is an interesting little pub that is both parts touristy/locals watering hole. The décor and ambiance is fun and quirky and their tshirt selection will give you a chuckle for the many plays on their name. Service is a bit slow at the bar, but once you get a bartenders attention, they are able to make solid recs and are quick with the drinks. Where this place shines is their beer selection, imho. Though some of their beer pricing may reflect their location, I was impressed with offerings I've never seen before (and I have 2000+different beers under my belt) including a beer modeled after a Finnish malt beverage which was interesting to say the least. I also liked that they had a plethora of local (as in regional and statewide) beers on draft. I think if I'm ever in the area again, I'd make a pitstop just to see what new and weird beers I might discover. read more

Fantastic vast array of beers for every pallet! Lots of unique craft suds, local brews, sours, ciders and wine. The staff is helpful in guiding you to your new favorite or what your taste buds are craving. Live music, trivia, karaoke and other events on their calendar as well as cute bartenders! We were happy to stumble by this place after receiving poor service and attitude from a beer hall down the street. The bartender was very busy running the ship by himself but Michael made everyone feel welcome with his banter. Beer selection were amazing and many smaller craft breweries were on tap. We will be headed back to experience this fun venue again shortly. read more

I must say, I was skeptical about this place, but the service was amazing. I asked the bartender chick her name, but I forgot it already...too many beers. She was very knowledgable with the array of beers that they had, even the seasonal ones. I had a Pumpkin Latte something. My hubby and I even got a flight with an assortment of beers. They were all good. There are games and even live music for your entertainment needs. Then bathroom barn doors are awesome. It's a great place to chill with some friends. There is such a big selection, I would definitely return if I was in the area...maybe a few more times! read more
